I brought it up in the topic on Kasim Sulton (with LIARS or something, etc.) and I was saying - would it be likely that Meat Loaf would appear in Jim Stienman's BATMAN-THE MUSICAL? I think he will play Joker, if he does. Rumour says that he and Robert Evans had made demos for the show, a few months back.... but that was from some sleazy source. Opinions anyone? Fireball? Can you clear us all up about BATMAN?

What you think if Meat play penguin? Or two-face? But Meat would be a great Joker. Honestly. :D

If Meat Loat was in it I would definately be watching it and I don't even like Batman.
Here's hoping he'll be in it.
I'm not a Batman fan either or a comic book fan full stop but I'd deffinatly want to see, imagine how dark and edgy Jim Steinman and Tim Burton r going to make it.

It's certainly not gonna be the campy one from the 70s. Alot of cynicists (the fans of the BATMAN comic books) think it'll be stupid and campy, with lots of funny dialogue, and big songs like I'D DO ANYTHING FOR LOVE. Actually, it's the complete opposite. It's very much like the Burton movies (the first one) and Brechtian. It's like a cosmic German cabaret - with huge dark choral routines, and very symphonic, and erotic, and astonishingly deep and romantic. Can't even describe the mood - it's a culmination of all feelings that are dark and gothic, but still hilarious in a strange way. I think you'll really like it.

Should be utterly hilarious. In a good way. Batman in the style of Brecht!? And with Steinman. . .this should be very, very interesting.

Yes. Very dark and political. Jewish businessmen in the 30s depression. And also very icy. The music is like Surabaya Johnny, or Threepenny Opera, and some of the stuff from DREAM ENGINE - and it goes alot more to Steinman's roots than all that Meat Loaf stuff. WHilst it retains that epic flavour of the BAT series, it's much more sharp and sophisticated, with less excess. Even though excess is good, it only works on albums... (did TANZ DER VAMPIRE had 31 fifteen-minute tracks with interspersed slabs of dialogue? Nooo...). I should be seeing the show in 2005 - I won't miss it. I only hope New York accepts this one, even though DOTV was an obvious mistake, and at one time in our lives we all experience a bad thing that we can't do anything about.
I Love the idea of Steinman doing BATMAN, I know it will be great. I know I personally won't be able to see it though, because I don't live anywhere near a theatre where Jim's great pieces are played. We do have one theatre, but personally I know Batman, won't make it here. If they were to put it on DVD, I would definetly buy it! Meat Loaf in BatMan? hmm maybe. Depends who the character was, I guess. :)
I know this is an old thread and I might be a day late and a pound short...but I have received this today in the news and it looks like it was updated today...

There's a couple of similar news articles at the moment, but I think we can safely say it's all bullshit.

This is not a thread about The Dance of the Vampires.
There is a separate thread for it:

Two of the biggest musical websites www.playbill.com and www.broadwayworld.com don't mention anything, plus there's been no rumblings amongst the Steinman fans at all.
I'd safely say it's a big hoax cooked up by someone with an overactive imagination, who desperatley wants to see this musical happen, but sadly it won't.

What are the chances of Meat doing a stage show?? You don't retire from touring only to sing on stage every night??
And its incredibly unlikely that Meat would record demos for Steinman , but that WOULD explain how he's got In The Land of the Pigs on Bat 3, if he knew the song from working with Jim doing Batman demos.
Not that doing demos for a show production bares any relation to having a chance of being IN the show production...

My newest guess:
Meat is going to finish the Bat3-world-tour, takin some time at home and then playing in Batman. With 3 years older, gray hair and a beard hes just right for playin Alfred.

Point taken. ;-)
I understand everything that is being posted on this thread, however, I don't understand one thing...
Suppose Batman The Musical ever happened...who said that Meat has to be in it for it to actually happen?
This is just a theoretical question, mind yourselves...
We are fanatics - our staple diet is bullshit :)
Without that mad and wacky thought or suggestion of something completely improbable, we'd all go sane.
