Meat needs to take some time out now - promote the new album and then come to the UK fresh in January.
His touring schedule over the last year has been pretty full on - maybe this is a warning to him. I would like him to take time out before doing 8 great arena shows in the UK.
When Meat is fresh is voice is so much better and doesn't need to do the recording track in the background that has been evident over the last couple of years. I personally would liek to hear a few bum notes rather than a CD track being played.
Get well soon Meat and keep on rocking in a few months!
No need to yell your caps woke me up

You probably will, although you'll hear thousands of ones that are spot on, because whatever, as Andrew says, you hear along with extra backing vocals synced to a click track for the drummer and has minor orchestrations on it, Meat sings live. It's a matter of principle and truth.
And while you seem to be writing off the commitment to fans in Canada and the USA, Meat will probably feel it's up to him to make his own decisions ;)

It seemed evident from what he wrote on FB last year I think it was, that he simply doesn't want to retire. He probably enjoys what he is doing too much. I doubt he needs to do what he is doing financially. As long as people come to see him I fail to see why anyone has more right to tell him what he should do than himself.
The Braver than we are artwork seems like a love letter to all his fans and the fact he ensured the songs are all from Steinman to me indicates he wanted to fix some mistakes he and others have made along the way. I wish the best for him. But I reckon, if he is performing and enjoying himself then best thing to do as a fan is to enjoy it all if you can and whilst we all can.
I'm sure he will rest when he thinks the time is right for that.

,, We've come a long way from the days when The Beatles, for example, didn't even use click tracks on their studio (!) recordings, let alone live ... Is this progress ?????

Come on now. the Beatles performed for like 20 minutes at a show if you were lucky and they were in their 20s with 4 instruments and bland emotionless vocals. How can you even compare to what Meat is doing?

It was a broader observation about 'technology creep', so to speak, thereby undermining the whole ethos of live rock n roll .. There is just too fine a line between using pre-recorded stuff as an enhancement and using it as a crutch .. I'm trying to phrase all this in as nice a way as I can here ........
Meat is theatre. Theatre is illusion. Nobody watching Romeo and Juliet minds that the actors playing the starcrossed lovers don't really die in a romantic double suicide. As long as audiences are hearing Meat sing, which he always does, does it really matter whether they are hearing him perform alongside himself as backing singer? It's ALL him. It sounds great in YTTW, which now brings that wall of sound from the original album. It also keeps bands sounding tight and steady in a situation where adrenaline can easily take hold and screw up tempos. There are bands who don't use a click, but there are also plenty that do.
It's used for vocals in a lot of West End shows now, simply because of the demands the schedule makes on their voices. Even with a day between shows, Meat's schedule is hugely demanding on his voice. He sings live, he entertains, he does not mime (like many younger singers do now). That works for me, and if he uses a click track? It worries me not at all. He and the show are the thing.

I can understand where you're coming from, I just don't think Meat has ever been a villain in the undermining of live rock music. It is what is, he's not going to do things differently now. There's worse things in the world than a backing track to help keep tempo and thicken the chorus vocals. Don't forgot songs such as Took the words had double vocals. Cannot be properly achieved live without a backing track regardless.

Fair enough, Andrew G ,,, But now that we know (from the 'collapse' footage, sadly) that the strongest lines in 'AFL' for example, are, in effect, the result of someone pressing 'play',, it's all getting a little undignified, is it not ??
Jim Steinman has posted some great comments on Facebook, said some great stuff about Meat and the album

Great stuff he wrote indeed. Can't wait to hear the full 12 minute version of Going all the way. Think I will skip listening the shortened version. :-)

There is no CD track playing !! There is the words "old soul" in giving tree there are like I said before about 8 or nine words on Track . Which pissed me off when I could not hit them every night , Bat is all live ,Paradise is all live 1st song is all live but one word . Lemon is all live , Break it is all live, Dead ringer is all live , Took the words is a double vocal , (not like the record it was triple tracked ) Frying Pain is all live, revved up is all live except 2 words and I don't even need them to be, Anything for love is all Live except the are some doubles
that should be ducked into the track They are the 2 AFL's before the big note before the bridge !! I am singing live !! ~~~~ off !!!

No I don't use a click track !! I back Phrase too much , do you even know what that is ? I have a guide vocal in my ear on some songs , the fist one , and a couple more songs , and I am the only person who can hear the guide vocal . Click tracks drive me crazy . Please I don't want any of you coming to a show . I will find you give you your money back and send you on your merry way .

No I don't Meat. What I do know, and have always known is that you sing every song live, never lip synch, because I've heard you, and have often been close enough to do that very clearly. How you feed in additional vocals, even for what reason, doesn't concern me .. those are your vocals anyway, and throughout every song I know I am hearing you live, there on stage, in front of me. It wouldn't be truth if you weren't, and you always deliver truth.

Great that Meat is replying to this thread and showing off his unbelievable passion.
The songs that meat sings must some of the most difficult in the music world.
Night after night Meat rocks - i genuinely don't know how he does all the shows he is doing.
I would just prefer around 20 big arena shows a year so we can have a fresh Meat Loaf!!

Please... please don't knock the Beatles... It's my opinion if there had been no Beatles there would be no Jim Steinman or Meat Loaf... and he wouldn't be doing what he is doing at all ...
Jim Steinman has posted some great comments on Facebook, said some great stuff about Meat and the album
Has he mentioned how they managed to hook up with Stephen Stills for the For What It's Worth track ? I am really looking forward to that track and would love to know the story behind it and the hook up ...

No if there were no LITTLE RICHARD there'd be no Steinman ;)
Beatles are a mixed bag. Never heard him or meat ever mention them.
Chuck berry and Little Richard oh yes.

Well... Meat and Jim would have short, slicked back hair then and a whole different visual image ... ;) ... and they are not just about the music but the visual imagery as well as proven by the latest album cover ...
