This is the START OUT OF HELL & ARRIVE TO HEAVEN topic.
Let's Go to Rock 'n' Roll!!!!!!!
Original Sin (9)
I think this is the best rock in the album. I don't understand why have never been Number One! Why hasn't it video? It's very good but... I think Pandora's version is better (I know you will throw stone to me).
The Pandora's version is a special mood, a progressive pop-rock song. Meat's version is more powerfully but its world of music is simpler.
Well, it's good!
My score: 9
Average: 9.00 (162/18 )
Amazing music en lyrics. More powerfull than Pandora's Box version, also the music. It's just the right version for this song.
My score: 8/9
The lyrics are fantaaaaaaaastic. Wonderful!! The chorus sounds great! The piano is dark (er than sin). I like more Pandora's version, maybe because they were first and i get used to it. Somehow Meat's voice does not fit in the song. But it is still good. Except the "boing"in the end it just makes me laugh a little bit. The end of Pandora's with the backing vocals is superb.
Meats version is an 8.
INdeed a great song. Nice lyrics and great music. Well, you all have said it, and i have nothing to add.
8/10

A mysterious and a bit dark sounding song. I love it! Cool Jim-song. It's a great one! One of the greatest Meat ever did.
10/10

 I love the strained sound of the guitars in the intro.
Meat's voice sounds very dark in the opening few lines, until the song explodes.
The lyrics are great, very steinmanesque. This album started out to be Bat III,and I think this would have sat on that album very well.
The only thing missing is the darker than sin speech. That would have put the cherry on the cake 8) .
It's a shame that Original Sin was never released as a single.Meat does great rock songs as well as great ballards and I would like to see them pushed more.Life Is A Lemon got to the stage of having a promo made, but I don't know why it was never released 8O .
9/10 Restless.
Did you know that Taylor Dayne recorded a version of Original Sin with different lyrics for the soundtack of the film The Shadow.
In Dance Of The Vampires Jim also used some different lyrics.

The BEST version of ORIGINAL SIN is:
TANZSAAL on the German Tanz der Vampire CD.
It is the most powerful, energetic SOUND I've ever heard.
Steve Barton sings it, with accompaniment from the Vampire Chorus.
TANZSAAL is the scene where Von Krolock (Barton) bites Sarah's throat
And inducts her into vampirehood. The chorus from TOTAL ECLIPSE OF THE HEART appears as an interlude.
NOTHING BEATS "TANZSAAL"

This song is one of my favourites on the WTTN album, ... Original sin, it's so, ... how to explain this, well .... ah forget it, i have to listen to it now, because it always sents shivers down my spine when i hear it.
A wonderful song 12/10
Rushour
Another great song from a great album.
It really captures a sort of teenage rebellion, when you have broken every cliched rule and want to do something really different.
True rock and roll that gets a great sinful:
8/10
A very good tune, good lyrics, good prodction all the way around.

A brilliant dark song. One of my favourite from WTTN. I think I might prefer the Pandora's Box version though. It's got more to it.
9/10
9/10 although as Jim expressed,
Dance of the Vampires was maybe a unique version.

This should have been on the "Best Of" album, hands down. Definitely a song I have loved ever since landing my grubby mitts on WTTN.

My fave on the WTTN album with Left In The Dark.
I love the construction of the song. The way the music brings the lyrics and wraps one word after the other to move into a tornado of drums, guitars, backgroundvocals and most of all Meat's voice!
It almost hurts to listen to it!
9/10
I LOVE this version!
I give it a 9/10 and am soooo grateful for this recording that really helps to purge a certain really baaaaaad experience from last year out of my system..... ;)

This is definately one of Jims best songs, although I prefer Taylor Daynes version I think Meat has done it proud. And I agree with Lostsoul, it's the best song on WTTN.
I give the song 9.5/10
Meats version 8.5/10

Great way to start the day.

Fantastic rock song! What a kicking intro! Then it goes quiet, and that dark voice comes in. Then it goes hard rockin again!
Amazing lyrics, what power! Vocals are superb! Love it! All of it!
10\10!

I think Original Sin is a great song, with it's dark piano and powerful vocals. I would really like to hear a live version of this song.

This is one amazing song, but for me, Meat really didn't do it any favours at all...IMO
Best version there is, has got to be by Taylor Dayne and the video is fantastic.

I love this song too, but I am going to try and find Taylor Dayne's copy for comparison. By the way, Pandora's Box's version is also good, but Meat's is much better!

LOVE this song. Honestly, it may be my favorite song of all time, there's something so dark and appealing about it. Meat's is the only version I can stand to hear. Sorry guys, I HATE the Pandora's Box version. It just totally screws the song.

Sorry for the slight delay in getting back to you Pud ;)
I prefer it because it is a bit more rocky and slightly less Phil Spector. Also, Meat sings it really well and I think it suits a male voice better (especially the intro and outro).
I like both Meat's and the Pandora's Box version of OS. I was just wondering if anyone has heard the adapted version of OS from Dance of the Vampires? It's pretty different lyrically, but still a very powerful song. I hate the Crawford version I heard, but the Steve Barton demo is fantastic!

Definitely go for the Taylor Dayne version. Imagine if this had have been in the Batman musical (LOL, there I go again...)
I feel if Steinman had have produced the Meat Loaf version it would be 100% better than it already is. It just feels like Meat has taken all the subtlety of the song and turned it into a rock-out
His version is good but bland compared to the others. I also think Jim's original LITD kicks the cr!p out of Meat's, which doesn't even come close, and Streisand's take is even more frightening.
But ech...
Best version I've heard is "Tanz der Vampire". I love how it's a recurring motif

The song definitely suits a female voice better. I know this is a Meat Loaf board and people think that Meat Loaf's versions of any songs that he sings, are waaaaay better than anyone else's, but this isn't one of them.
Pud
hmm.. you are probably right.
I still haven't changed my rating for this big song, but recently I have heard TD's and hers is just as good. As for the video, I agree with you Pud. :D
Great Song...love it and would love it even more if there was a video...this song can make for one hell of a powerful video...
9/10 minimum...

Taylor Dayne...that's a blast from the past...
She disappeared from the radar here a long time ago...Never knew she recorded Original Sin.
Is it something available on the Net? Have to look for it...thanks!

Found it...still don't like female voice for this song...it comes off screechy in some parts...just like Pandora's Box version...although this one is by far better one...
