For all the Meat Loaf and Jim Steinman fans out there... Next year there is going to be a convention held for Meat Loaf fans, both die hard Loafers and newer fans. It is timed to coincide with Meat's birthday and the release of Bat Out Of Hell III, the reunion of Loaf and Steinman, which brought us Bat I and Bat II. It will be in Adelaide, Australia (at this stage, if we get more people from another state, it can and may be transferred to another city). Are there any Meat or Jim fans out there that would like to attend? It will be a charity fundraiser at this stage; the organising committee is still waiting on Meat Loaf to tell us which charity to donate the proceeds to. The cost for tickets will be very low (and the more people who attend, the lower it will be) and is only being charged to recoup expenses. Our website is at http://www.meatloafaust06.com Please, go and look, even those of you who have never heard of Meat Loaf, and tell us what you think on our forum. We will be showing movies, concerts, having live performances, trivia, fair day, a birthday party and Meatloafaoke. It's going to be awesome (and that's a term I use rarely). Thanks for reading; we (the committee) would love to see you all there. And we value your feedback! Thank you"

Perhaps we could arrange one for the same time in the UK, so at least we'll be "together" in spirit, if not in person?

Wish it wasn't so far away, there's no way I can get there. One in the UK would be fantastic.

Yes, it is a long way for you European folks!
However, for anyone planning a holiday, or to travel the world at any time soon, you have plenty of warning for where to be and when!
I really like the idea of a simultaneous one in the UK. There are three of us organising the Aussie one (as you would notice on the site! :) ), so if a couple of you want to form a committee, our committee can help out with if you want.
Thanks for reading!
(Don't tell anyone, but we have some plans, the UK may not be out of the question sometime after the first one, which is a trial run, really).

We, the Australians, would also like to challenge you (via audio/visual link) to contest the Inaugural Transnational Meatloafaoke Cup, to be held during MV 2006.

How does everyone feel about aiming for a Guinness World record: most people worldwide singing BOOH simultaneously?

I also think it's a great idea, but I personally think the fanclub would be better off organising it. Most of it anyway. With all our input.

I know they've been trying to put something like this together for a very long time and have thrown it out to us all on many occasions.

They've done a lot for us over the yrs and I for one would like to see their efforts in the past come to something on this :D

Oh god I'm having serious de javu of Cleveland a few weeks ago lol.

As wonderful as it would be to see most of you again, I don't think many are gonna travel length and breadth of the country just to meet up with everyone in a pub :D without those that may come from other countries.

I know Diane and Mike had loads of ideas on this before, maybe now people are taking an interest they can put them into action.

Any ideas Diane?

I'm in serious conflab with the management team on the idea of something special to tie in with the release, (and hopefully tour!), of Bat III. R. is away at the moment and we do need to speak to him too.

We will need a lot of support from you if a convention is to happen as last time a questionnaire was circulated asking how many of you would be prepared to travel for a get-together the response was very disappointing.

We'll keep you posted!

Don't forget the fans in Ireland, who would do anything to see Meat Loaf Live. Australia is too far away for most of them to travel. Lisa :-)

Ok, let's all stop disagreeing about where to have the convention...
Is it possible maybe (we have one year as of today) for someone to organise an Irish Meatvention, a Scottish Meatvention, and one in Holland also??
If you can all form committees to do so, drop us an email at the official addy, and welcome to the Meatloafaoke Cup contest!

Most conventions have two tribute acts so i recommend Pure Meat Loaf - Andy P. aswell!

Is anyone gonna book a venue soon?? I say it should be middle of everywhere.....or London!

Working frantically on that!
For those of you who have not had the time to nip over to our site recently, or jumped on the mailing list, here's a quick update...
Germany are out, they have their gathering on the first weekend in September and can't move that to the last weekend.
Holland are in, and will be having a one day Meatvention festival (at this stage), held on the Saturday to join in the Guinness World Record.
The UK will be having one, just bickering over who gets to organise it for now.
The USA are being slow to answer emails, looks promising but wouldn't put money on it just yet.
And the Japanese, Russian, Swedes and Portuguese refuse to respond to any invitations.
For those of you in the UK who are worried about travel, a) some of the Aussies will be driving 42 hours or more to get to ours, so really.... lol, and b) you have a years notice, start saving 50p a week, and finding friends in the area you can stay with.
Watch this space.

Well, here's some hot gossip!
We are officially having a Guinness World Record attempt!
Now, there has been no record set in this category before, the closest thing is a world record for most people in a singalong in one venue (88,600 for anyone who wants to know!).

So this will be an entirely new record, the precise details for which and the precise things we need to do to authenticate it are in negotiations with Guinness as we speak!
Start practicing your BOOH's, people!

Anyone who's seen the site probably saw my name on the list of acts. I'm getting permission to do a few encores of never-before-heard Jim Steinman songs. The rest of the set will be very interesting. I can't wait

and neither can heaven
