Anyone know why all the messages suddenly show as read whan i havent read them?

Its really hard work isnt it Rosie lol. I come on after day at shows and all my messages say unread. Or they will show not for a while then suddenly some will change

This function simply compares the message post date with your last login date.
So, if you close your browser or logout (and therefore end a session), all posts are marked as read, regardless if you read them or not.

Oh ... the icons indicate new messages since your last visit, not unread messages.

Click on "Profile", then "Manage Buddy/Ignore/Disallow Lists" and finally "FAQ".
