Hi all -

Just thought i'd pass on a bit of news - forgive me if this has already been posted here. I'm a regular over at the Better Than Ezra message board, and in a recent update, their lead singer/songwriter Kevin Griffin has confirmed that he is the songwriter of the title track of Meat Loaf's upcoming album. here's what he had to say on the subject - he had also talked in the past about writing the song specifically for Meat and how it's about a bad guy is riding in the desert when his truck breaks down and he happens upon a tent revival:

HOW FUNNY IS THE WHOLE MEAT LOAF THING? I WROTE THE SONG ON A LARK AFTER MEAT HEARD SOME OF OUR ALBUM, AND THE NEXT THING I KNOW, IT'S THE TITLE TRACK. WATCH OUT, IT'S GOT A GOSPEL CHOIR AND EVERYTHING!

Thanks for the news! We didn't know that. We knew that Meat's new album would be called Testify, but we didn't know there was also to be a track called that (well, at least I didn't anyway).

We'd be very grateful for any news regarding this that you pass on.

thanks for the welcome!

the url for the better than ezra site is http://www.betterthanezra.com - but ythe easiest way to find the message board is here: http://www.betterthanezra.com/cgi-bin/ultimatebb.cgi - you can find the info that kevin posted about the song under "kevin's tour journal"... If i think hard enough, i may remember where i first heard about him writing the song a year ago - they described in a radio interview that when BTE had just been signed to the Beyond label and were mastering their latest CD out in L.A. - that's where Meat heard their CD and liked it so much he asked kevin to write him a song.

Does Better Than Ezra already have a song similar to the song they are writing for Meat? I would like to get some sort of idea of what it may be like.

I heard a few months ago that Better Than Ezra were writing a song for Meat when Meat's bassist (Kasim Sulton) said that "the guys from Better Than Ezra are writing one for him" or words to that effect. I didn't know it was the title track though. Before then, I had never heard of them.

What is the name of their latest CD?
