Oh my god... someone PLEASE tell me this isnt true?!? From Reuters news http://www.reuters.co.uk/newsArticle.jhtml?type=topNews&storyID=3842796

"LONDON (Reuters) - American rock star Meat Loaf has been taken to hospital in London after collapsing during a concert, his record company says. The 56-year-old singer "collapsed from exhaustion due to a prolonged viral infection. It is not life-threatening," a company spokesman said on Tuesday.

Meat Loaf, famed for his mega-hit "Bat Out Of Hell", collapsed in the middle of Monday night's concert at London's Wembley Arena, tried to perform another song but on advice from paramedics was taken to the nearest hospital.

His sell-out concert on Tuesday night was cancelled on doctors' orders. "Meat Loaf will be re-evaluated by doctors today and further information about his status will be made available," a hospital statement said."

This "rushed to hospital" part is over-dramatic news talk.

Meat Loaf was taken to hospital last night and kept in overnight but he didn't leave Wembley until almost an hour after he stopped the concert (I was driving past the gates when it happened). Once he was in the ambulance it took them quite a while before they pulled out of the Wembley gates and I think the only reason that the flashing lights were used was because there was a long stream of cars trying to get out of the Wembley complex.

Meat Loaf has been ill for almost two weeks now so I think the best place for him IS hospital so that they can find out why it's taking him so long to recover and cure him.

Not almost, but he has been ill for 2 weeks now. Maybe it started all after Trier on the second. And btw, there was an ambulance outside too, but Meat was not in it.

Agree completely with you Sue - the best place for Meat really IS in the hospital. I'm sure as well, that deep down, stubborn as he is, Meat knows this and here's hoping he's gonna get the proper medical attention he obviously needs.

Meat has had one hell of a year with sickness and hospitalization, and i'm praying that once he's feeling better that will be an end to it, and he'll be fighting fit and raring to go. He must feel under so much pressure at the moment - he's a very determined man and i know he hates to feel as though he has let his fans down, but we his fans would rather have a cancelled concert that is rescheduled then to see him completely blown out through continuing to work when he is so ill.

Here's hoping you get better soon, Meat.

You mean an ambulance in Trier? As far as I know, there's an ambulance at any concert all the time. Not for the artist, but just in case someone needs to be rushed to a hospital (people in the audience or artists).

meat needs to stay in the hospital and get the fluids he needs and medicine to fight whatever he has. i ama doctor and i know tha tthis is nothing to play around with . thses virus 's can take along time to recover and it can make you weak and short of breathe. continuing on with the tour is only going to make him weaker and the virus will continue to get stronger. please meat take it easy

Hi .... I have never posted on here before but i just wanted to pop in and wish meat a quick recovery. I was at wembley last nite and seeing him collapse was awful .... here's hoping he's back to his former glory real soon - and if any of the moaners who chewed the ears of the poor stewards happen to read this you guys are verrrry selfish and should be ashamed of yourselves .... any true meat fans where to busy worrying about meat to give two hoots about value for money .... give the poor guy a break he did his very best for us :D

I agree with you Mrs Badcrumble! The posters who chose to come to these forums just to piss and moan about how much money they spent should be very ashamed! Our concern should be with Meat, his health and his family! I am certain that he will make it up to everyone...just give him time to recuperate!

On another note...I found a link that indicated that Meat was at the Northwick Park Hospital in London. Is there a possibility that someone over there could send him some flowers from all of us? Just thinking outloud WAY over here in the US.....

Just had a text message from Chris, saying that on radio two news it has been reported that Meat is in hospital with a prolonged viral infection (flu) and will be there on antibiotics for the next 48 hours.

Also on Radio two, they have played Man Of Steel 3 times with the message 'Get well soon to the ultimate man of steel'

I got Invicta Radio to put a message out today re Meat AND they covered it on their celeb news.

I thought I would be sad not to be going tonight but God, if this makes Meat get a grip and take care of himself that will be brilliant. Think I would be going crazy at him if I knew him personally!!!!!!!!!!

Would be good to send a card or flowers to him?? Any idea's??

I really hope Meat gets well real soon. Is looking more and more likely that Sheffield on saturday will be cancelled, but you know what? - I'm not the least bit bothered. All that matters is Meat's health, and I'm sure he is in the best of hands. And probably flirting terribly with all the pretty young nurses.... :D

But seriously, I think we can all see the measure of the man from the events of the last day. He was obviously in no state to perform, and that he chose to go ahead says a lot about the Meat Loaf we all love. I hope I would have as much strength and courage as him in the same situation.

And to think people were actually booing as he went off stage. this sickens and disgusts me in a way I cannot describe. for all they knew, the man could have been dying! Thank heaven that it wasn' that serious, but how could these half-humans have known that? I hope they are feeling as low as Meat probably is right about now.

I can't say much more tha has already been said svereal times by people more wordy than me, so I just want to repeat my best wishes to Meat, his family, crew and band, and to let them know that our thoughts are with them all right now.

God speed to recovery Meat

A direct message to the man himself,

Meat, what have you done son? Ignorin' your doctor's orders like that. I's asay you best be gettin' your beauty rest. Y'know you're important to us, an' mean the world to most of us. You know I almost had to go to the hospital, but I was to stubborn for not letting my school take me. I was told it has to do with alsers (ALL-SURS). Too much stress  . Something about holes in my stomach? I didn't quite listen to my teacher's details.

But the point of this message to say is, Meat, you getz your self better son, we all love ya here at MLUKFC, and think twice next time when your rockin. There's a time to rock, and then there is a time to rock n sleep, and get your beauty rest. Get better and Keep Rockin'!! Cause you are the man!!!!!

8O some people were booing??? They should commend a man that don't want to feel he's letting his fans down by cancelling and give it his best shot.
This makes me so sad. Imagine how that must have made Meat feel, if he heard it.

That is NOT done. I can understand people being disappointed that he wasn't able to finish the concert, but they all could see the reason.

In Oberhausen, he performed while being ill and having a fever, and he was able to give a great performance for 2,5 hours. I have great respect for that. But if he had to stop in the middle because he just couldn't finish: I would never booh him. I would still have respected him for trying.

This flu is nasty. I had it 8 weeks ago and was ill for 4 weeks, and not feeling too well and tired for a further 2 weeks. Like Meat I am 56.

My sister (54) and brother (55) both caught it a few days after me, but were in France for a 5 day holiday. Linda was so ill on the plane coming home, they thought she was going to die! She was taken to hospital and was in for 5 days. She was very poorly and not responding to anti-biotics for the first 3 days. She was very weak when she came home and needed a lot of help just to wash and eat.

My brother Chris was on antibiotics and was ill for many weeks - he is still not 100% and has an enlarged heart so he has to be very careful. At one point I was going to the hospital to see Linda, after taking my brother a meal or shopping for him - all this after a normal day's work and caring for my grandchild who is 4.

The message to Meat is look after number one! To booing fans - what if Meat was your brother or father????

Heather.

I wrote some time back that I was very concerned about Meat's health. Could this tour be plagued by any more problems? I think this all goes back to the beginning of the tour right after he had surgery! I'm sure he went back on the road much sooner than his doctor wanted him too. I know he felt an obligation to be out there.

However, I just had surgery myself and the doctor said it would be at least 6 weeks of recovery time. Well it is 4 now and I'm slowly getting better, but I surely wouldn't want to be on the road touring after this ordeal!

Also, is he taking anything to keep him going? Didn't he fall from the stage not too long ago. I am very worried about Meat.

Anyway, it takes a while to recover from surgery. If he wasn't fully recovered and tires himself each night and "burns the candle at both ends" he is bound to end up with whatever is going around, like the flu or other viruses. I just pray they find out what is wrong and he takes his stubborn self and listens to his doctors! I'm concerned that he could end up with pneumonia if he ignores his health. Hey, I had a friend last year that started out with a simple cold and instead of resting, kept going to work, thinking the world would stop if they didn't go to work. Anyway, they ended up with bronchitis on the verge of pneumonia!! We had another guy at work about 6 months ago end up in the hospital for pneumonia--he has been out of commission for 6 months!!!

This is serious stuff. I'm sure all fans would prefer Meat would get completely well instead of continue if he is not well. Meat please listen, we care and you are more important to us than this tour continuing if you aren't well!
