None I'm a Horror Movie Buff Love the old stuff as far as most new stuff to predictable..........SPICE WORLD is still the scariest................2001 Maniacs with Robert Englund and Travis Tritt pretty good, different worth a rent, and love the killing scenes, and the slapstick comedy.

I love horror movies too. :) Takes a special one these days, to make me jump, and if it can do that ( they are usually too predictable), it was a really good movie. :))

RE: old movies, blackkat..or anyone else.. ever see "Night of the Evil Dead", circa 1974-75? For it's time, it was one of the scariest, had awesome special effects, that still stand up to todays special effects.

If one can have favorites in a catagory such as this... I'd have to say that some of the all time best that I've seen, are...

Night of the Evil Dead
Psycho (terrified a generation)
Texas Chainsaw Massacere
American Werewolf in London (special effects)
Jaws (terrified my generation)
Halloween series
Friday the 13th series
Sleep Away Camp 2 (part 1 was lame)
Nightmare on Elm St. series

There are more, although these are just ones of the top of my head..

Can't say any movies really scare me much these days, the only exception to that was The Ring, which I watched on my own in the house at about 1am and then couldn't get to sleep for ages...

The Omen (original), the Wicker Man (also original:roll: ).
Then there was this movie set in a house with a tall stand up lamp in the attic that controlled all the electrical appliances in the house, and supposedly was posessed by the spirit of the family's dad. And the lamp momentarily had a skull flashed up in it. Being about five at the time I saw it, that was pretty scary! Attysimir, the Evil Escapes I think it was.

when I was a little boy...I was scared by Jurassic Park!:yikes::panic:
(the scene near the end, where the two kids are hiding from the velo...velicori....dinosaurs in that kitchen.)

I really loved "the village of the damned", still a lot scarier than horror films with an overload of special fx.
Although the scene where the car crashed at the wall and exploded is kinda funny...if you see it, you´ll understand it.

The only horror movies I really like are the ones directed my M. Night Shyamalan (or similar). Only can watch them once or twice, they´re great.
his films are:
Unbreakable
The Sixth Sense
Signs
The Village
(havent seen the new one yet. forgot it´s name)

my favourite scene is from Signs:
when they show the tape from the kids birthday on the news. You concentrate on every detail, cause nothing happens, and then you´ll see the silhouette of that alien walking through the picture.

probably my fav horror movie scene ever

I used to love Jurassic Park! Fave movie when I was six! Always have been fascinated by dinosaurs so I wasn't scared as such.
PS - velociraptors!;)

I'm a huge horrow fan and my fave horror movie is 'The Ring'. However, very oddly, the only movie that actually scared me was 'House of Wax'.

Do you mean Hannibal Lecter from The Silence of the Lambs, or the guy from (I think) Halloween?

I always cringe during the ankle breaking scene in Misery ...

Have you read the book? Stephen King? It's a bit different in the book, she uses a chainsaw to chop one foot off and a blow torch to cauterize the wound....

AndyK
03 Oct 2006, 11:15
Yeah, my brother let me read it before he published it ;-) Think that was part of the reason I cring and wince, I just wasn't expecting it, was waiting for something more gory and it never happened

03 Oct 2006, 11:17
Actually...for some reason...Dead Zone scared me a whole lot more than Misery...considering the state of politics at the time I've read it

It was always my favourite Stephen King novel until I found 'Rita Hayworth And The Shawshank Redemption' and 'The Green Mile' - and it was one of the most faithful film adaptations until those two...

AndyK

Now those two are fantastic films, not horror (so way off topic) but fantastic and my DVD player knows them so well :))
