found this on a site..

BloodRayne (R) has the distinction of being directed by Uwe Boll, whose previous films Alone in the Dark and House of the Dead are rated by Internet Movie Database users among the worst 100 films of all time. BloodRayne is already No. 60 on that shamed list and it hasn't even opened. A horror movie maker is doing something drastically wrong when even gore hounds don't like his work.

the whole story (http://www.sptimes.com/2006/01/05/Weekend/Also_opening__Gore_an.shtml)

wonder who does those ratings..

I have to say the only part of that whole article that makes my blood boil is the fact they call Meat Loaf a Slummer. Awww that hurts....... only when i feel....sorry

No no, I don't think they called Meat a slummer, but the film. Uwe Boll, makes very bad horror films, how he convinced Meat along with the other actors, to be in this is beyond me. I have not seen this film yet so I can't really comment on the film itself, but from most of the revies i have read, not just from IMDB , but from the likes of UHM(UPCOMING HORROR MOVIES) and Monsters at play, to name a few, this film is seriously bad. Anyone just watch something like Alone in the dark or House Of The dead, and you will see what you are in for. :(

You maybe right but the article does say 'BloodRayne co-stars Michael Madsen, Billy Zane, Meat Loaf and Udo Kier, a grand slam of slummers.' So the reviewer is basically saying all of the mentioned co-stars make up for a grand slam of slummers. Thats how i interpreted it anyway.

Gets 7% on RottenTomatoes.com :)

Examples of reviews:

"Whatever else you may think of Boll's directorial 'skills,' you can't fault him for inconsistency -- his movies are always atrocious, and Bloodrayne is no exception."

"Though indisputably the best of Uwe Boll's first three video-game-into-film adaptations, this gory, ludicrous horror-action picture isn't good by any standard."

And finally, my favourite:

"Actors have bills to pay too, and who knows, maybe Transylvania is nice in the summer."

So, not the BEST reviews you could have... we'll just have to see how the box office goes. Interesting to see that all the criticism I have seen is with the director...

Yeah this movie is getting some bad reviews alright. From the trailer I'd say it is a mix between: "Underworld - Lord of the Rings "Two Towers" - "Interview with the Vampire". Not something I would be particularly interested in as I don't really go for the whole darky fantasy stuff usually.

But there are many bad horror/fantasy movies out there that are still watchable I suppose, just hope this is one of them for most people. The fact that this director can still make movies based on computer games is beyond me as I would have thought a third time would be his last chance really. They have announced a movie based on "Far Cry" !

(Confession - sat up and watched Jason X last night, terrible but watchable noneless).

I have to say, i had high hopes for this film but after reading all these reviews for it i'm very disappointed. I'm gonna watch it for myself at some point though and see for myself. Doubt i'll pay to watch it at the cinema though.

From the trailer it looks good but obviously if it's getting these reviews it isn't up to much. Just for those of us in the UK what's a 'slummer'?
