View Full Version : Choice of newspaper for Thursday
Just back from Manchester..... if you're in the UK and feeling Meaty starved from Media snippets, then the Daily Mirror is the paper to buy tomorrow :D
Can you give us an inkling why? I'll buy it anyway :)
Coz Meat said he'll be in it'll be his response to an article that was printed in it today that caused him a 5 minute rant mid-show - a rant that made him forget what song he was about to sing :D

must be about the pop idol girl who doesnt want to be compared to Meat as she thinks she is pretty and he isnt. shes lost my vote now (well i wasnt going to vote anyway as i dont watch it but thats besides the point)
I hope if she wins they dont ask her and meat to do a Duet or somethin stupid. She shoulda been flattered with the comparison.......she'll go nowhere like the rest of them. obvoiusly her one minute of fame has got to her head already -
"Pop Idol judge Simon Cowell has backed her to win - but she wishes he had not compared her to hefty US rocker Meat Loaf on a recent show. She says: "I don't think I look like Meat loaf. I hope I don't... Meat Loaf is not attractive. I think I'm attractive."
for the full article its online at: http://www.mirror.co.uk/news/allnews/page.cfm?objectid=13732223&method=full&siteid=50143.
I get the feeling she "loves herself"

The rant during the show, along with his mickey take of Justin Timberlake, was quite possibly the funniest and best moment of my year so far! Ok, well maybe thats an exaggeration but you get the picture!

I think I might be blind but have got the Daily Mirror this morning and can't find the article on Meat Loaf. It someone can tell me where it is it would be a great help.
I think it may be missing because of the verdict coming through on Ian Huntley and Maxine Carr as this fills most of the paper. It must be such a relief to Jessica and Holly's families that that part of the ordeal is over.

I agree, but I also think one of the funniest moments was his interaction with Michael (I don't know the wortds). Then when he snogged him I almost collapsed with envy.
The music , the lighting, everything was brilliant last night. the only thing that spoilt it for me was my fear of heights. We were sat so high up the ticket shoud have been sold with oxygen and a parachute. Iwas paralysed with fear and daren't move from 7.15 to 8.30pm. but I did finally manage to relax enough to enjoy the music but I was still gripping both the seat arm and my friends arm for the whole show.
This is testimony as to how much I wanted to 'the man' in that I managed to last the course without making a fool of myself. When we left I never lifted my eyes from the floor until we got to the main steps leading down to the entrance.
I will go to see him again whenever possible but next time I want a seat at ground level then I think my enjoyment will be trebled.
i don't think anyone actually believed that there would be something in the paper about meats reply to that fat scottish monster... but was still a really funny ripping session... and the not singing guy was clearly a plant :p... but it was still funny though.
Show was pretty amazing but I though I was expecting way too much going into it and no matter what, I don;t think those expectations could have been met... but, the 21 year wait is over and I've now seen Mr. Loaf.

she doesnt think Meat is attractive? she should've gone to specsavers.....
Oh come on you don't think you are being a bit harsh on her (I don't watch pop idol and this is the first I have heard of her!) However the quote in the mirror goes..
Pop Idol judge Simon Cowell has backed her to win - but she wishes he had not compared her to hefty US rocker Meat Loaf on a recent show. She says: "I don't think I look like Meat loaf. I hope I don't... Meat Loaf is not attractive. I think I'm attractive.
"I'm very comfortable with myself, if I didn't there's no way I would have done this show, I would have dropped out a long time ago. I'm not the most stunning woman, but I'm not ugly.
"Meat Loaf is not attractive to me, but I love his voice."
Just because she finds what is attractive to you guys, un-attractive to her I don't think there is any reason to call her be quite so mean to her.
At the end of the day she is similar to Meat Loaf in the simple fact of having a few more pounds than the average singer.
So what if she doesn't find him attractive. some people probably find Leonardo diCaprio unattractive, and others think he's a sex god.
At the end of the day she has said very clearly that she loves his voice and since predominantly they are both singers that is all that should matter!

I agree about the height thing - we were in block 207 row N and couldn't believe how high it was! It was practically vertical!
At the time I didn't think Mike was a plant, perhaps he was but it was still hilarious.
Regarding meeting expectations, I saw him in Liverpool last year on the summer fun tour, and this made that look like a teddy bears tea party. When the wasted youth speech was going and the light show started, I could barely control myself with excitement! A truly magical evening.
Friday's Mirror has this article in it. Meat's response to Michelle McManus comparison.. as adapted of course, by the Daily Mirror

Its fair enough if Michelle didnt think Meat was attractive but she didnt need to broadcast it for all to hear Meat has accumulated 25 years odds worth of fans and thats a lot of people not to be reckoned with!
