This is the START OUT OF HELL & ARRIVE TO HEAVEN topic.
Let's Go to Rock 'n' Roll!!!!!!!
Seize The Night (6)
Very hard to say something about it. First time I loved Carpe Noctem in Tnaz der Vampire. Later I didn't but I had to accept it's one of the strongest song in the musical and it would be a good choice to record this song on Bat3. The problem is the Good Girls part what was recorded before. This song is marvelous, I really like the orchestra version in the musical. This one...
This cover of Carpe Noctem is really bad. Meat Loaf doesn't feel the rhythm, it's not fast, it's not slow but it's not medium. The lyrics is a part of the story. Too long for this one and the choir is a piece of shit. This song is crying for a big choir. 3-4 backing vocalists are nothing... The song could be the strongest son on the album, but it's not. Good song, very bad production and performance.
My score: 6

I do like listening to this track alot. I wonder if it will be played on the Seize the night tour. It might make an interesting opening track. 7/10. I too made the instant link with Good Girls, only to listen to that track and realise that guitar play isn't on Good Girls.

Sorry Paul, but have you ever heard the original version? If this is 10 how much is Carpe Noctem? ;)

9/10..... Meat's vocals are so much better and the guitar work on Meat's version is fantastic. Plus, I love the solo choir boy singing.

It's quite possibly the closest to a real 'bat out of hell' song that there is on the album, but with that said I could do without the first two minutes...i;m getting used to good girls go to heaven riff but at the same time it's not my fav song on the album...although i think the line 'memories collide to change the past' is a brilliant

The second weakest song on the album, never really gets going for me, have to say though I liked them working in the good girls bit. Haven't heard the original.

This was actually the song I was looking forward to the most, and I was sadly disappointed with it the most too. :(
Go to Jim Steinman´s Site (www.jimsteinman.com) and listen to the Kyle Gordon demo of the song. It is terrific and I thought I could be so much better with Meat Loaf´s vocals and the whole style.
But when I listened to it on Bat3, at first I thought "OK, well, it´s different..."
But now I really dislike it.
It´s got a huge potential but sadly the lack of passion is as big as.
It´s probably not a bad song, but for me it´s bad, as my expectations were MUCH higher.

I dont have any problems with the intro. The Tanz intro is different, not better IMO.
Meat's sings it like he is made of plastic. First time I really hear the lines he's singing.I am not sure that is a good thing.
The piano intro is way to short and lacks some magic.
In the Tanz version the song is long but it contains some changes. Meat's versions doesn't have these and is way too long: more of the same, like the repeating verse in the extro and for the 3rd or 4th time the Good girls guitar riff.
The first 5 minutes are okay in a way. But the guitarsolo's spoils everything. No magic.
5/10
The extro in the Tanz version is superb. The Kyle Gorden demo is overall hmm... okay.

I'm not sure about this one. Love The Storm intro, love the choir singing in Latin and love the Good Girls/Back Into Hell guitar riff. But other parts I get bored with. 7/10.

At first I thought that "Seize The Night" was one of the highlights of the album. Now, I'm not so sure. Had a good listen to it again last night, and it just felt wrong.
The "Dance of the Vampires"/Kyle "Scarpia" Gordon demo soars. The Tanz version is one majestic epic. This version: Intro is good, Good Girl riff doesn't bother me at all, the solo boy soprano is a nice touch, but the choir lacks power, the music right after the intro (the loose guitar notes) rubs me the wrong way, and the repeat of the intro at the end makes the song drag.
It's not that it's a bad song or bad version, but compared to the other versions, it lacks.

I don't get this song at all. Maybe need to listen to it more, but just now it sounds like a jumble of different songs put together - weird.

Of course it does, it's a Jim Steinman song ;)

7/10 weird song but has its good points

It's supposed to be weird, it's part of a musical, not really a stand-alone song, with its own beginning, middle and end. Put it in the context of the whole Tanz show and it's not that weird at all.

10/10 love it
I think 'Seize The Night' is a terrific song. I love the Taz version and was really hoping Meat would cover that and 'Braver Than We Are'. It's certainly one of the weirder songs, but the images it creates in the mind are cool. I also really appreciate the fact Meat left 'The Storm' intro in there, and allows the song to mature over a good 8 or 9 minutes. In my opinion this is defiinitely a Bat song, and Bat 3 is all the better for having it. I give 'Seize The Night' 8/10!

There is a thread somewhere about it here...more or less gibberish consisting of Latin and even Greek....

Well, actually, it isn't.
Dies irae, Kyrie! Libera me, Domine!
Dies irae, Kyrie! Requiem da, Domine!
Dies irae, Kyrie! Sanctus, Sanctus exultate!
more or less translates to
Day of wrath, Lord. Free me, Lord!
Day of wrath, Lord. Give rest, Lord!
Day of wrath, Lord. Holy, Holy rejoice!

Although it's true...this is still a mixture of Greek and Latin...Kyrie is still Greek...and if you read your own translation...it doesn't make much sense...that's what I meant...

Well, you're using a different definition (http://www.google.com/search?q=define%3Agibberish) of gibberish then. ;)
Sure, it's not making sense, but it's far from gibberish. And as the section seems to mimic a latin/gregorian (catholic) mass, the inclusion of 'kyrie' is not strange at all. And when was the last time a mass was supposed to make sense?

Really like this one, but it's far from perfect. This is the song I was most looking forward to on the album, and it was quite a let down at first, but I've grown to love it more. The Scarpia demo is awesome, but I understand Meat didn't like the 'dance' beat, and let's be honest, it did sound a bit like 'Holding Out For A Hero', so he tried to 'Rock' it up a bit more. That's fine, but it's the vocals I have issue with. There's not nearly as much subtlety in the verses as I thought there'd be. I would have tried the first few lines a bit softer. I mean, he's trying to persuade the subject to come with him, not ordering her. Stop bellowing, man! The Storm intro was better on the Tanz CD also. But again, I'm nit-picking.
