On the American Meat Loaf fan club (web-page) there's this song called "Magical". It's written by John Parr and Meat Loaf. The lyrics are absolutely bloody extroardinary. Is there any way we could hear the song? And what was it intended for? Bad Attitude? Blind Before I Stop? A concert filler? Anybody??? - based on the lyrics alone, and how I've envisioned the tune, I think it's 9.95/10.
Oh! i've read those lyrics.......i melted, they're great...please if any1 knows if we can hear it tell me!!!
I believe its on an album from John Parr. An album in the late eighties. Once upon a long ago i found out myself in a record shop. Never listened to it though.
Well I've managed to find some information for you.
The Album is just called John Parr
released 12/06/01 by One Way Records - IDN Distribution
Track List - Magical
Naughty,Naughty
Love Grammar
Treat me like an animal
She's gonna love you to death
Revenge
Heartbreaker
Somebody stole my thunder
Don't leave your mark on me (I think this might be the same one as on Meat Loafs - Bad Attitude)
Hope this helps
Thats the same song Dottie. Back then i have listened in the record shop. The releasedate seems to be a rereleasedate.
Hi Bart I've listened to some very short clips from this album, I like it and am going to try and track it down :)
John Parrs self titled album is superb - in a mid 80's poppy rocky way... Magical is a great song, as is his version of Don't Leave Your Mark On Me... if I remember correctlky there's another version called Don't Leave Your Mark On Me (part two) or similar on his second album Running The Endless Mile.
Also if I remember correctly Bucks Fizz also did a version of Magical!!!! But I could be wrong on that one!
One day when I get my act together I'll find a space on the web and the technology to create MP3's from Vinyl or Tape (I know - showing my age now... :D )
AndyK
.... in the Alan "Fluff" Freeman pop-tastic zone
Ah! yeah! useful information every1 thabk you
Off to find the cd!
There's an MP3 clip of "Magical" on Amazon for your enjoyment :D

Can someone post these supposedly great lyrics. . .I'd love to read them. . .
Rob if you type 'ask jeeves' and then type 'lyrics for magical by john parr'
the words will appear in front of you and Meat Loaf has mention at the beginning (his part) I presume.

Magical
Up in the shadows where the skeletons hide
We all live in fear of the door and what's behind
A door you dare not open, 'cause what you'll find
A close encounter of the sexual kind
Love in the shadows, like a smoking gun
Batten down, baby, lock all doors
You've got the love that I'm coming for
Your hait's so straight, I can make it curl
There's a little bit of bad in every good little girl
Love in the shadows, like a smoking gun
Is it really what you want,
One more broken heart
One more lost and lonely
Is it really what you need,
Another broken heart
chorus
When it happens, it'll be magical
I'm not knocking, it here's to the magic
When it happens, it'll be magical
I'm not knocking it, here's to the magic
Pull up the blankets, you won't hear a sound
The pounding's like thunder when it shakes the ground
You got a hunger only I can feed
You try to fight it off but you're in too deep
Love in the shadows, love in the shadows, like a smoking gun
Is it really what you want,
One more broken heart
One more lost and lonely
Is it really what you need,
Another broken heart
chorus
Heat, flame, embers- it can be magical
Heat, flame, embers- smoking, smoking
repeats 2x
fire keeps burning up,
fire keeps burning
chorus repeats out

Thanks. . .you're right. Good lyrics.
I knew I heard that somewhere. I own the John Parr tape called "John Parr" . And that is the first song on it. Also on this tape is "Don't Leave Your Mark On Me." Personally Meat's is MUCH better. By far! Personally I don't like this tape, and I just looked in the short liner notes, and it says nothing about Meat co-writing this song. Is he trying to take credit for this song by himself? :x Stupid John Parr, but to answer your question Ryan...
In 1984, John Parr, wrote an album called "John Parr" with very poor cover art. The first track of the album is "Magical" and it was produced by Pete Solley. The last song on this record, is "Don't Leave Your Mark On Me." Personally I feel his version blows.

Oh my God !!! Another version of "Don't Leave Your Mark". I would sell every limb in my body to hear that JUST ONCE !!! Oh my god, oh my god!! You have to tell me all about it. What does it sound like? Same effects at the start? Same lyrics? Oh my God, this is great. Any way of getting the album? Is it still available? And I have always loved those lyrics to MAGICAL. Always wanted to hear the music. Believe it or not, it inspired half of the lyrics from one of my musicals !!
