The call centre video bonnietyler just posted got me thinking: wouldn't Daleks make great burglar deterents?! Can you just imagine it! You're away on holiday and two guys break in to your house one night, they're being really quiet when all of a sudden they see this eerie blue glow....an eye socket comes around the corner, followed by the pepperpot shaped gleaming body. It swivels smoothly and silently around as the burglars look on in disbelief and awe...until they figure it's a joke and laugh and keep going. Then the white lights on the Dalek's conical head flash as it speaks:
"You. Are. Not. Of. The. House. Of [insert family name here]. EX-TER-MIN-ATE!!!!"
Then the ray shoots out of it's egg-whisk like nozzle faster than the speed of light!
PEOW! PEOW!
And the two fall down dead, and their bodies evaporate (Dalek technology has evolved to get rid of the bodies as well now, you wouldn't want to come home from a lovely holiday in the Canaries to find two decomposing bodies in your hallway or bedroom now, would you?), never to be seen again!!!!!!

My God, I could write the series!

Is it a necessity of that thing called "friendship" to listen to the same person complain about the same stuff, day in and day out, while they refuse to resolve their issues, just keep on complaining and complaining, and milking them for attention?

Is it ok to give up after x number of years, when it gets to the point you dread speaking the "friend" because you know there's just going to be the same old flood of depressing complaints? When you know that the refusal to resolve is because they feel like their issues are the only thing making them special?

When is it ok to just say "fcuk it, I need to worry about my life, not be constantly dragged down?" :-(

its charity, 99% of the people doing it for children in need do stupid things, ie shave their heads, eyebrows, have a bath in beans its completely random stuff all in the name of charity and the people that sponsor me get to see us getting our legs waxed and can donate money to charity. they donate whatever that want so i cant give you a going rate. i think this may be my longest post ever.

Thought I'd share this... it was found by my friend Steve in a book of prayers for mothers, left behind by his mother after she died last month. I think ( and I'm sure he does too) that it's all the things she wanted to say to her children and couldn't...

Loving God.
I cannot bear the thought
of my children being damaged
by my mishandling
or lack of parenting skill.

I know that, realistically
I'm bound to mess things up
from time to time.
I know that children
are remarkably resilient.

But what if their lives where to become crippled or distorted
because of my mistakes?

I ask your indwelling, loving god,
so that any potential damage
becomes instead
an opportunity for growth.

And I ask you to calm my fears
and remind me, regularly,
that love covers a multitude of sins.

Amen
