View Full Version : Chat?!????
Hi,
I tried to use the chat room last night but hit problems.
When I joined, messages wappeared in groups rather than as they were posted. Does anyone know why this happens and how to fix it?
Also, when does the chat start? (I am on British Summer Time!)
Cheers
Chris
Hiya Chris,
The chat starts at 9.00 ( our time! :p )
I tend to find that when I first go into chat it's all fine and the text appears as it's posted, but it sometimes starts to appear in groups quite late on towards the end ( usually if I've been on about and hour and a half - something like that ) but I always figured that it was just because by that time we've all been hammering hell out of the poor chat room for hours!!! If you come earlier on then it might not happen
Like I said last night folks, I won't be in chat next week ( I'm going to Silverstone! ) and I know that it'll be extremely hard for you all with me not being there but please, be strong, support each other and I'm sure you'll be able to pull each other through, I just hope that my absense doesn't leave a void in your lives
See y'all soon
Lucy!
Yeah - we had a bumpy ride on yesterdays chat.
Some hints:
If you are connecting through a proxyserver, you may need to check the Safe Mode box.
Chat works only on Internet Exploder 4+, NS 4.x, Netscape 6+ and Mozilla. Konqueror on Linux may work.
If you are using a Mac, you're out of luck. There's something severly screvved up with Javascript on most Mac browsers.
Basically, when you're not using safe mode, the chat is nothing more than a neverending webpage. After 1 hour this page may consume a lot of memory on your computer. I'm just guessing here, but 32 megabytes sounds very likely to me.
As for getting kicked out, this may just be a burp somewhere on the route to mlukfc.com. If the connection gets disturbed, the chatroom kicks you immediately. Otherwise we would have a lot of zombies in chat. :))
Oh btw, until now I never kicked a user on purpose. But yesterday I was just a click away. Luckily that problem vanished into thin air. 8O
Hope that helps.
