 Hi all.
I've spent half the day up a ladder putting the xmas deckies up.
Has anybody else got theirs up yet or am I the first (and the saddest  )?
Also here's a thought, how cool would it be for Meat to do a Christmas album?
I think he could do a really good version of Silent Night. What do you think?

Hi,

We have put our decorations up at work in order to plug all the advent calendars and selection boxes that I ordered (or to promote the festive spirit if you are a customer!!!!!)

In a related note we have just got a new stereo in the shop and on Monday will be having a Meatloaf day. Just about every album released in the UK played back to back from 6am to 7pm!!!!! And yes, I will be singing along!

 Hi Chris.
Where is it that you work?
Can I come with you on Monday?
Are you sure that 6 in the morning to 7 at night is enough time to play all Meat's songs?

Christmas? Already?? That's early i think. I've seen the first christmas trees already. Blagh!! At least they could have wait till next week orso......

I still have got the feeling that i'm living earlier this year, somewhere in March. It's all going that fast. I hate it!!

First we have here in Holland, on the 5th of december, "Sinterklaas" Don't know the English word for it, but it's kind of a Santa Claus, also with presents and for younger childeren. Very nice.

The nice thing about Christmas is the music. Wham (last chrismas) that song by Mariah Carrey, and all that old songs. So very nice.
And the best will be, when it's going to snow!!! Yeah, that would be cool.

 Hi Tim.
Does that mean that you get two sets of presents?Cool 8) .

Tim
01 Dec 2002, 14:50
Indeed, that means, if you want, 2 times presents. But only for the rich! I can't even celebrate christmas........aaaah!!

Can you imagine..... if it's also your birthday in that month (not that mine is....) than you will have a great month.

Hi all,

Just have to tell you how very very sad i am. Deciced to splah out, as it's the twins' first christmas, and although they are a little too young for pressies yet, they love watching the fairy lights, especially the ones that twinkle....soooo.....there isn't an inch of my front room that hasn't got fairy lights on it. Last count there was 2700 lights!!!!!!!! Hubbs says he has to wear sunglasses just to sit in there, and he's having a dicky fit over the leccy bill.....little does he know that i've actually tapped into the national grid itself!!!!!! :D  :D  :D  :D

33 more days to go :D

My Christmas lights are up outside. We finally got a day where it was only -10 celcius so we put them up. I won't put the inside ones up until the first weekend in December. The tree takes forever because I put about 1000 lights on it and my boys (the cats) always want to help

I think that a Christmas album is a really good idea Mouse. Silent Night would be totally awesome

Think of how I feel then Tim  my birthdays on Christmas day, and i still dont get two sets of presents. I always just get one and told it will 'do me for both' I don't have my decorations up yet either. I did have a real tree i brought in every year but a sad even has passed and he's now dead  So I'll have to get another one. What a good idea by the way Chris. If i went into a shop and they were having a Meat day I would have to shop from open til close

I don't even get Turkey Day this year. I love Christmas when I am not traveling, a few more shows over here and it's back to the states. Hope Meat gets better soon. Take care everyone and happy holidays from me to all of you!! :D

The whole day after Thanksgiving (this Friday), my husband and son will be on the roof of my home putting up hundreds of lights to decorate for Christmas. It's a tradition, every year my whole neighborhood decorates on that day. It will be lit up like an airport landing strip!

I would be thrilled to hear a Meat Christmas album- that would be very, very cool.

I wouldn't be the least bit suprised

When i did some shopping in august, one of the main department stores had Christmas decorations /trees etc on sale then!!!!
The local supermarkets have been full of Christmas stuff since at least beginning of october...i hate it....makes it all meaning less...spoils it for children
When i was a child...Christmas decorations never went up until late Christmas eve, that way when you woke Christmas day, all was transformed, magical. Christmas decorations always came down New Years Day....much better i think.

I stood on the verge of posting this before, but I'll do it now:

Christmas is one of the nastiest tricks Satan has pulled on us humans. I truely and utterly detest every little bit of it, from decorations to the endless repeats of crappy music. If I have to hear that "Do They Know All I Want For Last Christmas Time Is You (Merry Christmas Everybody / War Is Over)" song again, I'm gonna throw a major fit.

Next year, let's skip it.

well everyone to their own i suppose!
i love christmas, the decs go up two weeks before, this year i dont know.
But i love the kids faces, looking at all the lights and things, especially
when they are young.
i didn't use to like it that much before, but with kids, well i think it
changes it for you.

I have noticed that the majority of people who say they hate christmas are still more than willing to open their presents on christmas morning and use the excuse to overindulge on beer or food (or both) though!

What the heck is Christmas supposed to be about?

Waaaaaaaaaay back, the Germans and Romans used to have a celebration of the winter solstice (the shortest day - at the end of December) including rites, food and beer.
Santa Clause - and the presents - are derived from the legend of the Turkish bishop St. Nicholas, who is known for his good deeds towards children. His birthday (December 6) was celebrated until the 16th century thoughout Europe. Then there was a bit of a religious rebellion :) and he disappeared from the most part of Europe. Only in The Netherlands (and parts of Belgium) children get presents on "Sinterklaas-avond" ('twas the night before St. Nicholas' birthday). So I wasn't realy suprised to find that that poem " 'twas the night before christmas" is actually called A VISIT FROM ST. NICHOLAS (http://www.cvc.org/christmas/nast.htm), or that Dutch settlers indeed brought the legend of ol' saint Nick to the US of A. Where some cartoonist thought he should be fat and dressed in fur, instead of tall and skinny and dressed in robes.
Christ was born in the spring, but the almight church must have thought something like "if you can't beat them, join them" and in the 4th century, the pope added a christian touch to the pagan midwinter-fest.

So you throw pagan feasts, folklore, christianty and matterialism together, and declare it a holiday.

You tell me why I should not be allowed to drink that off :)

Well, I actually like christmas!!!

I enjoy the family getting together
the goodwill
the snowball fights where all the street's kids and dads get thrown out of the house for a few hours while mum cooks tea!
The xmas repeats on the telly
Grandma making everyone stand quietly for the Queens Speech
Eating too much turkey and everyone falling asleep afterwards
The shouts of my 25 year old sister at 3am because she wants to open the prezzies.

Who but the most jaded can possibly avoid xmas!!

BTW, I am playing santa claus at the local school this year. Got my outfit and we are making cardboard reindeer on wheels to hook on the front of my smart!!

Also, in my shop, we will not be playing Wham at all this year!! i have bought the Dolly Parton Country Christmas album!

I've sent out the invites to my christmas drinks party and checked what decorations I need to replace this year.

I've replied to all the xmas do invites i have received and have written them all on the calendar.

And just in case you think I am being a bit over-eager this year, I only have 6 days off before christmas and one of them is being spent at an interview!

I have a major problem this christmas.

I am working christmas eve until 8pm and then heading to BigSisters for christmas day. Only problem is she lives in Reading at the other end of the country so i won;t get there until well after midnight.

The problem is, will Santa know??? I don;t want him to leave my presents at the wrong place!!:shock::shock:

Got em, the fibre optic outdoor tree was very dear  but it'll probably last as long as I do:lol: No chance of putting up outside yet!!!!!!

Have to try a little persuasion...........
