View Full Version : Kasim to tour with The Cars
Kasim has wrote to his mailing list. It's now official he will be touring with The Cars with Todd as Lead singer. Touring all of 2006! Hopefully this means we get time to save for Bat 3 lol.
For those of you not on Kasim list, you can join it here:

He also says he's in LA recording for Bat 3 (OR Battery for those Irish amongst us :D )
Kasim alos says he's had time to write some new songs :D
But the best way to keep updated is to joni Kasims mailing list, if you already haven't that is :D

I dunno who The Cars are! *shrugs*

An American band big in the 80's. (giving away my age  )
Cheers..

Probably before your time Heli! They broke up in 1987.
The Cars had some hits in the late '70s - mid '80s most notably My Best Friend's Girl, Just What I Needed and You Might Think. Well that's the ones I remember anyway! Their biggest hit in the UK was Drive in 1984 which was adopted as the theme song for Live Aid and was played whilst showing some very harrowing video footage of the famine victims in Ethiopia.
I used to really like The Cars and it's wonderful news that they will be back out on the road with Kasim and Todd as lead singer. Hopefully the UK will be on their tour schedule!

I would pay money to go see Kasim and Todd perform The Cars stuff rather than Utopia, Todd's solo stuff or Kasim's solo stuff any day.
You Might Think is one of my favourite songs of all time and Lust For Kids, My Best Friend's Girl, Since You're Gone, It's All I Can Do are also great songs. I make no apology for not including Drive in my little list, but that song does absolutely nothing for me at all.

Damn, there was Pud even considering paying for something and it's not definate yet lol. Just got this from kasims mailing list...
It seems I made a premature announcement in my recent newsletter...
The fact is, there are currently no definite plans for The New Cars to be touring next year.
We did record some new material, but beyond that, things are still being worked out.
I apologize for any confusion my misstatement caused.
Kasim
are they coming to Holland too:D
Oh god, i'm sooooo stupid!! I HAVE heard of The Cars! I have Drive on my MP3 player :lmao: I never thought of that! I'm so stupid! LOL!!
Thanks guys, i'll probably download more of there stuff! I Love that song! ^_^!

Well that doesn't make much sense on several counts to me and it seems he's backtracking a bit. This from Kasim's journal:
I'm here in LA.
Have been for the past week and a half.
I'm here working on a TOP SECRET project.
I HATE keeping secrets but sadly, this is one I'm gonna have to until I'm told by the powers that be it's ok to let everyone know what I'm up to.
Lets see ... How could I go about giving some surreptitious hints without getting myself in Dutch with management????
OK ... One of the guys I'm working with out here is not only an old friend of mine but someone with whom I spent the better part of 10 years working with.
Another person involved in this project has been a close friend of mine for 25 years and in 1980, helped me on my first solo record (although he doesn't appear on it).
The music we will eventually be performing is not just familiar, anyone watching primetime TV might have been subjected to one or two of the songs that are currently being used in commercials.
I wish I could give you more clues but I've probably said too much already. The plan is to announce this collaboration early next month.
Suffice to say, this project will see me out on the road pretty much all of 2006.
You wouldn't announce any form of tour if definite plans weren't in the works.
However........One thing that does puzzle me about it all is......if Kasim is on the road for pretty much all of 2006 with The Cars, then where does that leave Bat3 being released for September? up shit creek without a paddle, unless Meat gets another bassist. Without having a tour to support the release of Bat3 then I can't see it making an impact anywhere really and it becoming a CHSIB scenario.

Rumours of the Cars reforming were circulating as far back as July of this year.
It would be my guess that plans are well underway and someone has had their wrists slapped for leaking the plans!
As for Bat 3 - assuming the album is released on time in September then mayvbe the tur would be announced at the same time for after Xmas. or maybe "touring for all of 2006" is a slight exaggeration. I would be surprised if their was a tour without kasim at the moment. A lot of people seem to be saying that the current line up of the NLE is ne f the best so i would be surprised to see it changed for the final album/possible final big tour.

They were talking about it on the Queen forum as well.......well it wasn't much a discussion really....
I received the following press release this morning from a PR Agency ...
For immediate release -
It's been 17 years since one of the biggest eighties bands in the world last toured.
Watch the trailer - http://www.noblepr.co.uk/let_the_good_times_roll.wmv
Look out for a major announcement on Tuesday 14th March 2006.
Let the good times roll, again.

Though people might like to know.
I did my research and it is Kasim Sulton, not Fulton as the typo claims :P
:bunny: Yey!!! s'Prairie Prince!!! :cheer: With hair! :keke: :p
I hope they tour over in the UK! I'll be gutted if they miss us! >_<!
Kasim's blog has been updated with more photo's from the ongoing New Cars promotion, this time from The Late Late Show taping - which will be aired next week sometime (in the States)
see http://kasimsulton.blogspot.com/ for details
I liked the performance on The Late Show With Jay Leno. It was cool:D
Todd has funky hair:D
Just caught Kasim and the New Cars on the Late Late Show w/ Craig Ferguson. They did "Not Tonight" and it was great. Much better I thought than "Let the Good Times Roll" on Leno. That seemed to drag or something, this was a good rocking performance.
