View Full Version : Lost in the ways of loaf
It always makes me laugh when I wear my Meat Loaf T-shirt, and people come up to me saying , "Oh! Meatloaf! Thats a realy good band" Have any of you had an experience like that? haha they make me laugh! all should be taught in the ways of loaf:D
:D :D :D :D :D
Is he still alive?
Does he still sweat like a maniac?
Does he still need oxygen?
I thought it was a band?
He writes great songs!
Same here, but the thing that makes me smile, is the fact that everyone obviously knows him!! I can NOT recall someone asking me: Who??

Most time people think he is a band.
The best thing i heard was, when somebody called him "meet love" (very poetic;-) )

Correcting people is part of our ''job'', R(adiomaster) ;)
Yes i've often had the line where people have referred to Meat as a band :bicker: and then people who have pointed at my t-shirt and laughed/mocked amongst themselves and it leaves me to think what narrow minded people there are! Obviously they have no taste and haven't got a life!! :lawl:
Long Live the Loaf!!!! :cheer: :yay: :bunny:

For people in germany (and all other non-english-speaking countries) Meat Loaf just sounds cool, but when they think about what it means, most of them are laughing for an nearly endless time. "What, he really calls himself so???" Why? Never! Youīre kidding" and such things.
I have to add, that it sounds in german no so cool, it whould be Fleisch Klops or Hackbraten.

Same here. I always get asked even at school, I thought Meat Loaf was dead. The answer from me is, You are a complete Moron ! He is still alive and if you listened he is is planning Bat 3. Plus they also make fun of him, ie fatty and shouts down the mic, all I say is nower days music isn't music, no one plays their instruments, its not like the past, Meat Loaf plays guitar and his band actually play. Its music.
They have now learned to keep a low profile whilst infront of Meat Fan
I find the oppisite sometimes, when it comes to Queen. I will ask people do you like Queen? and they say, yeh he was really good. Hello, there were another 3 members of Queen you know.
But yeh I have came across people thinking Meat was a band, people who have never heard of him, and also a very strange case where someone had been led to believe Meat and Jim were one and the same person...
LOL now that would maybe stop all the BAT 3 problems.....
Ross
Drives me mad when people do that!
I mean i love freddie to pieces, but that band would not be the same band without any of the other three! It's four different strong units, working together, making some excellent music...
Meat.....i sometimes get embarressed about being a meat fan (maybe because everything i do usually has something to do with meat) but when I say i've seen meat loaf in concert a couple of times, people are either suprised or impressed....or both! LOL. I also get alot of "Meat Loaf; they did Anything For Love didn't they??" LOL

But there is also one good thing:
Nearly everyone i talk with, even people of my age(17), know him, or have heard of him.
A girl, iīve talked with (i never thought that she knews anything about Meat) even said, that she didnīt like his kind of music, because itīs too pathetic.
So, I think nearly everybody who is interessted a little bit in music knows Meat, thatīs good for the success of Bat3!

Haha, when i was about 13 years old, and a new fan of Meat Loaf, I asked my dad what Meat Loaf's real name was. He replied, Jim Steinman. Lol.

Freddie's solo career wasn't exactly fantastic.... Some good songs, but it wasn't Queen was it?

Is this sarcasm or not? Lol - I don't think that would work to be honest.

no, im honest!
Ok, it doesnt has to be Its a kind of magic or fat bottomed girls, but a version of bohemian rhapsody whould be great, and maybe (although itīs Freddie Mercury and not Queen) Who wants to live forever? (That whould fit to the scheme Bat1-Young guy, Bat2-middle-age guy, Bat3 old guy:twisted: )
But honestly these two songs were great!

Who wants to live forever is a Queen song - a Brian May composition. Perhaps this more so than Bo Rap. But I don't think a Bat album should have a "recognisable" cover on it - such as a song by Queen. Maybe for a B-Side or another album, but not BAT.

Ok, thatīs true, a baat album, should be something special.
Youīre right, thatīs Queen, i mixed up, because it fits to these im-dieing,-lets-do-some-songs,-but-fast Freddy Mercury songs.
My Dad put a picture of Meat and I from the M&G at Mohegan Sun on the counter at our store. He knows how big a fan I am ... and every once in a while, he'll ask our customers if they know who Meat is :-) So far everybody I've talked to knows who Meat is ... some are great fans who really like Paradise By The Dashboard Light and Anything For Love :))
But my favorite one was this young guy who had been a fan for years, saying how he went to one of Meat's concerts back in the 1980's .... and how much he enjoyed Meat's performance in Fight Club and Crazy in Alabama. It's great when people recognize Meat for both his singing and acting here in the U.S. :-)

I was talking to my now-ex-workmates one day, and one young lad said "who is Meat Loaf?". After I revived, we got it sorted. Turns out he didn't know any of Meat's movies, but knew every song word perfect from BOOH and Bat II without knowing the artist name!
I love mentioning he acts as well, and people say "no, he doesn't".
"Um yes, he does"
The best ever was "did you see Fight Club?"
"yeah, I love that film".
Meat was in that.
"no, he wasn't".
Yes, he was. You remember the big guy Bob with the bitch tits?
"yeah"
That was Meat.
"No it wasn't" etc etc.
And a week later they come crawling back "yeah, it is Meat, I had no idea, he's really good".

Yeah, i know such talks, but that shows, how good heīs acting. people see just the role of Bob, and dont see Meat! Else it whould be like: "What, now heīs acting, too? Oooh, heīd better stay just singing"
I think it good so like it is with his acting

Could work - Bruce Dickinson (one of the best voices in Rock music ever - Official) tried his hand at it with Monserat Caballe (sp) and the result was a shi-ite cake. Sometimes these things work, sometimes they land face-down in the mud.
Just like to point out tho, that Bat 3 shouldn't really contain anything non-Steinman, and I don't think Steinman wrote anything for Queen, sadly.

Along with the "oh yeah they're a great band" remark, I also get asked, time and time again.... "what is it that he won't do for love?". I have tried explaining it to a few people, but in the end I just give up.

I really do not understand why people have such difficulty understanding this - the "that" appears in the previous line in each case

I understand it, if you just listen beside doing something else, you here him singing what he all whould do, and then this one "but i wonīt do that!"
But the thing, that i wanna talk about:
Some months ago I had a talk with some girl about Meat
Oh, Meat Loaf! What is this one song that is so slow in the beginning?
Me: Er,... I dont know what You mean.
There is this song, that is so slow in the beginning, and then it getīs real hard rock.
(Until today I donīt know what song she talked about BECAUSE EVERY SECOND SONG OF MEAT WORKS IN THAT WAY!)
I think she ment anything for love, because thats that one song that people know, even if they know no other song.
And then another talk, to some guy from one class above me:
Whatīs that song with the car flying above his head in the video?"
I think everyone of You have benn asked this question, havenīt you???

An awful lot of the general public have trouble grasping the double negative concept.

I've (just as many a Meat Loaf fan has) heard people talking about Meat Loaf as though they were talking about a band rather than one person. I've also heard people missaying I'd Lie For You (And That's The Truth) as I'd Die For You (And That's The Truth.) And I would say "It's 'Lie...not 'Die.'" Heck, one time I was told this idiotic story that Meat got his nickname after he was run over by a truck or something like that, tottally illogical lol.

M.Bison, do you know who started that crazy story? It was Meat, himself. Sometimes he gets bored with the question of how he got his nic name, and likes to vary the story from time to time, to amuse and confuse everyone. LOL.
