I was just wondering what is going on and i am hoping you can explain it. I have spoken to Meat on this site through P.Ms and he told me that the single is out on the 21st April, and the album 5th May. But every shop i ask say its the 31st March and the official site says 16th March. Meat also told me when he would be in the U.K to promote but if the album or single is getting released before this there would be no point in him doing so. So what is going on?
:? :? :? :?

All my local record shops Virgin, HMV and MVC etc., do not have a clue as to when the Album is coming out - I visit every day and they say they have nothing listed on their computer for Meatloaf VERY STRANGE

Thats right R. but he told me also. It is all very confusing. I wish Meat would just look at this topic and settle everything.

I got the impression from the OIFC site that maybe the single is being released today? (Although usually singles are released in UK on a Monday.)

I did wonder why Radio 2 were already playing it six weeks before it's expected release date of 21st April.

Also, it doesn't make any sense to me to release the album on 31st March in UK (if indeed the release date has changed) and then the single AFTER the album. Normally singles are released before an album to generate more sales for the album.

i do not undestand this kind of marketing. All these releasedates!! What is it good for? Dist in Germany and then nowhere else. I mean: are they getting crazy or something??? Just use 1 releasedate.
Maybe they just relaease it somewhere, promote it and then they all travel to another part of the world and do the same thing all over again. I do'nt know but i have never seen this before. I have a degree in marketing but this sucks!

According to the local record shops, CHSIB wasn't released today. I wonder if maybe the OIFC site meant that it was being released to radio today? Or maybe they have the old info as at one point it was going to be released on 17th March?

I dont know, surely the OIFC site gets all there info from Left Bank. I also checked shops about release dates they have the album for 31st but no single date. I tried ringing BBC Radio 1 but they wouldn't answer their phones.

Mercury Records have confirmed that "CHSIB" (the album) will be released in the UK on the 31st March. The single will be released on the 21st April.
It's not unusual for Meat to have an album released before the first single. He did it before with "Bat II". Both the album and "Anything For Love" topped the charts for weeks, becoming the best selling album and single of '93!
Maybe it's time for history to repeat itself! :D

that is true, but it was a total different marketingcampaign. A very expensive one also.

back in those days the BBC made a documentary about the marketing of BAT II. It was called "Marketing Meat Loaf". I had seen a little bit of it. i was too late. Does anybody have that documentary? years before they put the album on the market Virgin invested a lot of money in research and everything. it was amazing! so much time, effort and money they put in the record it is unbelievable.

I would of thought bringing out the Album before the single would encourage people to buy the Album and not the single - except for us diehards - but any new comer probably wouldn't then buy the single!
