Going to add Paradise and Anything For Love to my list of unloved, actually. They annoy me. Not so much live, but the studio recordings really irritate me. The MSO recordings are actually the only versions of these two that I actually like.
I agree with this totally, I think Paradise has been over-performed now and needs a break, Its gotten boring. AFL i adore, particularly Patti and Meat's bit at the end, always gives me goosebumps.
My point tho, Patti's vocals on CHSIB, particularly on Paradise and AFL are not as good as she was on the Casa tour, particularly AFL. She sounded strained on MSO. CDC was awesome though.

The best versions I have ever heard of " Nowhere Fast" is off of a CD that also has " Tonight is what if means to be young" ( Jim steinman)is off a Cd that is a compilation of songs. I have it somewhere, can't recall the name of it. Streets of Fire. That is it.
That version of Nowhere Fast is one of my favorite songs ever <3 Up there with Rebel Without A Clue, We're Still The Children and Objects

And brings every arena's audience to its feet, every time, with a huge cheer! Meat knows what the vast majority of his followers want, and changes the theatre in it every tour. In over 30 years I've never seen an audience fail to respond to it with wild enthusiasm, and imo he knows what he's doing ;)
Patti has never sounded anything but great on any tour imo.

Good as Paradise is, and as much as Meat tinkers with it to stop it becoming too stale, it's a looong song and dropping it would allow time for some other classics that never or nearly never see the light of day.
True .. but imo it's one that the vast majority of Meat's audience, (those hundreds of thousands who don't post on Meat websites but go to the shows when he tours) are waiting for, and rise to their feet for with a resounding cheer wherever they are in the arena. That and Bat. Most probably attend just one show on any tour, and these are the two songs they want to hear and see played out above all others in my view, and also in my view, Meat knows this .. he hasn't been around for so long, so sucessfully without learning what his main audience wants. He provides new theatre in Paradise every tour to keep it fresh and thoroughly entertaining, and it's the song that showcases so well that special and intuitive stage partnership he has with the amazing Patti Russo .. something else people love to see.

I do agree that Paradise should be played at every show to avoid many disappointed faces, but I'd rather it was kept to about 11 minutes or so instead of stretched out to 15+.
I think the way Meat does it now, it is less than 15 mins, but wouldn't swear on it, cos i didn't get a stopwatch out when i saw it performed in the US;) LOL...
Paradise may get lots of people up and cheering at Meats shows, but at Mohegan Sun, i think most of the audience were actually dead ! I have never been to a show where so many people acted like corpses !
It was completely different at PNC NJ, the contrast was immense ! The atmosphere there was electric! whereas Mohegan Sun, the audience needed electricity to jump start their fukking hearts ! Still i had a great time, i am in a little world of my own most of the time anyway !

Yep PNC's version was ecstatic.
But I bolded something important. Even without a stopwatch, you are wayyy off :))
Paradise on this tour is about 19 minutes
19:10 at Mohegan Sun and definitely longer at PNC....

Yea, Paradise doesnt seem nowhere near 20 minutes. It seems like a full hour show placed into the middle of a concert

BOOH gets me on my feet every time. I love it. That for me is his main song, along with Paradise. I love it too, of course now he has been using audience members or others to do the parts of the 2 kids making out.
BTW, where is this masters album someone spoke of? I'd love to own that.
Re: Martha for the longest time I avoided this song. Then one day I listened to it and actually had a friend named Martha and let her hear it. She was so impressed b/c she'd never heard a song with the girls name being Martha.

as for Martha, didnt he say he used to perform that with meatloaf soul or something in 1968/69?
Guess a pre bat version of the song may change your view on it.
i for one aint a fan but its not his worst
I seem to remember hearing something similar said in the past yeah.
Not sure if a pre Bat version would change my opinion or not, you can't polish a turd.

I'm sure that I read somewhere that Martha was a late substitute for All Coming Back in 1995. I heard Jimmy suggested it ater refusing Meat's request to do ACB. I suppose they are similarly-themed songs, and fit the 'storyline' of the WTTN album.
My least favourite Meat song is a difficult one. Probably Cry Over Me, or If God Could Talk, or something from MATLAF.

Martha was first released by Tom Waits in 1973. How could Meat Loaf have performed it in the late 1960s?

I like Runnin' for the Red Light. It's a fun song. 45 Seconds and Fiesta whatever are the worst on WTTN. I've grown to like Let's Be in Love too. Out of all Meat's songs, it's definitely not the 2nd worst.
45 Seconds and Fiesta whatever are the worst on WTTN.
I wouldn't even label them as "songs". They always appeared like random fillers to me which didn't seem to suit the album. Though I have to say I liked the live performance of 45 Seconds of Ecstasy. But I think that was rather due to the performance  than to the quality of the song.

I did this a while back, but my tastes have changed and there's a new album. So...:D
1. Mad Mad World - Me and rap just don't mix, sadly.
2. Another Day - One of the most boring songs Meat has ever recorded. The sentimentality is there, but it's presented so blandly that it just drags on and on and on and on and on.
3. 40 Days - Not really anything I can put my finger on. I just don't like it :O
4. Special Girl - See Another Day
5. Getting Away With Murder - See 40 Days
6. All of Midnight @ the Lost & Found with the exception of Razor's Edge, If You Really Want To and the title track - The songs are bad and the production is even worse.
7. Dead Ringer for Love (the studio version. It's awesome live) - See 40 Days
Just realized that these are the only songs I legitimately dislike, I can't make it to 10 :O However, runner ups would have been:
8. If I Can't Have You - It's too pop-y for my tastes and I don't like Kara's voice.
9. Blue Sky - Wouldn't have an issue with this one if the vocals weren't all over the place.
10. Do It - This one just gets a resounding WTF from me every time I listen to it.

I prefer using the words "least favorite songs" ;) and can honestly say that I really love the way Meat sings the songs from Bat I and Bat II now better than the original records. I think You Took The Words is a great song but it's just so overplayed - don't think I've ever seen a show without it done live - so if anything I would skip it because I've heard it enough.

I don't have a "worst" recording per se
I do however have some songs in my mind that the production/arrangement of were not as good as Meat's voice deserved and therefore make me annoyed to some extent when I hear them.
Strangely enough the greatest collection of these can be found on TMIL especially ITLOTP & BFG, Sorry but Child massacred what were amazing Steinman songs whereas Alive I think is a standout song from any album.

If you're talking about "he" as being Jim Steinman...Then Ok. Steinman wrote that song and it is def my least favorite. Pigs scare me.
Break It was my least favorite until I saw Meat perform it live Sept. 1, 2011 in Joliet, IL.
It's hard to determine "wost" song and I personally think it should be stricken from this thread. As Vicki said "least favorite." An artist will can not please everyone, including himself. With that being said, there are a few songs I would consider my least favorite, such as some of the early stuff. Alghough, Meat's vocals were "on", the song wasn't the best of some compositions.
For the purpose of this thread, I'm going with my two least favs are the scarey pig song and Break it...Still.

Keep in mind that it's meant for a stage musical. It works better than the other version.
Btw, JS arranged this version as well. I can't find a clip of the demo, but it's basically the exact same thing with guide vocals and no Steve Vai solo.
midnight at the lost and found (single) is not one of my favorites but it is still not horrible.

Here you go then. Heaven Can Wait is way too overproduced on BAT. Should have been just Meat and a piano. As he has done that way live and it is fantastic.

Just cause it may tickle a few feathers don't mean you have to take it out of the bird cage.
 Come again? :wtf:
I get the feeling (correct me if i'm wrong) you think I moved your post so people couldn't discuss the point you were making. I moved the post to it's own thread so people could discuss it.
The thumbs up in the post may have given you a clue to my intentions

People would have discussed it on this forum on this thread which I intended to say it. If I wanted to make a new thread for that topic I would have done so, but I think it fits for this one just fine. Now are you going to say it is cause people may get a little too "argumentative" from my point or are you going to say it was off-topic?

 I'm going to say that it was a "bigger" topic that deserved room for it's own discussion.
By creating a new thread for it i'm indicating that what you are saying is an interesting topic for debate in it's own right, not that what you are saying is wrong.
Now this is going off topic.
If you have any more concerns about the thread being split you can send them to me via PM.

I haven't posted in this thread for a looooonng time because i think it should be deleted and feel differently about it now. Why on earth would we want to openly talk about the songs we like least of Meats? What a wholly negative discussion to have, and also one that will upset Meat a lot if he ever sees it. Please can you lock and delete this thread.

That's ridiculous because he himself has said that he hates some songs that he recorded.

For me it's definitely If God Could Talk. Almost all the songs of Meat are hearable but that song made me shiver in the wrong way.

I know i'm in the minority here, but I really like that song.
I'd say it was one of my favourites on Bat III.

That's Numberwang! (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qjOZtWZ56lc&hl=en-GB&gl=GB)
there have been songs by meat over the years that are not as good as others on the album. For me Bat III was a bit hit and miss, unfortunatly for all the great songs that Meat has produced over the years there are some that get on my nerves
'Getting away with murder'
'Burning Down'
Standing on the out side'
'Massculane'
'Special Girl'
'Do It!'
'Nocternal plessure'
'Don't leave your mark on me'
'You're Right, I was wrong'
'You never can be too sure about the girl'
'Why isn't that enough?'
'Monstro'
These soings are leamon's and I want my money back, sorry Meat.

I really hate to say this but I really dislike the following albums and can clearly say I couldn't find one track on the any of the following albums that I like but no matter what I still and always like meat loaf and own copies of these albums.
Stoney & Meat Loaf
I love you so I told you a lie
Hammerdown
Bad Attitude
Hang cool teddy bear
Hell in a Hand basket
Sorry Meat I really prefer the albums that you have done working with Jim Steinman but no matter who you work with Meat I will always buy your albums whether I like them or not.

I think it has been shown that you are not in the minority. If God Could Talk is one of my all-time faves. When I saw him before it on Dancing With The Stars, it brought me to tears and renewed my obsession with him.
Can't really pick one song that I dislike. A couple of my least favorite are Blind Before I Stop & Special Girl. Blind is my least listened to Meat Loaf album.
None! In my opinion they are all great :)
I still think that "Did You Ever Love Somebody" is the embarrassment in an otherwise stellar career!
