Today is a very sad day in Sweden. Our foreign minister Anna Lindh died this morning at 5:29am Swedish time.
The official announcent that she sadly had pasted away came at 9:20 am Swedish time by our prime minister Göran Persson at a live pressconference.

Anna Lindh was attacked about 4:15pm yesterday (wednesday) when she was out shopping at NK together with a friend without bodyguards. The man who attacked her draw a knife and stabbed her in her stomach and in her arm before he disappeared and are still on the loose.

At 5pm they started to operate Anna and at 3am this morning two doctors held a pressconference and said that she had large injuries especially at her lever it was totally damaged but they was still operating her a very complicated surgery.

But she didn't make it she had lost alot of blood before she came to hospital.

The referendum about Euro that we shall have on sunday is still on but all campaign activites from both "yes" and "no" sides are off.

Big chock in Sweden and we all grieves and cries. It is a big loss for Sweden Anna Lindh was a very popular politican here.

But mostly it is hard for her husband and her two little boys.

Rest in peace Anna Lindh

Thank you.

We sincerely hope so too that they catch the man who did this so we don't end up with a trauma which occured after Olof Palmes' murder in 1986. They haven't yet catched the person who shot him.

All programs in all channels are lifted out and instead it is musikvideos on swedish cable channels and on SVT and TV4 it is news every half hour and they talk in between with guests as for instance people from our government and partyleaders, people from church, political commentators and so on.

People has all day put down flowers outside Rosenbad, Karolinska Institutet (the hospital where she died) and outside NK (where she was attacked).

The police doesn't think now that it was an attack by someone who was after her bag with money.
That means that it is more likely the person was after Anna Lindh and wanted to kill her which he very sadly achieved

My condolences. It's events like these that make the world a sadder place.
I hope they catch whoever was responsible.

I think it is terrible that someone could do this merely because they disagreed with her views.

As a famous person once said:

I may not agree with your words, but I will defend to the death your right to say them.

It's so horrific everybody in Sweden is grieving and thinks about her family.

Just 10 minutes ago our Prime Minister Göran Persson ended a 7 minutes long speach on tv live to the nation.

I'ts unbelieveble that it is the second time on 17 years this has happened here.

And still they have no leads of who the attacker was they have very little to go on. This will be a new Olof Palme-case :(
