View Full Version : Slow Internet
Just incase anyone is wondering why the net is so slow at moment, I've just been told by a friend of mine on msn that there is a worm virus taking up a whole load of bandwidth. This worm is called Mydoom Virus/worm. Not sure what it does or what it actually hits, but just to let you all know to watch out and make sure your antivirus stuff is up to date.

Thanks for the update Caz

You're most welcome Vickip. Apparently it's now hitting MSN USA site, and it targets emails, so watch out for your systems auto-emailing and also check your firewalls, anything that you are not sure off and it seems to want out really badly means you could be infected. There is a patch I think, so if anyone thinks that they may have been infected, let me know and I'll find the link from my computer genuis friend for you. (Hope this makes sense)

Im a bit worried actually as I have downloaded a firewall trial and im dreading it running out as it told me yesterday that somone with a certain ip address was trying to gain backdoor access to my computer using something called sub seven (i think) trajan horse
Yep Chrissybabe .... a subseven is a trojan, a two part trojan. Email me off forum and I'll try and help you out here.

Be very careful with this virus / worm. It puts in a 'from' address that looks familiar - possibly similar to someone you email from time to time or someone who contacted you in the past, etc. It doesn't always show up as having an attachment (don't know how they do that). It often has the subject line as Hi, or Test, or even more scary "Mail Delivery Failure" (and many other similar messages).
At work yesterday we had 86 hits from this virus in one hour!!!!! It has subsided a little today, but not a lot! Many years ago we put the first email address in our address books on each computer as 000@000.com (zero's). If we were ever infected inadvertantly, in theory it should stop it emailing everyone in our address books, as it would go to the first, which is non-existant (I think!) and get stuck.

Yep the MyDoom is a sneaky one ..... but hopefully it has now reached it's peak apparently it mass emails in one go but if everyone is careful and has virus defs up to date they should be okay
