anyone see on sky news on Friday morning that meat turned down the lead in phantom of the opera (film version) and will be a semi regular judge on american idol?

My God, why he turned down Phantom I'll never know. That's a major lead, which he could have done very well. . .oh well.

Seem like it'd be an ideal role for him but maybehe didn't want to get typecast.

He can act as well as sing, but maybe he wants to concentrate on acting first

I remember reading that about Phantom too someplace. It's a shame though .. he would have been perfect for the part :)

And I don't know about him being a semi-regular judge on American Idol. I read in the National Enquirer (here in the US) today that he was being considered, along with David Lee Roth, as a guest judge. It'll be interesting to see if he's on the show or not :))
