View Full Version : Things to think about #1: Time Travel
Ok, this is something we have been trying on another forum and seems to work. A few topics for you to consider which generally provokes some interesting responses.
If you had a device capable of breaking down solid matter and projecting through space and maybe even time itself ;), where, when and why would you visit?
the blitz (just like gary sparrow lol) because even though all what ws going on and no matter how bad time were everyone was having they all managed to stick together and make the best of what they had to help with the war effort. it was a time that made everyone real proud to to british.
I really don't know where i would go.
Maybe a primordial swamp to see the first life on earth or Egypt at the height of the Pharohs. But then part of me wants to go to Dallas to stand on a grassy knoll and either shout "duck" or just look around adn see who else was there. Also the Million Dollar sessions at Sun Reocrds with Elvis and Johnny Cash could be cool. Or that meal at the posh restaurant with her in 1998.
I really really don't have a clue.:??::??:
Just watch out for lightning strikes at 10:04pm ;)
Hill Valley 1955 :bleh:

First World War, in the trenches....... to try to stop the human massacre. Those poor men suffered a living hell for the sake of a few feet of mud. God bless them.
 Thieves! I bet he stole Chris' idea: Chiropractor claims to travel through time (http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/12208638/) :bleh:

1967. Woodstock. Then hang around for the next decade or so to witness some great bands, and the birth of Bat.
January 1st 1960......then i'll just keep on going till i get back to 2006......then i'll time travel back to where i started, then travel straight back to the present day future so i'm not old anymore! :p

How about the moment before the big bang to see who flicked the switch?

Saturday 8th of April 2006, 16:14.
So I could place a massive bet on Numbersixvalverde, winning the Grand National! :))
Frikkin 11/1. Imagine that sucker!
And I could also pick the lottery numbers to win a couple of mill on the side.
Now that's an idea I stole from Marty McFly.

whats this???
I'd visit 1969 and see Popcorn Blizzard's rumored rendition of Gimme Shelter
OR I'd visit 1972 and see More Than You Deserve performed at the Public Theater
OR OR I'd go to 1983 and take a bite out of the Cinnamon Cap'n Crunch Cereal they discontinued in 1990 (a year before my birth :()
OR OR OR visit 1933 and ask M. Cooper for the missing spider pit sequence from King Kong thats been lost for a long time now
Man if you gave me a time machine, you just gave Frosty his magic hat :D

Saturday, a few moments after the winning lottery numbers are announced, and long enough for me to have them written on my arm in marker pen. Then i'd like to return to present day, please - I have a trip to the newsagents to make...!

do I remain 27? or if I go back in time do I de-age too? because this would make it tricky to go back in time before 1981. What I also need to know, is whether this is a temporary visit to a different time, or do I have to stay there? coz there aint no way I'm living through this past year again! or several other years of my life!
honestly, there are a few things i would have loved to have seen / experienced, but as all our experiences are part of what makes us who we are now, I wouldn't want to meddle. they say everything happens the way it does for a reason...and I have to hang on dearly to that belief because it's what has helped me get through some very difficult times in the past. if I go back and meddle with the past, who's to say the path i would take would be any better than it has been?!*
*Edit....unless of course that is to travel forward in time in order to obtain Saturday's winning lottery numbers. Then I'm happy to meddle ;)

The obvious one would be to say that I'd take the risks tat i didn't take and end up down a different road.
At the moment, I can definitely say i would go back to when I was a teenager to push my parents into making me learn more about music...whether the me back then wanted to or not.
I would've also said yes to things and situations where I said no.
Overall, everything happens for a reason

so effectively the things that happened for a reason, you'll go back and change them anyway??

No I believe things do happen for a reason, but at the same time if you decide to stay instead of moving and vice versa that will affect what is going to happen to you.
The things that happen subsequently will all happen for a reason.

aye, so the things that have happened to you already, happened for a reason...if you go back and change things, different things could happen. you could upset the equilibrium. you might not have been at liverpool and therefore never met me - see how dangerous that could have been if you meddled??
