It was just announced on another mailing list from someone who attended a CD signing yesterday with Meat, that the February 20th concert at the Rod Laver Arena--one of the shows with Meat Loaf and The Melbourne Symphony Orchestra--WILL definitely be made into both a CD and a DVD!!

Perhaps someone else here can confirm it--two sources are always better than one, but it's sounding really promising now, friends!! Two live concerts recorded from one great tour!!!

Good news for Meaty fans everywhere!! :bunny:

Hey MBrevard well I hope your right that will be great to be able to have a live DVD of Meat in OZ, will not be as good as when I see him live but here it's all good. Hey maybe Meat will say about it on Rove Live (done in Melbourne) tonight here in OZ.

Meat is up next.

Wow... that should be awesome.

Ya know... Kiss have been mentioned alot when it comes to the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra, but niched away in my Mum's very impressive Elton John Collection is a little boxed set called Elton John with the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra from 1986. I mean, credit where credit's due. Sorry - I'm a huge Elton John fan and have been meaning to slip that in somewhere for a while. :D

Hi again! I've been sitting here trying to raise my spirits from the abject horror of considering Ahhnold as my Governor for the next three years!! The thought of Meat and the band playing with an entire symphony AND being able to see and hear that experience did the trick!

Glad some of you are also excited by the idea!

To Meatmymainman (love the name, by the way! :D ): I wasn't fortunate enough to have seen Meat at any of the Night of the Proms in Europe, but I know that several people here did go and will perhaps tell you about their experiences. (I'd love to hear them, myself!)

But the thought of NOTP made me dig through some of my tapes here and I can share a bit of what it might be like for all of us in February, when the MSO joins the Neverland Express.

Here's the path to the sample (http://www.conubic.com/real/TOCconcert.html), taken from European TV after the Proms were over.

After rewatching my tapes, I just can't wait for the DVD and CD from Australia!! :bunny: Such exciting news!!

Enjoy!

Hi MBrevard, Thank you for posting all of these clips, only just catching up on these.

The photographs are fabulous :D

And as for a DVD, about time too I'd say, there has been a distinct lack of Meats material over the years released on VHS or DVD, be it live or videos pertaining to songs.

I'm sure with this DVD that Meats music will reach out and become known to others who maybe Meat passed by :D

Thanks, friends!! Glad you're enjoying the clip.

I have a question or two for those of you who have gotten the CDs/DVDs from the other MSO/guest performers in the past. I don't know if any of you will have the answers, but it never hurts to ask.

Do you know about how long it took to bring the CD and DVD out after the concert was performed and did they come out at the same time?

A CD can only hold about an hour--give or take--of music, so was it a 1 CD set or a 2 CD set. Meat's concerts are so long that they couldn't fit much on just one CD.

A DVD can hold about 2 hours of video. Were the previous DVD edited heavily or did they contain most of the concert.

From what I understand, this concert will be divided into 3 parts: Meat with the band; Meat and the band with a small part of the orchestra; and Meat and the band with the full orchestra.

I was just wondering what are our chances of getting to see most of it on the DVD??

As I said, you may not know all the answers, but if you have seen/heard previous sets, then perhaps you can give us an idea of what to expect.

Thanks, guys!! Can't stop thinking about this project!! Meat said he had something really special in mind for his Australian leg of the tour, and he certainly wasn't kidding, was he??!! :D

As they go the Kiss route - which I hope they do - there would be a double CD and double DVD within a year following the performance... don't know exactly how long it took Kiss to put it out - but it was within the year for sure.

Edit: I found this on a Kiss website:

On September 8, 2003, Sanctuary Visual Entertainment is set to unleash KISS Symphony on DVD and VHS. This spectacular one-off concert celebrates the bands' 30th Anniversary, and was filmed on 28 February 2003.

That would be just a little of 7 months. So anything is possible.

Please do note that Sanctuary is also Meat's US label.

You can get a Dual-Layered DVD wich will hold 4 hours worth of video and audio as well a extras. Hopefully, the Dvd will be released as this.(not to be confused with the Single-layered annoying flipper discs). :D

Hi, Jayd! You know, I am a total novice when it comes to this. I have no idea about dual-layered or single-layered DVDs. As for the latter, are you referring to ones that you have to turn over to watch the other side??? Or the ones that have Standard format, for instance, on one side and a widescreen version on the other??

William--hi!! Nice to hear from you. This is the first I had heard that Sanctuary Records is probably to thank, as well as Meat, for the upcoming release!

I had thought that production time might be long for something like this, as nice as it would be to have it ready to go by the 4th and final leg of the tour next Spring, when Meat comes back to the US and then back to Europe, the UK, etc. Great time to sell a lot of copies!!

I guess there's hope, but perhaps, just a slim one since it's being recorded/filmed done toward the end of February. :??:

I was very pleased to read what you said about 2 CDs and 2 DVDs, though. I guess that the CDs would probably have to be cut or edited down since Meat's shows are usually over 2 hours. (Is compression possible, so that one can get more than that on 2 CDs??? Wish I knew more about such things...! )

But if we can get 4+ hours on the DVDs, then we might just possibly get to see the ENTIRE concert (if Meat wants it that way)!! I think that's potentially excellent news for all of us!! (Has he ever given us a complete concert on video before, without cutting a song here or there? I can't think of one...)

Thanks, William for the info!! :D

Love to everyone,

The Kiss show, which has been the first of its kind with the MSO, happened this February, the DVD was released this September, with the CD several weeks ahead due to marketing reasons.
At least half a year seems to be a likely schedule when compared to other live DVDs.

Thank you, Michael, for this information!! So, if the concert is done in mid-to-late February, we can perhaps expect the CDs/DVDs in very late summer or early autumn!! Good for the Christmas season next year. I know what I'm asking Santa for!! (If I can wait that long, which is doubtful!! )

You're very welcome, Kathy! I love doing stuff like this! And welcome to the forum. I loved your review of CHSIB!! Nice to have you with us now!! :D

Also a BIG thanks to Shane who found a printed article confirming that all this about the CDs/DVDS IS true.

Forgive the double-posting, from one forum to another (never done this before, and I hope it's okay) but I wanted to make sure that everyone reading this thread didn't miss the good news! :bunny:

The article also mentions Meat's appearance at a music store signing in Australia.

Here it is:

THANK YOU MEAT!!!!

Thanks again, Shane! This is all very exciting, even if those of us who are not in Australia have to wait until late next year to see/hear it!! Something this great is worth the wait!! :!:

Hi MB, single layered discs are the one's where half the film(or video) is on one side and the rest on the other. I suppose this will be ok to put the concerts in two parts, one part on each side, but I would prefer a dual layered disc. Even better, a double sided Dual-layered disc with loads of Meaty extras, and a great 5.1 Digital soundtrack. :D

To Michael and William: Since you have seen the Kiss version of this, were any extra things included in the DVDs?? Just curious.

I love the idea of 'extras' being a possibility! I'm not saying that the concert, alone, wouldn't be joy enough for all of us (I hate to be greedy about such things  ), but if some extras COULD be included, what would y'all want to see on it?? :??:

Thanks for the very cool clip, MB! I finally just got around to watching it, and it completely rocked! I love the bit where the audience is singing along to Patti's lines. Was the entire concert shown on European TV, or just a few songs?

While I was watching this, I got to wondering- does the word "prom" mean the same thing in Europe as in the US? To Americans, a prom is a formal dance held for 16 and 17 year olds. Is that what it means when it is used in "Night of the Proms"? Maybe a very dim question, but I was really wondering.

DVD versions of both the CHSIB and DIST music videos ... not that there's anything wrong with the ones on the CD, but I love the clarity of the picture and sound on a DVD.

A new music video for one of the other songs .. TESTIFY perhaps?
A behind the scenes / interviews ... along the lines of Bat II Picture Show

The possibilites are endless :))

No, Sherrie. The Proms over here are much different from the UK and European Proms. I first discovered the British Proms in my last fandom.

I found this definition, although I'm sure someone here will be able to give you a more definitive answer:

Proms is a series of concerts founded by Sir Henry Wood in 1895, now promoted every summer by the BBC. Over 70 concerts take place in the Royal Albert Hall, London, usually one every night, sometimes with additional late night concerts and, on occasional weekends, afternoon concerts too.

As far as I know it is mostly classical music in the UK, although I could very well be wrong and wait for a correction from someone more knowledgeable on this than I.

Of course, that quote refers to the UK proms, not the European series, which is somewhat different. I don't know if one inspired the other, or if they developed independently.

The first I heard of the Night of the Proms was when it was first announced that Meat would be one of the performers in 2001. It has nothing to do with our 'dancing Proms,' but is instead a huge festival with a delectable mix of popular and rock and classical music being played over a period of 45 days, night after night, in European town after town, country after country.

I just fell in love with the concept. I wish we had something like this over here in the States. I suppose our Boston Pops might be the closest we come to it.

I hope that helps. And as I said, I hope someone who knows more about these things or who has attended them, will come and shed some more light on the subject.

The televised versions, Sherrie, contained edited clips from all the major performers, as well as some of the orchestra's songs.

Would you all like another taste of what it might be like when Meat and the band join forces with the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra??

Okay... You talked me into it. (Yeah, that was tough!! )

Here is another song (http://www.conubic.com/real/TOCconcert.html) from the same televised program. One that's certain to be performed in February!!

Hope you enjoy it!! Great way to start off a day (or for Sherrie, who sees these in the evenings--a great way to end a day!!) What can I say--any time of day is the right time to listen to Meat!!! :bunny:

Ian, thanks, but the credit for the link should go to Shane, who found the article, which confirmed the rumors going around!

You have really had such a special week there, haven't you!! And look what you have to look forward to in February!! Which concert(s) will be you attending when Meat and the band come back to perform? Have you decided yet? I'm so envious! I would love to be at one of these very special concerts!! But, as Vicki says, the CDs and DVDs from the one will have to do!!

I've been thinking about the 'extras' question for the upcoming DVD. I think I would like to have a behind-the-scenes documentary, showing just what it takes to put something like this together. I'd love to see some of the rehearsals and perhaps some 'outtakes' from things that happen along the way... That might be a good 'extra feature' to accompany the concert, itself. :D

Anyway, thanks friends.

Yes, a documentary would be the absolute best. I just watched a doc about the making of John Mellencamp's new album, and the whole time I was wishing that there was such an program for the making of CHSIB. The detail that they were going in to in recording the Mellencamp album was amazing, down to the individual notes on each instrument. I'd imagine most albums are recorded that way, but I found it really interesting. One thing I'd love to see is a series of clips showing the "evolution" of Paradise, with the various dramatics between Meat and Patti that have taken place over the years. That would be excellent!

Great ideas, guys!! I love 'em.

Sherrie--I know what you mean about a "Making of..." doc for CHSIB. I've been thinking about that since Meat teased us here at the forum a long time ago about the song "Do It!" and what it took to get it made! I'd love to know the story behind that one, wouldn't you?!!

Jayd--while we're dreaming the 'dream of dreams' here: How about a totally separate DVD with music videos that have never been published!! We have the Hits Out of Hell--the really early ones. Then Bat 2 Picture Show, which gave us some of those songs. Storytellers, I suppose, actually created some videos for us--as we saw in the special CHSIB CDs. But there are lots and lots of them that haven't been published officially--that I know of.

Your two examples, Jayd, are excellent--I'd Lie For You and Not a Dry Eye! Modern Girl and Rock and Roll Mercenaries got airplay, but were they ever a part of any official ML collection??

If you were here for Meat's birthday, I shared a pretty bad copy of the Surf's Up video. There's also one for Kiss that you've probably seen, besides the one from the Storytellers DVD. This one is a mix of concert clips and portions of other videos combined to the song, Kiss.

What an amazing collection and DVD all of these would make! I wish someone would do this!!

I dug out a really old one for y'all today (http://www.conubic.com/real/TOCpromo.html), one that has not been published (as far as I know) while we're talking about this subject. I know that some of you will have seen this one before, but perhaps, some of you will not have. The quality isn't very good. Sorry. But that's the way my copy of it is. Still and all, it's rare, so I hope you enjoy it!

I don't know if any extras will be included in the concert DVD, but you're right, Vicki. There are lots and lots of possibilities!!! 8) I'd love to see some of these come true!! Anybody else got some ideas to share??

Love to you all,

Ok MB this is getting scary now .... I was thinking exactly the same thing earlier today :)) Weird Al Yankovic did this a while back (ok I admit I'm a big Weird Al fan too ...) with all of his Music Videos ... and it would be so fantastic if Meat did it too !! I found copies of Modern Girl and Rock N' Roll Mercenaries on other video tapes ... but have never seen Getting Away With Murder. Was it ever published :??:

Oh MB, thanks for the IKYIYDCB video from Meat's younger days - I think I had seen a portion of it but not the whole thing. (I believe I've got all his music now, but still working on the videos).

The DVD of Meat with the MSO will be wonderful. I agree with everyone else that a "making of" documentary would be great, either of the MSO collaboration itself or of CHSIB. He could explain to us what a counterpoint melody is, for example (he mentioned this in an interview - Polydor Flying Paper I think). Yes, lots of footage of Meat talking about music, or anything else, for that matter - just being himself.

And if there's any room left, pack it with videos!

WOW MB, thanx for the the clip, I am sad to say I am one who has never seen that video before. Whilst dreaming about having all of Meat's past collection onto one DVD, I would think this might be quite expensive, the fact that all the publishing rights are owned by different companies (example, Virgin, Sony, Arista etc), not putting this dream down, but will it be possible that each company will give the right to use these video's and will it cost a pretty packet. I don't mind paying the money if it is past on to us the customer, anything of ML's is worth the money. :D

Hi! Ian, sounds like you're going to have an unbelievable February/March this coming year!!!

Be sure to come back and tell us about Meat on Saturday Rove, okay? I tried to see if there was an Internet feed for it, but sadly, there was not!! :( Can't wait to hear all about it, though.

Jayd--you know, you're absolutely right. It must be pretty nigh impossible to gather all the rights, etc. to put a DVD together with ALL those videos. But then, I WAS talking about "dream of dreams"!

I love your idea about the multi-camera angles. I know who'd I love to zoom in on!!

Thank you, Vicki. I think that's wonderful and really encouraging news that some of the other DVDs have had "the making of" docs on them. Since it's Sanctuary Records who is likely to be doing both of them, we just might get lucky and get one, as well!! That would be great!

Then, I'm with Kathy and Maria! Load the rest with videos!!

You know, I've been thinking about FCOL and getting excited about finally hearing Meat sing it again. You all know that he sang a partial version of it in 1999 at a few venues, don't you? I had forgotten that and I went to check my ML list and sure enough, I found a couple of them. Would you like to hear one--in anticipation for what is to come?

This one is from London. (http://www.conubic.com/real/TOCaudio.html) You'll hear that it's somewhat different from the earlier live version (1978) I shared with you during Meat's Birthday Party here. It has a bit more band in it, a bit more background vocals. I just can't wait to hear what it'll be like with an entire symphony orchestra!!

Enjoy! Take good care, friends.

Hi MB and All

Yes next February/March should be unbelievable, just wish it was now. :D

Well Meat was the first guess and as always he took over the show. Alot of the very short interview was just talking about what Meat had talked about on Rove Live on Tuesday. However when Rove asked Meat if this is Meat's last world tour, Meat did say yes   . Meat was saying that he was thinking that he would be finished with it all, until last Dec 2002 when Jim sacked his management and emailed Meat asking if he wanted to do BAT 3, Meat said yes. Meat did say that he has no idea when Bat 3 would be done, as it will be finished when it's finished. Meat did not say that he would be touring with Bat 3 :( ,but well we can all hope (maybe not a world tour just a small tour to Australia  and every other place that loves Meat, hold on that would be a world tour )

Now just a side note, I have seen afew post on this forum about peolpe from a Jim site that don't want Meat and Jim to do Bat 3, well maybe they should just pull their heads in as it was Jim that wanted to do it and he was the one that asked Meat. Sorry to go off topic abit, but it was in the radio interview so it should be cool.

Meat was asked about his movies but they only asked about Fight Club again and Meat told us about all the actor's, crew etc just wanting to touch him when he was made up with the large fake tits on as Meat put it.

He told the girl on the show, as he did with the female reported on the Sunrise show, that if they walked down the street and charged man $5 to touch thier tits they would make lots and lots of money as it's all man want to do is touch them (sorry not trying to be rude but it's Meat words) . As always Meat had the Rove and the gang in stichers and just ran away with the time he had.

One thing that I think was sad is, they did not play any of the new CD songs or even ones from Bat 1 etc. But well it was great to hear Meat anyway.

Just another side note, I got my Australian copy of CHSIB with the bonus special live CD compiled by Meat loaf very cool.

May the force be with you, the MEAT force that is.

Hi, Ian! Thanks so much for coming back and sharing what happened on Saturday Rove! It doesn't matter if it's TV or radio, I love it when Meat just comes in and takes over. It sounded like a great interview!!

And don't apologize to us about what Meat has to say! He has a unique way of expressing himself, doesn't he?!!! I nearly fell off my chair from laughing at the idea that girls should offer $5 for men to touch their breasts!! I'm going to think about that during the 'lean times' here!! (Only kidding, guys!! )

Funny stuff!! He has such a great sense of humor and a way of looking at life....

Sorry that he didn't get to perform, though. But in just a few months, Ian, think of it, you'll be hearing LOTS more songs--up close and personal!!! :D

Is that the final appearance Meat has there this time around?? I haven't heard of any others. So, perhaps he'll be heading home now. He's got that doctor's appointment coming up in another week or so. Hope his throat is better!!!

Congrats on getting your CD!! Enjoy it! I am still waiting for mine to show up sometime. Can't wait!! :bunny:

Thanks again, Ian.

Also I did post this on another topic but just incase you did not see it, I found a link to same photo's of Meat at a HMV music store in QLD hope you enjoy them.

Hi, Ian! Thanks for the news about Meat and also for the link to the photos! They were wonderful and it was great to see him over there!! The CD signing looked like so much fun!!

As for his throat, Ian, Meat originally wrote a PM to me that he had \"burned his throat\" at a racetrack appearance he made in the middle of the first leg of the tour. He then had to cancel the next two concerts (ones I was scheduled to attend :( ), but he made it to Mexico after that to do two shows there, including the one which is now being shown on our DirecTV and cable. And, of course, he went on to finish the first leg of the tour, with some changes to the schedule.

However, I think that his throat problems were more than just this or developed into more than this...?? And I will direct you to Fire Ball's own post in the General Forum titled "Throat" (http://www.mlukfc.com/forums/showthread.php?t=2222) and you can read for yourself what has been going on since then with Meat's throat.

I know I'm not alone in praying that, by now, it's MUCH better and has continued to heal. There is such a short time until he begins the second leg of the tour in Germany and the UK...so, here's hoping--and sending all our healing thoughts in his direction!!

I hope this information helps you.

Take care!!

MB

MB, was he referring to the appearance at the CHSIB funny car race, or another event? I wonder how one "burns" their throat? Is it aggravated due to overuse/improper use. (IE, cheering loudly)? I know after I go to college football games my throat is sore and my voice distorted, but it goes away within 24 hours. (Then again, my throat is not my main employment, so it gets a lot less use than ML's) I'm just trying to understand what kind of burn this is.

Ian, thanks a million for the link to the pics. Meat really looks good in these pics, very healthy. No dark circles under the eyes like we've seen in other recent pics. I especially love the first pic and the one later on where he is flashing the classic Meat Loaf smile. Very cool. 8)

There are so many different conditions which can affect the vocal chords, from nodules, which are benign growths on the chords caused by repeated strain on the chords, to polyps and ulcers. Nodules are small and callous-like and usually grow in pairs (one on each chord), usually forming on areas of the vocal chords that receive the most pressure when the chords come together and vibrate (similar to the formation of a callous). None of these normally occur as the result of a single event, but are due to repeated/continued strain on the chords. All are frequent problems for professional singers

Then there's VCD, (vocal chord dysfunction, in which the sufferer experiences a "closing" of the throat, and restricted airway), often linked to asthma, for which ozyegen and lidocaine sprays may be used as treatment.

However, Meat referred to "fungus" in his post. You don't pick up a fungal infection from visiting a race track, nor from cheering, shouting or singing. There is a fungal infection, Coccidomycosis, which is endemic in California's Central valley. It can settle into the larynx and infect the joints that open and close the vocal chords - the arytenoids. So, while there is no paralysis, the affected chords are fixated and do not move very far from the midline.

Used to be a physio, and suffer occasionally from VCD myself :)

Hi, guys! Sherrie, yes, he was referring to the visit to the racetracek in Northern California the day before he was to sing in Lancaster. My hubby and I have thought and thought about what he meant by 'burning his throat'--it's an odd expression, isn't it? But he was yelling quite a lot in the excitement at the track, plus all the dust and the fuel (since he was in the pit area)...So, I guess a lot of things could have happened.

Caryl, you are absolutely right about people with asthma having to be careful about taking too much medication and steroids. I have the problem, myself, and am always a bit worried when I have to take a lot of the medications for a period of time to get the asthma back into control.

And I did see Meat during the 4 concerts right before all this happened use his inhaler at least once at each of the concerts, as well at the second Mexican show--where it wasn't readily available and he had to signal for it. (Some of the California shows, as well as the Mexican ones also had to be a problem for him because of the high altitude in places--it certainly doesn't help the breathing problems--found that out, myself, many times in Reno!!) So the continuation of Meat's throat problems--from the racetrack on--indeed, might be medication-induced, in part!

You know, Caryl, I had never heard about our Central Valley in California having a big problem with this kind of fungal infection. It is a very hot and dry area--with a lot of farmlands. So that was quite interesting for me to read. Meat was in Northern California when all this happened to him, but I moved a year and a half ago to an area very near the Central Valley, so I guess, perhaps, it's one more thing for me to be aware of and watch out for!! I thank you for that info, as well as the rest of the explanation!! :P

It also just occurred to me that the initial injury, whatever it was, at the racetrack may have left his throat more vulnerable and susceptible to infection from many different sources, so the entire issue may be much more complex than we realize. :(

So whatever is going on with Meat, let's just hope it, and he, are on the mend!! He's got SO many concerts in his very near future!!! And we can tell, by how he wrote that last message, he does not want to ever disappoint his fans (as if true fans ever would be!!) :!:

Love to all on this beautiful Sunday afternoon!
And stay well!!

Thank you MB for sharing that song again. It was a beautiful way to make my day brighter :D and thank you Ian for sharing those pictures, they were great.
Hopefully Meat's throat injury isn't more severe and complex than we think it is. I would hate to see him injure himself more keeping up with all those concerts just to please us, his fans.

Actually, I didn't say that :) If I were to say anything about overuse of medication and steroids, I would say ANY and EVERYone should beware of overuse of these.

My understanding is that Coccidomycosis is endemic in, not to Central California, so is not restricted to that area, just prevalent. And I mentioned it only as an example. Professional singers are prone to fungal attacks on their vocal chords, and singing his heart out at concerts is as likely to be the pre-conditioner as anything imo. I certainly wouldn't want to suggest that Meat had in any way brought it on himself by visiting the race track to promote CHSIB

Of course, not, Caryl! No one wants to suggest that!! Meat's injury according to his PM was that it happened while he was at the racetrack, not because he was there!

But the important thing now, for us all, is to hope and pray that he's doing better every day!!! :!:

You are very welcome, Maria!! Glad you enjoyed the song!! :D I love sharing things like this with everyone!! :bunny:

I've gotten some messages from people saying they were unable to come to Meat's birthday party and they wanted to hear the original live version of the song. So, here is a link to that one. (http://www.conubic.com/real/TOCaudio.html)

Enjoy, friends!! It's a great way to kick off the week!! :bunny:

Hi All

Thanks MB so much for the info and the link to Fire Ball's topic. I have a lot better idea what Meat and all of you guys are talking about now.

Happy that all you guys (MB, sherrie87 and shadow1000001) and maybe others too liked the photos. Meat does look good in them and it does look like Meat is just relaxing and have a good time meeting his fans.

Oh, MB, thank you for the 1978 FCOL - I just listened to it and I am so blown away I can hardly talk. type. whatever. There's something about a live performance, isn't there? And this is a REALLY good one. It's being a little rough around the edges makes it more real. Is this from a CD or video that's commercially available? I'm sure it would be out of print, but what is it from? Oh, wow.

Thanks also to everyone giving information about Meat's throat - I didn't understand about that, now I at least have an idea. I hope he's OK.

Hi!!

Ian, how wonderful! You're going to see one of the shows with the symphony!!! Now I REALLY am excited for you!! It's going to be a long 4 months, though, isn't it?!!! :?

What are your venues like, by the way? How many people can they hold? Are they totally seated or is there room for some standing areas?? Just curious about the kind of crowds Meat will have there.

Hi, Mariella and Kathy! Glad you got to hear the live FCOL from '78, finally. :D

Kathy, this one was taken from a radio show broadcast in 1978, so, no, there are no official recordings of the entire concert that I know of. Since Meat released only a limited amount of live material on albums or videos through the years, many of the live versions of the songs out here are either taped from TV or radio or audience recordings. That makes me sad, because to me, it's so amazing to be able to go, for example, all the way back to the beginnings--1978--with Meat and Karla and Jim--and hear what the songs orginally sounded like performed before an audience!! So these early recordings are truly treasures!!

Glad y'all enjoyed this one. 8)

Take good care.

Hi MB

Yes 4/5 long months.

Now you asked about the venues Mb. well Newcastle Ent Centre hold just under 6,200 peolpe and it is seated, they always say no standing but the last 2 show with Meat he asked the peolpe down the front to stand and dance if they wanted too and well they did lol.

Now Syndey Ent Centre holds about 12,500 and again it's seated and well as the same as Newcastle, Meat asked the people down the front to stand and dance etc if they wanted too.

Well MB the crowds are going to be great as they are always at a Meat show lol.

Like at the last show I saw of Meat in Sydney, i was seated next to a lady that had not see Meat live before. She was not sure she would like the show, but she was singing alone with me and the rest as the show went on lol. Then at the end of the show I asked her what did she think. She said she loved and well she said it was the best show she had seen and would see Meat again.

I think that is like most peolpe that maybe go to a show like Meat's and well is just not sure if they are going to like it or not. But well the show Meat's puts on is just so great that after you see it you just know he puts so much of himself into the show and it is just pure enterainment that they love it at the end also. just like the rest of us that have seen meat over the years.

Well I'm going on abit hey anyway, i hope that is the info you wanted to know MB.

Hi, Ian! Thanks for the information. Yes, that's what I was curious about. I had no idea the size of the venues there and what they are like.

Here, in my part of the country, the venues that Meat got to were fairly small, compared to yours. The largest of them that we went to, I believe, held about 5000 people. I'd like to go to one with thousands and thousands of screaming fans--just once!!

I know what you mean about new people coming to Meat's concerts and not being sure about how they'll feel and then they enjoy themselves and love the show.

Last year, during the Friends tour, at the second California ML concert we went to, we sat next to a very nice couple and got to talking with them. They were constantly going to concerts--seeing all sorts of people. But they had never seen Meat perform live before, and actually, didn't know much about him or the band. So, I shared what I could about everyone and then the concert got started. And I sort of watched them, at the same time I was, of course, watching the show. And within a few minutes, they were both jumping around and screaming and yelling and having a great time. They even managed to catch one of Meat's picks!!

When the concert was over with, I asked them what they thought, and the wife said to me, "This was the BEST concert we have EVER seen and we will never miss a Meat Loaf concert again!!!" Made me smile!! :D

So, you're right, Ian. Meat and the band do such a fantastic job that 'newbies' and 'oldies' alike walk out of there knowing they've just seen an amazing show and can't wait to do it again!!!

I know that I'VE always felt that way! I'm sure you have, too, and you certainly have some great shows also in your future, Ian!! :bunny:

Thanks again for the information! Take good care.
