View Full Version : What Meat Loaf is like in person

I know that the previous thread was shut down- it turned into a bit of a fight so...here's my shorty response.

I met him for the first time when I was 16, I had a big crush on him, I stuttered and could barely talk to him- I made a total ass of myself... I think most celebrities would have called security- Meat Loaf patiently waited for me to stop stuttering about a dance piece I had done to his music and said:

"thank you, that means a lot to me."

He then proceeded to autograph the mark sheet for my dance piece (I wanted to bring it back to the other girls in the piece)
AND he put his arm around me for the photo, thanked me AGAIN and smiled warmly.

The second time I met him, he had me come up on stage and do a part of Swan Lake- He took me seriously, and was VERY polite.

I read the previous post made by rockferris with regards to meeting Meat Loaf, and I would like to correct him. I have met Meat twice and can describe him fairly well in a few words:

Gracious
patient
EXTREMETLY respectfull
friendly

You know how people describe some celebrities as "really nice, for a celebrity" well Meat Loaf is really nice, for a person.

that needed to be said.
thank you

I've only met Meat once, and that was at the album signing. I spent the whole evening there, and he was nice to everyone. He thanked everyone who had bought the album and presented it to him for signing. He laughed and joked with those who presented something odd (like a bra, and someone gave hima bar of malt loaf!) He posed for photos even though the store manager said there would be no photos. And he made sure that he had seen everyone in the queue.

It was a wonderful evening, and I'm so glad to be one of the lucky ones who got a Meat 'n' Greet for Wembley. He has always come across as a warm person who treats others as equals, never egotistical.

Little Dancer? You were right, that needed to be said. It's just a shame that a few imbeciles have decided to go out of their way to upset Meat :(

I'll make this short & sweet (to the point): I've had the oppurtunity to meet Meat Loaf 5 Times, and everytime, he is always, polite, kind, just a "regular" guy, he doesn't act like he's better then you....it's great !!! If more celebrities were like Meat, the world would be a better place!

I can't even tell you how happy this statement (and the words of the others who have posted in this topic) makes me. I am always very hesitant to meet people that I admire, for fear that they will turn out to be quite unpleasant. I've even had it happen a few times, and while it may seem like just an annoyance to the celebrity, it can be quite crushing to the fan that has invested so much energy and emotion in the "star". The statements by everyone in this topic has made me admire Meat all the more- if only one day I could meet him myself so I can add my glowing story!

I agree with everything Little Dancer has said. I have found Meat to be unfailingly gracious, patient, kind, gentle, down to earth, and a little shy at the start.

Everything about him has always suggested to me he is the most unpretentious performer you could wish to meet, eschews "stardom" and celebrity status, and never fails to acknowledge what he owes his fans and express his gratitude to them.

Add to this he is a decent man, who competes against high internalised standards, who says his ambition is to be a better person each day, who when listing his "jobs" recently put "bringing up my family" at number one, and about whom I believe you can turn the old phrase on its head and say he understands the value of everything and doesn't count the cost :)

Heh - I'm 'only' 21, never met Meat, despite seeing him in concert 4 times now. I'm in for the M&G. Oh - and I have a stutter... So I'm kinda hoping he is as patient as you make out....

Meats a lovely man, very easy to talk to sinecure, I'm sure you'll have no problems speaking at all. Earlier on in the year I had an opportunity to talk to Meat and found him to be a very loving warm individual

Hopefully everyone will post a little bit about their M&G, so everyone on the board can get an idea of just how great Meat is!
