I have seen the previous Lord of The Rings, my daughter wanted to go and since I enjoy spending time with her I agreed to go thinking that I would not like it, but I did enjoy it very much.

My daughter and I plan on seeing the one that was just released after
Xmas, I hope it is equally as good as the previous one. :)

Oh, my daughter is a big fan of J.R.R. Tolkien and was not too happy that they strayed away from the original story line in some areas but all in all she was rather pleased with the movie also.

I love the books, I love the audio recording... and I love the films the most! I am sooo excited about seeing The Return Of The King - Yaaaaayyy!!!! :D :D :D :D Lord of the Rings is something you surely MUST have seen, even if you are no fantasy fan. :D And geez there's so much to look at for the girls...! :wink: :lol:

So don't know about part 2 and 3. Heard good things about it. BUt i will wait till i can rent the dvd orso... or when it will come on tv.

oh it sooooo fantastic! :D

The best of the 3 and i'm a stickler for the stories, i went insane with all the un-neccessary Arwen moments, and the elves do NOT go to helms deep and i was upset they didn't include a couple of really fab moments in the 3rd one, but its over 3 hrs as it is so i guess i can forgive Peter Jackson :D

Its really touching and a fantastic adaptation of the books- it touched me as much if not more than the books, and the books made me cry :cry: so you can imagine how many tissues i got through watching the movie! :oops:

Today, me and Keith went to see ROTK - absolutely brilliant!!! :twisted: :twisted: :twisted: Well, all the coke I had before made me miss some of it (toilet in the most inappropriate moment :evil: ) - soooo that definitely means I will have to see it again! :wink: I was somewhat disappointed by the ending though; I thought it was a bit too long; but geez, these films do have the most stunning effects and fighting scenes in them that you could ever imagine. :D :D :D One thing I don't like though is that little children are allowed to watch LOTR... it shouldn't be allowed, not even if they are only allowed to see it when adults are with them. Even I had to look away at a few occasions (and usually I love horror), sooo... not suitable for kids :!: :!: :!:

I saw the first part but I'm not a sci-fi fan...
I go to the movies almost everyday (we have an inlimited card here! ) and I'm not looking forward to see the 2nd and 3rd part!!! sorry! :?

The last movies I really really enjoyed were "The Hours" directed by Stephen Baldry and "Elephant" directed by Gus Van Sant... 8)
"Love Actually" was funny... (despite of the :P meat loaf running gag!)

Well, personally, I don't think that Lord Of The Rings has anything to do with science fiction. If you'd have to lable it, I'd say it's an fantasy / adventure movie.

Personally, I love the book. I've seen the 1st two movies, and they are very good. I don't think that they are that good as they are hyped up to be, but still, they are very, very well put together. I don't think that anyone can deny that. It may not be your cup of tea, but that is another thing.
Personally, I'm looking forward to seeing the last part.

I know, that is why I'm always reluctant to see movies based on books by Stephen King... IT, anyone? I love the Harry Potter books, I've seen the first movie, and it totally blew...
But no matter if you've read LotR, the movies are very good. The locations are right, the filming is superb, as a movie - they work very well. And if a movie is great, I can see past some liberal changes they made re: the books. Some complained they left out a character named Tom Bombadil. In the course of the events, he adds little to the story - so I can understand why they've cut him from the LotR:FotR.
On the other hand, I saw Jurassic Park before I read the book. I can't say I really enjoyed the book.
I hope this all somehow makes sense. I'm just trying to say that no matter if you're into fantasy, love the books, or whatever - that the LotR movies are great movies based on their own right as movies.

I saw this movie yesterday. It is an amazing movie. It is perfect, there are no words to describe it. 8)

It's a good film, and a fitting ending to the trilogy, although it strays the furthest from the Tolkien storyline of the three books.

The effects are spectacular, but they were all overshadowed somewhat by the second film.... and too derivative of other films for my liking - anyone else think the Oliphant battle scenes were reminiscent of the opening battle in The Empire Strikes Back?

As individual films go The Two Towers is the best of the three. ROTK drags out too much in places, too many unnecessary scenes and too many important parts of the story cut - where was The Scouring of The Shire? A major section of the ending of the story left untold.

George Lucas must be frantically re-editing and re-shooting scenes for the next Star Wars as he's been overshadowed twice now :D
