Hi all,
Please excuse my ignorance if this has already been asked or if it is common knowledge, but does anybody know when the Live DVD is being released. I'm dying to get my hands on it.
Thanks
As far as i know there has been no release date given yet!!! :( but it really does seem like nothing is going to happen about it! At one point there woz all this hype about Live recordings of each UK concert, The live CD with the Symphony ochastra and the DVD! But so far there has been no mention of any of these! Wot a waste, Meat is amazing live and he really should release more live stuff! There woz a rumore that the DVD woz ment to be released in August, September........?? but i cant see it, theres been no mention for months! :( I just wish the man himself would come on and tell every1 bout the live stuff and Bat III................???? The story goes on and on...!
Hi all,
Please excuse my ignorance if this has already been asked or if it is common knowledge, but does anybody know when the Live DVD is being released. I'm dying to get my hands on it.
Thanks
Meat posted on his new official site that they are working on it :) As far as the release date goes, the last I heard was October.
Vicki
Does this mean that October is when we should expect this then??? Does any1 no wot happened 2 those live board tapes Meat Mentioned??

It does not appear to me that they are going to follow through with the promise of board tapes that was given to the fans right here on this board.

Meat Loaf's Feb 20 and 22 performances in Melbourne are the basis for the upcoming live CD "Bat Out of Hell Live with the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra" and the DVD "Live with the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra." Both items will be released Sept. 14 via Sanctuary.
The CD comprises a complete performance of Loaf's 1977 breakthrough "Bat Out of Hell," including the title cut, "Two Out of Three Ain't Bad" and "Paradise by the Dashboard Light." The DVD features some of the same cuts, as well as "I'd Do Anything For Love (But I Won't Do That)" and "Out of the Frying Pan (And Into the Fire)."
DVD bonus features include a Q&A with the artist, a commentary track, a photo gallery and a backstage featurette.

Apparently it's only available to Region 1 countries (USA & Canada) which suites me cos I'm multi-zoned :-D

Yeah, I was wondering that as well and I can't remember the last time Meat Loaf ever sung For Crying Out Loud either. Maybe they recorded him singing in the shower or something.

I dont care I'm not from the USA or Canada.... I'm ordering it! :D
But I haven't a code-free player. Do we (in Europe) have to wait 5 years before there will be a Europe-release (with vh1 it was so!)?  :x

I don't think so, Macrapper. I bought a region-free dvd-player when I wanted to see the Storytellers dvd. They are being sold, at least in Holland, at a very reasonable (which in my case means Low!) price.
I do however, hope the dvd will also be released in the European-format aswell.

i can't wait to get my hands on a copy of the new dvd
Thanks for this Pud!
Nice of them release it while I'm in the States! I'll be taking orders for bringing copies back from Vegas with me :D
So does this mean that it's not going to be relesed in the UK???
I mean why cant they just release it here at the same time as the US!
I dont want to have 2 wait years like we all had to do wen Storytellers came out!!
Just because there's been no release date set as yet doens't mean the DVD and CD won't be available in the Uk at around the same time, and remember we in the Uk have fared better for meaty releases over the years than our transatlantic cousins - we got Bad Attitude before them, and the Bad Attitude Live Video and Blind Before I Stop and CHSIB and Meat Loaf Live :D
Thanks for letting us know the good news Pud!
I'm as eager as anyone to get my hands on the CD and DVD but I agree with Andy. There's no need to panic if you're in Europe as I believe too that they will be released here as well, and since they're not being released until the 14th September we have time yet to wait and see before thinking about ordering region 1 copies from America.
If a release doesn't look imminent for Europe you better take a very large suitcase to America with you Andy!!!
Diane
If I have read right, I believe that the Cd and DVD is to be released by Sactuary in America. As Sanctuary are not a label over in Europe, maybe Meat's management are trying to find a label to release them in Europe ( PLEASE NOT MERCURY). This is just a guess, release dates of Media, especially DVD is usually staggered, with our neighbours across the water getting the goodies first, we envy you USA. :D

Erm, Morrissey is with Sanctuary but all of his releases are over here first. Attack is an offshoot of Sanctuary, like Shady records from Aftermath, they are owned by Sanctuary but they get their cool logo at the bottom of the records instead of someone elses.

WoooHoooo! :D Been waiting ages for ANY news about this and now we get a release date - Fantastic (especially as its only next month)!
So are both DVD and CD out at same time (In the states anyway)? Couldn't see DVD mentioned on Amazon - only CD.
Will preorder this soon, will wait to see if any other sites such as Play etc will sell it and if the region 2 DVD/CD is different in any way (other than packaging) I'll get that too!

Take a look at Barnes & Noble's site, which Sherrie 87 previously posted, the DVD is cheaper there than on Amazon: http://video.barnesandnoble.com/search/product.asp?userid=mHu1YrlYgL&ean=60768836396&FRM=0

The CD is listed on the UK amazon site, as an import. So between www.amazon.com and www.amazon.co.uk you can preorder both the DVD and the CD
I nearly gave up looking for it on the U.K site so here the link is for people looking for it.

I'm tempted to order it as a import but think i'll wait a bit 2 see if it becomes available on the likes of play.com!

I agree with Rob and all the UK and European fans should wait until it's released there instead of getting themselves all excited about owning a disc that they can't watch. Because if you don't have a multi-zoned DVD player then it's money down the toilet.
Pud
Multiregion DVD players you can get brand new for £30 now in UK, Asda and Tesco sell them. www.richersounds.co.uk are a good site for Multi-Region DVD players, if you can't wait for the UK release, this is the only option. :D
Well not quite the only option JayD, you could move.... but that's probably even more drastic really :D
Most PCs with dvd players are multi region as well - although the smaller screen isn't a bonus really...
Still, wherever it's being released, news of a Meat release is always welcome!
Hey All
I just hope they release them here in OZ. I was lucky to see Meat in Sydney with the MSO but what to see the DVD as it should be great.
mladay
I've ordered my copy from Amazon but you can buy a DVD 'converter' which you just put into the player and it configures your DVD so that you can play USA/Canada stuff as well as UK - I got mine for about £10 from Argos folks and have since been able to play Blacktop, Twisted etc. from any of my DVD players!!

From what I gather, the CD will only contain the live tracks that relate to the "Bat 1" album - hence the title. The DVD will hopefully be complete if it's gonna contain Anything For Love etc.

After looking at various sites that are selling the DVD they still say 14th Sept & that its a 2 Disc edition. The DVD doesn't look like it has enough content to cover two discs. So hopefully on the 14th the CD & DVD are coming out together in a boxset & then they will be released seperately on 28th Sept & 5th Oct.

Just found some additional info on the UK release of the DVD on www.play.com. The set list is as Martin has already said above and on 2 discs as Mike has already told us. Play.com have put the release date back to 18th October. Running time is approximately 2 hours 48 mins (!!!). Additional material includes:
Meat Loaf track by track commentary
Photo gallery
Behind the scenes footage
The cover art is the same as the "Very Best Of" CD with a picture of an orchestra airbrushed over the top.
The liner notes say:
Filmed over two nights in February, in Melbourne, Australia where Meat Loaf performed with the internationally reowned Melbourne Symphony Orchestra. As Meat Loaf comments: 'Ever since 'Bat Out Of Hell' was recorded, I always envisioned performing these songs with an orchestra. It may have taken 25 years to finally realise the opportunity but I think it was well worth the wait.'
I'm sure it will be more than worth the wait!!!

Hi friends and neighbours,
I'm back after a long sojourn.
A question more aimed at my fellow Aussies.
Has anyone seen any details of the release date of the live CD and/or DVD.
I haven't been able to find anything.
I was in the second row in melbourne and am hoping that my wife's beauty will take precidence over my ugly mug and we score a 'supporting role' in the show.
I am also dying to re-live the show.
Can anyone help??
Thanks

The latest Classic Rock magazine has a full page colour advertisement for the CD and DVD confirming the UK release date as 18 October.
Mike
I was there and saw the associate inform us the DVD was on the shelf just hours before we were there. It has been selling and selling well in America.
Dave
Just out of curiousity ... selling well where in America ? If it's true, I'm certainly glad to hear that :) But I haven't seen it in any stores around here, and every where I look on-line it says that it's not supposed to be released until October 5th.
Vicki
Did you not read the full posting that you quoted a portion of? Andyk mentioned the city was Vegas and the specific store was the Virgin Megastore at the Forum Shops at Cesars. This is a casino and hotel on "The Strip" in what is commonly called Vegas, but the strip is not actualyl in the city limits of Las Vegas. I hope that will fully explain the situation to you.

I was also there and they most definitely said they had, had it in and it had sold out. They was waiting on more coming in.

So that we do not confuse anyone...what city and country were you in when you were at this store? I want to make sure this is all crystal clear to everyone reading this tread, as some people are already confused.

Fine. I just got the impression from your post that it was available elsewhere in the United States ..... as I said before, I'm truly glad to hear that it has been selling so well.
Vicki
I have a mate in the US who is an editor for a music magazine over there.
He posted the following message to a group I am on:
"Well. I got the new MEAT LOAF live with the Melbourne Symphony and it is
just plain AWESOME.... The most recent Meat band kicks ass, and he did "For
Crying Out Loud" live for the first time since the 70s! It was great.... And
the hot chick dancers was a nice addition... Hey Stu were you at that show?
The bonus disc is a little lame and goofy, but the concert ruled! "
And Meat's vocals? great or does he sounds like the exorcist?
I ordered mine ages ago and the estimated despatch from Amazon is 7-8th October - can't wait! Go on, someone review it for us PLEEEZE.. :D

Audio samples can be downloaded from www.bn.com
He sounds pretty good, especially in 2 out of 3 and FCOL!

I got the CD yesterday :) Meat sounds absolutely brilliant ..... and the orchestra compliments his voice perfectly.
All I can say is BRAVO Meat ... congratulations to you and the entire NLE :))

I bought a copy yesterday afternoon. Even though I already had the CD coming from Amazon, I just had to have it RIGHT AWAY.
Maybe it was because of what happened at our flag store Tuesday night (we were flooded again) or maybe it's just because I'm impatient .. who knows ... but I couldn't wait any longer and drove over to the local Best Buy. They only had 3 copies on the shelf with the other Meat CD's, and I grabbed one right away. I couldn't wait until I got home, so I popped it in my CD player in the car and turned it to FCOL .....
I was emotionally overwhelmed, and still can't describe what I was feeling right then .... Meat's voice is nothing short of amazing. The sound quality is brilliant .... with the background vocals and orchestra coming in clear and strong (and yet not overwhelming) at just the right time .... absolutely amazing.
When I listened to the rest of the CD, using the proper stereo system in my house, I just sat there with my eyes closed visualizing how incredible the DVD will be ....
Brilliant, astounding, spectacular ..... I just don't have enough words to describe it. A true masterpiece and triumph for Meat and everyone involved. All I can say is
THANK YOU MEAT and bravo bravo !!!

Cool. Menus look pretty good & its nice to have all the special features properly confirmed (definately a audio commentry by Meat :D ) Bit of a shame that the websites selling the region 1 version are taking their time to get stock & dispatch them. They usually get films early so why not this!!??

I just heard it as well for the first time this evening.... omigod!
You know, we sometimes seem to get so little as fans these days to fill us with the complete joy that this music can bring to a thirsty soul....
How grateful am I that this was recorded for us all? Thank you Meat for the incredible lift you just brought into my days... the recording of FCOL alone was enough to fill my heart and give my present moments the richness this music and dearly loved notes can bring. My god, where was all this when I took my seat at the Universal Amphitheater a bit over a year ago? ;) And do I care? Nope, I have this latest gift.... one to cherish indeed.
Way to rock!!!! Oh yay and bring on the DVD!!!!!
Long live the marriage of Jim and Meat!
Di
.... rocking in California tonight with a HUGE smile on her face! :)

I've just been told that my copy has been shipped from Amazon today! Yippee! However, when I've checked with HMV and Virgin, they say they DON'T have a release date...has anyone else tried?
I received confirmation of shipment from Amazon - USA too.

Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but I think they're both supposed to be released on October 18th :)
