Me and my partner were discussing getting married and as we walk into the registery office he wants Bryan Adams Everything I do I do It For You. So Ive told him I want a Meat loaf song playing at the reception, but cant decide which one. So what do u all think.
I had Anything For Love played at our engagement party, my friend says its a pity I cant have the real thing singing at the wedding, but I can always dream cant I

Why not contact Steve Steinman and see about having him play at your reception? He is excellent, the very best tribute Ive seen (and Ive seen a lot). You can contact him through this forum cos he posts on here and he always replies. Don't know how much he would charge tho cos theres 6 of them in the band.
Good luck and hey i want an invite if Steve is playing !

Heya Deb-
I suppose it would depend on how you wanted to 'use' the song- for instance, Paradise By the Dashboard light goes over very well after dinner (and once people have had a glass of wine or two :p ) For Crying Out Loud (in my opinion) is one of the most romantic songs of all time-but it's also quite long and personal, so it depends on your guests...and at what point in the evening your going to play this.
I would say that a nice happy medium might be Because of you off of CHSIB(I know somebody allready suggested that one, sorry- but I think it's your best bet for a 'romantic slow dance')
What a choice!!
I hope if my boy and I EVER get married (no, 3 years isn't too long to wait for the question grrrrrr  - just kidding  ) but I hope he'll expect at least A FEW Meat Loaf songs...it's just too hard to decide
Congratulations, by the way!

I had Anything for Love for one of the songs and then later in the evening the DJ played Paradise and Bat Out Of Hell for me.

I've always been a bit partial to No Matter What/Home By Now. Of course, now I'm thinking about my two boy's weddings (hopefully not for a bit yet!), but I've made them swear that Forever Young will be played when we dance. 8)

I have to agree with those who have said "Because of You"- it's got slow bits, fast bits, great romantic lyrics. My one regret about my wedding was that it was held at church hall- hence, NO "secular" music was allowed- and ML certainly qualifies as secular. My favorite part of most weddings is the music and dancing, so we did sort of miss out. I hope you get to completely rock out at yours!

When I met Carl my husband to be he did not know much about Meat's music and the only song he had heard by Meat was "Bat Out of Hell", and I wanted Meat Loaf's music played at my wedding. So needless to say I had to expose him to the other love of my life Meat's music.
When we got married July 21, 1998 in the background was playing "Surf's Up", by none other then Meat Loaf and then at the reception we played the whole "Welcome to the Neighborhood", cd.
I pick "Surf's UP' as a great wedding song, after all it was played at my wedding. :)

At my wedding in 2000, I had 'Man and a Woman', from the 'Blind Before I Stop' album - not one of the most well known songs, but a personal favourite of mine.
It's worth looking at some of the older albums - Special Girl is one of the most romantic songs I've heard.

When I married in 1996, my bestest, bestest friend (Mrs Badcrumble somewhere on a mlukfc message board) arranged as a special surprise for the Meat Loaf look alike who had appeared on Stars in their Eyes that year to come and sing / perform at our reception. So I had them all! I have some wonderful memories of the day, and photos too. One of which was us singing Dead Ringer together (he asked if I knew the words - daft question!!). In some of the photos it really does look as if the man himself was there!

I had 'Paradise By The Dashboard Light' played at my wedding reception...it was a tad long though.
'Heaven Can Wait' would be a nice one though.

"Two Out of Three" - JUST for the comedic value! Imagine the look on the everyone's face!
On a serious note......I would probably go for AFL. You cannot go wrong with a song about "that"!
jo
Me and my fiance'e decided on Because Of You, this seems by far the best song for a wedding. It was between this and Don't wanna Miss A Thing by Aerosmith, but I won. :D

A. The song played as she walks down the isle is Heaven Can Wait 8) .
2. I get to get married in my Meat loaf suit  .
As for the reception, forget "playing" Meat Loaf, i'll be on stage all night singing Meat Loaf songs instead  .
hi i got married 6 y ago & had " no more than " played on our way out of the church good luck to the future any track will do its your wedding just remember to keep on rockin:D

I got married in July this year and we had "Because Of You" played as we walked in to the Registry Office, I think the song says it all. It still brings a tear to the eye!!! People still ask about the song now.
Incidentally when I die (which I hope is in many years to come) I want them to play Heaven Can Wait.
See the sparks fly when you standing by my side.

I love your logic pinky. anything for love was the song that got me into meat loaf so i definately want that played, also had it played at my engagement party so Ive got to continue with the tradition.
I was also thinking about because of you or paradise.
My friend says I have definately got to have paradise played as it is one of his favourite meat loaf songs.

I think I'd have either Anything For Love or I'd Lie For You.
Hopefully, it won't be either as I am already married and want it to stay that way.

When we got married in 1990 my husband wore a black shirt, red tie and white jacket as in razors edge. father in law said you can't wear black for a wedding  .
When i die i want life is a lemon played at my funeral.
The church we married in let us played taped music so we didn't have any hyms. Unfortunately groovy kind of love was No1 when we met and other half is a big Phil Collins fan. So we ended up with that.

If I ever find that Mr Right, I want "Love You Out Loud." Not sure how well that will go over, but I love that song. If sounds great in my truck/suv. Still haven't figured what it is, but it's big with big sounds.
I know Meat would look good driving it with Kas in the pass. seat and me with a big smile in the back.
You guys are all so cute!! Marriage iam not sure if I could do it. I 've been single so long that it's great. House is little to big for one. some kids and a hubby and a dog and cat would fill it. Anywho - maybe someday still have time.

When I get married I'm going to have Anything for Love played for the first dance, then everything else after, dont think the best day of my life would be the same without it!
me? married? never   hmm, which would i play? anything for love, for crying out loud & bat out of hell. o and from the new album... love you out loud and if we ever get into an argument, i would play,
you're right i was wrong!

Blimey, I'm only 17 and I've often fantasised about this:
I'd have Because Of You at the actual service, then at the reception I'd have pretty much everything :D - Bat, Anything For Love, Did I say That, and especially CHSIB!!!
On a side note, I'd definitely have Forever Young at my son/daughter's christening or maybe their own marriage reception. I love that song so much - so simple and yet so powerful.
hehe, you lot are soooo fun- i can't believe how many of you had meat songs at the reception, though tbf i'll probably do the same if i ever get married, which i'm not really planning to do- single forever me!
i guess i'd either have AFL or forever young
hehe, me getting married?!? very funny image i can assure you
When i got married we didn't have any music or anything, but our 'Meat' song is 2 out of 3.
Otherwise it's Catatonia's 'You're doing my head in'.....

Everbody has such good suggestions... :) I would suggest AFL or because of you because they are really wonderful songs. A lot of you lucky people had Meat songs at your receptions...If I ever get married, I will have Meat songs or I will bribe the DJ. Whoever the poor guy is will get over it. Debs, bribe whoever you have to, you deserve to be able to have the songs you want.

Hallelujah - Jeff Buckley. It's not Meat, but by God is it a good song for weddings and funerals alike.

I just think No Matter What for many reasons, but especially the lines...
"No matter what they call US / however they attack / no matter where they take US / we'll find OUR own way back..."
and of course...
"No matter what the ending / my life began with you..."
I guess i believe marriage should truly be about friendship, and to me, No Matter What is a very noble song also about friendship :)
Ewan :)
no matter what is a great song but if we're not having meat my choice would be everything i do (i do it for you)- ahhh i love that song soooooo much!

When I got married we had Shania Twain 'From this moment' whilst we signed the register in the church (very romantic, everyone cried!!) and our first dance was Aerosmith 'Don't wanna miss a thing' ... but maybe Meat songs you could have at your wedding(s) could be .... 'Surfs Up', 'Two out of Three', 'Heaven can wait', 'I'd do anything for love' ..... hmmmm ...... I think you're all nuts!!!! It's difficult just to pick one song that you could have though .... I wouldn't be able to pick just one .... maybe when your married and you're coming back up the aisle you could have 'Bat out of Hell'!!!! :D
I'd like to get married again though (to my fella) .... I loved the whole day, everything for me was perfect .... and we got married on Friday 13th, our bridesmaids wore green (which is an unlucky colour for a wedding) and no doubt I broke all sorts of other superstitions as well!!
My sister gets married next year (in September) she's having a civil ceremony and is looking for a song to walk down the aisle to ... she doesn't want anything soppy, something happy, anybody got any suggestions?! We're desperately trying to find a suitable song, so far we've come up with It must be love by Madness, White Wedding by Billy Idol, It had to be You from 'When Harry Met Sally', 'Bring your daughter to the Slaughter' by Iron Maiden ..... what do you guys think?! :D :?
Shelly xxxxxxxxxxxx
p.s. sorry for babbling on  .... I do when my head is full!! I'm going to see Iron Maiden tonight at the MEN Arena so no doubt you'll get no sense from me for the next few weeks until my hearing comes back!!!!!!
In true Neighbours-style, it would have to be
Angry Anderson - Suddenly!!
Meat-wise maybe Anything for love, I'd lie for you or Paradise
However, I ain't gonna get married (too much like hard work) so it won't really be an issue!!

If it's the girl I think about when I listen to meat's music.
Couldn't have set it better
I know I do, I'll have 2 promise him paradise om our wedding night  Then Ill get played the songs I want, lol
Debs :lmao:
The heck with just playing the song! Tell him you 2 can just act it out . . . you can be Patty and he can be Meat and take it from there . . . 'course you might want to skip the Phil Rizzuto but . . .
I think I'd agree with AFL or BOY. However, I don't think I'll ever get married again. The last relationship took far too much out of me for me to let anyone near my heart. I gave it up for lent.
