View Full Version : I Think I Get IT
I've finally heard the entire album from start to finish in the order it was meant to be. I have many thoughts on it and I want to share them with this community of fans. Before I do that, I want everyone to know, I am an older fan that looks at an album as a concept piece. I think that is because it was a new thing when I was younger and I embraced that idea.
Okay, now please be gentle, cause I have a lot of life behind me and I do have a tendancy to read into things that may not always be there.
For the last few years the online community has speculated on Meat's marriage. No one really had an answer, it was always unconfirmed.
Well, if you listen to Chapter One of CHSIB, I think Meat is trying to tell us his marriage has ended and what lead to it. Take that with a grain of salt. Just my feelings.
In Chapter Two, it starts with Testify, so I think he is referring to Chapter One, I just testified. Meaning "I'm telling you what I've just been through".
Throughout the rest of Chapter Two, Meat is telling us he moved on, he is happy now and is willing to take on the world. Ending with Forever Young is a message to us, the fans, you are as young as you think. Life is precious and he is enjoying it and so should we.
Agree, disagree, let me know. I think I have an explanation for every song, so ask.
This is the most excellent messageboard I have ever been a part of, kudos to all of you.

Hi Jules :)
I got the CD tonight and can't stop listening to it!
Yes ... I see exactly what you mean. At first I was wondering how Testify fit in, but this makes perfect sense. I still haven't figured out Do It though ...
The entire CD is absolutely incredible and moving at the same time ....

How could I add anything to this? You have said everything I wanted to say about it, no more and no less..
I cherish this album.
Jules, Thank you!
Great day to you,
Mariella
I think you're right with this story of the album. I can't say more about the story of this album.

The songs mean whatever the listener wants them to mean. That's the whole point of music.
Draw your own conclusions, attach your own meanings, but above all else - enjoy!

Jules, I had exactly same thoughts first time i listened to the album. For the first time he opens his soul with his music. It is new to me and infact i like it. besides that, the album touches me. i have never heard him singing so sensitive as on this album. His voice moves me. Thanx Jules for your experience.

Hello Vicky :D
Do you like the album or what? It is truly one of his best, isn't it? I am very curious what the English fans think of the album. Tomorrow we will find out!!
I bet this album comes in the english charts at number one in the first week of its release. Just like Bat 2.

Hi Bart :)
I love it ! It's absolutely incredible :)) Meat was definitely right when he said it was his best one since Bat .. I still can't get the song Testify out of my mind :D
I hope you're right about tomorrow ... the latest message I got from Amazon.com.uk was that it won't be released until April 21st :(
It will be interesting to hear what the English fans think ... but I have a really good feeling about this album :))

Vicki, I think DO IT! (for some reason that title has to be uppercase), makes me think of "Just get out there and get things done". I equate it to the American Nike slogan: Just Do It!. So in that sense it fits.

Thanks Mariella, glad I made some sense.

Thanks Michel!

Bart, yes I really think this time it is more of a personal album. Very different from what we are used to. I like that, change is a good thing!
Take Care!
