I'll be getting a new computer in just over a week, and as it will have windows xp on it, I was wondering if all the documents I have created in MS works word processor 98 will open ok in the xp version? Can anyone shed any light on this?! Thanks:D

Don't quote me, but when I did my teaching assistant coursework which was all typed documents, I had to work on certain ones at home and certain ones at college because the Word Works Processor on XP which I had here wouldn't open in the regular Microsoft Word, which they had at college.

If you're going from one version of Works Processor to another though I can't imagine it'd be a problem? But i know I had problems going from Processor to Word

I've just been trying to open some documents from Works in the new Word and couldn't, I suggest you copy them into notepad and save them, then transfer them over to the new computer, open in Notepad and transfer into Word. That's the only way I could do it!

Thanks for the suggestions, people! I've been saving the stuff in an email, as text they'll transfer onto anything! As precautions I'll save them in WordPad too. Can't wait for this new computer, my old geriatric one has crashed four times today!

Geez...does new computer come with Word software instead of Works? If it doesn't, maybe it's best to invest...Works are not compatible with any other word processing software...that's how people make money...they WANT you to upgrade to Word...
