It's more likely to be one Sky Movies at around one in the morning. Last summer, it was on almost every weekend.

Yeah, then as soon as I subscribed to Sky Movies they stopped showing it!

This movie is pathetic. A biased opinion, but because of one thing: 1) I was expecting a lot MORE from the part when his father tries to kill him. In the book, it's really scary. I had nightmares after reading it. In this movie, it's like going on a picnic. Truly pathetic. 2) I know this is a little picky, but why didn't they mention anything about Steinman's solo album? Why did it just CUT to "Dead Ringer"? 3) And didn't Leslie meet the Loaf after BAT? 4) Meat never saw his father again, as far as I know. Or did he? Fireball, care to comment? 5) It's too short - and general. 6) I DID like the actor portraying Meat, however, and the scene where he's a kid and gets locked up in the basement is the best moment. When you see the light pour over his face in the darkness, it REALLY looks like the REAL childhood Meat. That scene is really scary. I give the film 4/10.

Oh yes, and notice the rendition of PEEL OUT? It's really epic and bombastic. Now WHY wasn't it like that on the album???

VH1's movies haven't been that great at all, the Def Leppard one was probably the closest to being true but even then it was a little hazy and sometimes embarrasing to say the least!

As for Meat's one I thought it was way too far fetched and from all reports Meat wasn't too thrilled with it at all.

Overall it's not worth seeing.

To attempt to answer Rockfenris's questions....

1)I know this is a little picky, but why didn't they mention anything about
Steinman's solo album? Why did it just CUT to "Dead Ringer"?

'Coz it's a fim about meat and the producers. scriptwriters and director probably thought (incorrectly) it was an insignificant part of the story.

2) And didn't Leslie meet the Loaf after BAT?

Nope, during the recording, wasn't she a studio assistantor somesuch?

3) Meat never saw his father again, as far as I know.

I thought he did, I've not got his (auto)biography handy to check but I seem to remember reading it in there somewhere that they met up again and his dad said he was real proud of him.

I've read the biography 600 times (no seriously I have), but that never occurs. He just tries to kill him and that's it. Meat returns to his hometown after BAT II, but he never says if he sees his father or not. So, who knows?? I did hear once (however) that he stopped singing OBJECTS because he made up with his father (*also the reason why Steinman recycled the tune for Tanz der Vampire*). Who knows?? I know it's personal, but --- Fireball? Can you help us?

I read the autobio once, I am dying to read it again. I picked it up from the library. The autobio cycles around the country. :?

But yes, Meat did meet Lesie after BOOH, because I remember specifically reading something like Meat saying how he asks Leslie if she heard of Bat Out Of Hell, she said no, so he went out to buy a copy. He played it and she thought it was (something, i don't remember)

 Meat met Leslie when he went to record Bad For Good.
She was working as a assistant studio manager for Bearsville.

There is mention of Meat going back to see his father in the book.

I'm not too keen on the film myself. There were too many things that either didn't happen the way they were portrayed, or didn't happen at all.

It would have been much better if the movie makers had put a bit more effort into researching the film (or if they did research it, used it).
It would have been so easy to do the film right with all the correct facts, but.........

Meat was only next door so why didn't they just ask him whether they were doing it right or not!!

if I had my way, i would have done loads better than that!!
