OK, all -

I've seen the power of these forums before and I'm hoping I can make it work for me this time!!!

The sweetheart of a guy I'm seeing is a drummer here in the States and he's been looking for a particular drum to complete a vintage set he has. Soooo . . . .I'm putting out the feelers here. Any leads are greatly appreciated!! I'd love to get this for Chuck for Christmas if possible.

Here's what we're looking for . . .

1960's Ludwig 16"X16" floor tom in Black Galaxy Sparkle finish. If I recall correctly, this would have been available around 1963-1966 or so. There are newer snares available now in this finish, but I'd love to find the tom.

Yup - no luck there either. I can find a zillion of the new snares but no tom. :(

I'm hoping something turns up in someone's attic at this point!!

Thanks for the post RnR!!! It's the darn Black Galaxy finish that we're having such trouble finding! At this point, Chuck is almost tempted to sell the set he has (I did say ALMOST)!!

Although, did get a message on one in North Carolina - asking price: $800.00!! 8O 8O My honey would love to find this elusive floor tom, but not for that much!! Ah well, we'll keep looking.

:nope: Still looking - we can't bring ourselves to spend $800.00 for the one we found when an entire set can be had for about $2000.00!!
