Subject: Throat
Just to let you know , some of my throat has headled from the burn and fungus, but the lower left vocal chord is still showing siigns of the burn and is.still . not responding. The top half is working, these are very small muscle bands were talking about. THe Right side is perfect try to control just one side for most of the show. BUT The bottom half of the left is frozen it's not moving when I sing. which then weakeans the top half of the left one, the more I sing. the weaker it gets like tonight. WE are trying I mean everything, it may never come back. But I have heard very good board tapes 85 to 90% very good ,the Cleveland taPE WAS AROUND 85% >Detroit tomorrow is my fourth show in 5 days scared about that one!!!!! , tonites show started as goog as any every and my voice just gave out about half way thru AFL, Finished and it was wery passiable, paradise alls good that just works, So if any of you bought tickets to shows in europe and you don't want to take the risk to here and 80% from me I will refund them , don't worry they will sell. It's a good show in 2 Acts with vidieos and a few other fun things.. I read were some people were talking about the vocals in cleveland, but the were a lot better than 1996. THe band and myslef thought the tape was pretty darn good.. So if people want to return tickets to I will pay you back and sell me.
Other There are meet and Greets just not every nigh if we do do it every night only4 to 6 people would get passes for 2 hours brfore the show, we can't have large crowd for the every nitet I'm just to wet I"m them every night. I'm just too weak at the momment. Gobavk to the voice Dr on the 16 of Oct for a check up but he is talking months, But I got to tell you some some of the songs are Great, better than last tour in 99 .I know have my dream, Ihave the best bad in the world. U5 eat your heart out, Mr spring is close but we just beat him to the tape
I'm Giving the UK fan Club this and it for your ears only and the people here on this board, donot pass this impormation on or tell anyone. and I don't think you want to give back you tickets it's a great show.
LOVE MEAT

Ah, Meat! I'm SO sorry to hear about the throat problems!! I'm sure people will NOT want to give back the tickets. There is so much more to your shows than just the songs!!
It was a pleasure and a privilege for me to go to the four shows out west that you were able to do!! And I wouldn't have given up that experience for anything!!
You take good care of yourself and try, if you can, to do what the doctor tells you to do!! We all want you to be WELL!!! And if that means NOT singing as many concerts as you intended, then everyone will understand!!
YOU come first to us!! YOU have ALWAYS come first to us!!!
Have a very Happy and HEALTHY Birthday and year ahead!!
With much love,
MB

Great to hear from you Meat, happy Birthday and stop worrying about comments on your vocals. I remember the last few times in Europe ive seen you in an Arena, the crowd have been so loud and their mind has been taken of the vocals by you acting the song thats believe it or not the vocals are un noticed. Not everyone will be at a concert making notes on how you sound.
The NZ live tracks i cant wait for..thatll give us an indication..and the mexico concert if it is released in any form. Hopefully you'll still go ahead with the Top of the Pops Meat Loaf Special too!!!
Take care whatever you decide!

Meat - I am so sorry to hear about your throat.
Do not worry, we will not take this away from the forum.
But buy my tickets back??? NO WAY!
Concentrate on getting better - if you have to take extra days off, take them off! We have so many happy memories already and beautiful albums and videos that we'll allow you to take some time off to recover :)
Don't do ANYTHING that stops you from making a full recovery!
Please take care (at least if you are resting you won't be able to fall off stages etc! )
Love and best wishes,
TRex.
aww meat, bad news. im sure you'll pull through, you allways do. Just take it easy and it will be fine. As chris says people wont be making notes on your vocals.
Take Care,

hi Meat, :D happy birthday to you, dont worry we have every faith in you, you know that. :D This is gonna be the greatest tour ever, :D hope your throat gets better Meat. We love ya take care best wishes to you ,the band ,also your family Carolxxx. have a great day Meat .
I know you always strive to reach a standard you have in your head, which would be beyond most performers, and understand how frustrating it must be when in your eyes you don't feel you can deliver it. I truly hope your chords continue to heal.
But know one thing .. I, like so many, many of your fans, will be there to experience the magic that is your performance, that is you. If halfway through you said "I think I'm gonna have to just sit and chat with you for the next hour" I'd still consider it an honour to have shared the evening with you. There will be great vocals .. but more importantly there will be unforgettable theatre and wonderful entertainment from the master!!
Happy Birthday to one who is simply the best, whatever, whenever. May your star never falter and may you stay forever young :) xoxo

I'm so sorry to hear about your throat problems, and I wish you a full recovery soon. I was lucky enough to see you at both The Mohegan Sun and The Borgata this year, and they were the best shows I've ever seen.
Hopefully I'll get to see you again when you come back to the states next year ... but if not, I can't thank you enough for those two nights I'll never forget.
Please take care of yourself ... and enjoy your special night tonight.
Good luck with your doctor's visit, and don't worry -- we're always here to support you, no matter what :)

Sorry to hear about your throat problems. I am sure if you take it easy everything will work out OK.
As for giving my tickets back - I would rather stick pins in my eyes. I am looking forward to the concert in Manchester UK on 17 December 2003. I am sure it will be a great night and you will manage all the old ones in great style - as always.
Happy birthday - I will drink to your health tonight (probably more than once)
Be happy

So if any of you bought tickets to shows in europe and you don't want to take the risk to here and 80% from me I will refund them , don't worry they will sell.
Is this Meat giving his European fans an excuse in advance for the cancellation of some of the European gigs? I hope not.
Not imo if he's saying don't worry they because they will sell. Gosh .. every message until now has been one of love and support from his European fans :)
Have a great birthday Meat :)

Is this Meat giving his European fans an excuse in advance for the cancellation of some of the European gigs? I hope not.
Ah, Winston. Please don't do this today. It's his birthday and we're trying to keep the forum happy and up and celebrating for a change. Okay?
I think that most folks around here love this man enough so that if he DID have to cancel due to these throat problems, that would be all right with them. I'm sure they would much rather let him have the time off to fully heal the problems with his throat than to further damage it!!
I think that sort of goes without saying. And as for Meat, I'm sure he and his people are considering all the options and trying to decide what is best for Meat right now, under these conditions!!
Instead, why don't you come say Happy Birthday to him. I know you're not a fan of his, but rather another member in the band, but still, it's a special day around here. Please help us to keep it that way!! :?

Agreed MB .. and anyway Meat was talking about his concern that he might not be able to give the perfect performance each time. He made it clear that tickets would sell .. and imo he intends to deliver the shows.
This should be an upbeat, loving, happy and positive day in honour of this wonderful man's birthday :)
Winston

NO. You have your message all wrong. I want to see Meat well for this tour. If he's not well and has to cancel a show, so be it. I don't mind. I think his health is more important. And as far as not being a fan of his, that's rubbish, I don't go to see Kasim I go to see Meat, it's been like that for me all along. Kasim wasn't always in the band. What bothered me about Meat's post was the fact that he was letting people know in advance that he might not be 100% on the night. I don't think he should do that, he should see how things go for him and take it from there. I couldn't care less if Meat came on in a wheelchair, but with the current track record of this tour I am not 100% confident he will make it through the European leg. And I am not taking a pop at Meat, but as a fan who is going to gigs in December, I don't want to be hearing 3 months in advance that his voice is not up to scratch.
Hang in there Meat, and happy Birthday.
Neh.. gonna hang on to my tickets. See you november 7th in Oberhausen.
Hope you get well soon Meat. Hey, you going to tell us what you had for your birthday????

sorry to hear this, but there aint no way your havin my ticket :D
hope you get well soon. Best wishes :D
I will never sell a ticket. You always give more than 100%, and if your voice isn't best, the show will do the rest, so I see no reason to get my money back. But I don't have a ticket, because there isn't a date for the Netherlands yet.
I hope you get better soon.

Meat.
Thanks for taking the time to update us on whats up with your voice. I recently went to a program with a professional storyteller from NYC, and she was telling us about the many, many ways that vocal cords can be damaged- it's dizzying! I wish you the very best at your appointment with the throat doctor on the 16th, and I wish him wisdom to know just the right thing to do that will be the best for you.

ah no way youre not having my tickets back, even if you didnt
manage to do the concert for that night i would still be keeping
the tickets simply because they are for your final tour.
as for your voice, cor blimey even with half your vocal chords
your ten times the singer most of them are.
the thing im doing with my little girl who frequently suffers with
a bad set of tonsills(she has antibiotics now in fact) is the salt water
gargle, and honey and lemon.
but then again she isnt going out in front of a big audience,
simply shouting at her brothers!!
any how try to put all thoughts of bad write ups out of your mind
for them who care about you, we would rather you be well than
care what people say about you...
we will judge for our selves and it is bound to be great!
all that said hope you had a great day and a fantastic year.

You know Meat, my uncle Terry went to see your concert with my aunt. And well he was drinking, and he was moving around and singing to the top of his lungs.  People were telling him to sit down, and he wouldn't listen, but fortunatly the guards in the audience threw him out for the evening. Leaving my aunt inside. Who by the way loves yea. She sings herself. I can't go far to see you in concert, cause I only 16, but you know I'd definetly try! Take Care Meat, love yea!!!

You know, it's such an honor for us that you get so concerned about what we're thinking and being afraid to disappoint us. Concerned enough that you come to post here. But to us, the most important one to be concerned with is YOU. Especially when it comes to your health.
Yes, we want to be there at the concerts because we all love your voice. But we would rather you take the time to take care of it and yourself than destroy it. Besides, you'd go crazy, I think, if you couldn't be vocal about SOMEthing. LOL
Just know we love you and when you need to take some time for you to be ready, we'll be there to support you in all you do.
Sorry I missed all the fun on your birthday because I was working but you can bet I was thinking of you. (I love country music but sometimes it's a bummer to be a DJ in that format 'cause I can't play your music . . . deep sigh.)
Anyway . . . take care of yourself my friend.
Hugs . . . lots of hot tea to sooth the throat . . . and all my best!
Love,
Lady B
P.S. Ain't no way on God's green Earth I'm giving back MY ticket from this tour. No way . . . no how . . . uh huh . . . no sir. Although I DO have your picture on my scrapbook page of my show's website.

Seeing as I get blamed for stuff on this board, you can blame me for Meat having all these problems. I take full responsibility. Also it's my fault that the price of cabbage has gone up,and world hunger, the state the Ozone layer is in and I definitly am responsible for reality TV programmes.
meatmymainman
23 Oct 2003, 00:13
Well, Winston, we can't speak for the other things you say your responsible for, but from what we've all heard now from Meat, your more responsible for NON-reality programming!!

Don't worry Meat, it wouldn't matter if you couldn't sing at all: all you have to do is walk on stage and I'd be happy :P . I know how frustrating it is to have a less-than-100% voice when you love to perform so much. Don't let it get your spirits down though, I don't think any Meat Loaf fan would give up their ticket because of it!
Happy Birthday :D
