According to the Jim board and following their link - you can hear an amazing (in my opinion) song that Meat seemed to have turned down recording after it was demoed for him. I can understand them not wanting it on Bat 2 but i would thought this song would have been amazing on CHSIB. Its called a date with destiny and if you go to
http://www.melodicrock.com/cd/
Its number 7 and you can hear a minute of it. Personally i would have loved Meat to release this song. The description given for it is:
"A killer ballad that features only Gregg's vocal and a piano. The song was originally written and demoed for Meatloaf, but never used"

I liked the tittle A LOT...like the actual song even better!
WOW, that is one beautiful song...shivers!
It would be GREAT to hear Meat sing this one! Did Jim Steinman write this?
Thank you for the link!

No someone called Gregg Fulkerson wrote it for Bat 2 but it was never used as Bat 2 was to be 100% Steinman material. In my opinion it has it all for a great Meat track, even its name sounds great. How it never made WTTN or CHSIB i'll never know????

Id love to hear the whole thing too but i think the only way is to buy the melodicrock CD. Ebay might have it cheaper
From its tone to its name it has it could pass as a Jim song in my opinion. The sample we hear tho could be the start or middle, i get the feeling there is a lot more to come from the whole song.

To me, but I was 100% sure Testify would be the next 'classic'...and see what happened with that...this song also seems very special.
We may never know why it was not recorded (could be so many reasons for that)...but it does have 'that special-feeling' of a 'could-be-classic' to me.
Like a Joe Cocker song...just 'better' once Meat would do the singing...REAL emotions, I gues...and I love JOE!

That's a lovely song, just the ticket for Meat I would have thought. Love the piano on it. Thanks for the link. :)

Heard the original full version of the song and I have to say its sounds so much like something Meat would sing, and something that would be a hit. The full version is very fast paced and has background vocals very similar to a lot of the Bat stuff. I think it could be one of the greatest non-released songs ever, its such a sin that noone has released it.
The version on melodicrock rock is the lead singer recording it again in 2003
Id love to fireballs view on this one?

Wow Meat you gotta sing this! This reminds me alot of both For Crying Out Loud and Heavan Can Wait, same piano-singing style.

I agree, if Meat did this song it would be beautiful!

I love this song. How would I be able to sing it on MY album? They don't leave any contact addresses for this Gregg guy... anywayz. Meat was a fool for not singing it. A pretty damned fool ! and yes! I have the guts to say this (before Fireball screams at me)

I finally also listened to the faster version, from '93, I believe. I must say I liked the slower version A LOT better. However great lyrics! Thank you!

I think now is a good time to give this thread a bump.......the song wasn't good enough for Bat 2...or in an interview Blue Tears say it was left of the album because Jim wanted all his own songs on it......so.....will it be on Bat III or even be a possibility?

Lol I just stumbled across this thread because I found the song title mentioned elsewhere and see someone else in NI was the last to bump this thread almost 5 years ago.
Just for everyone else looking for it for similar reasons I found both versions on evil Youtube:
The original Blue Tears version as it appears on the album "Dancin' On The Back Streets":

The piano-only version Gregg Fulkerson recorded later:

Sad to realize the man passed away last year.
I can definitely imagine Meat singing this one!

Didnt know he passed away, sad to hear. Never listened to any of Blue Tears or his other stuff, but he had a truely great voice.
