Just whose butt and boots need to be licked to get Meat Loaf into the Hall of Fame?

Is there something we all need to do, other than simply signing the petitions and mailing in our personal entreaties? And if you are not doing these things already, why aren't you?

Grandmaster Flash and the Furious Five, R.E.M., The Ronettes, Patti Smith and Van Halen are quite worthy inductees I'm sure, but Meat's groundbreaking work within the Rock and Roll field more than qualify him for this prestigious recognition.

Let's get Meat where he justly belongs!

Jann Wenner and he runs Rolling Stone magazine and has for 35+ years. Jann is not a fan of Meat Loaf.

In my heart Meat is there.
We know he should be but alas he is not.
but it doesn't matter to me as long as
I have the records, videos/DVD's and
contact, no hall of fame is nessecery :))!

Point taken, but surely one man (even given his status) can't direct the extensive (or it's supposed to be) voting process? Every nominee is going to have their detractors, so an agenda would have to be running pretty deep to hold so much sway in the system. Or is that just a naive notion on my behalf?

:D An admirable sentiment, but wouldn't you love to see our hero receive the honour he truly deserves?

As cheesy as it sounds, I love Meat to bits, and for that reason, I'd love him elevated to this position.

Meat is of course deserving, and I'm sure he wouldn't mind it but I doubt it bothers him. He knows his success and that it is not all about awards and "honors". That said I think Meat and Jim Steinman should be inducted together. It is 99% sure it won't happen (separately or together) but one can dream.

I think to do that they'd want the original band...i know Blondie had this problem.

So i'd say it'd have to be Meat and Jim together and who knows if that's legally or physically possible

well, I wouldnt say it wont happen 99%, I think itīs more a question of time. He sold some of the most successful rock albums in history, itīs just logical to take him to Cleveland, the only question is: When?

 Both Meat and Jim have done sols sfuff away from each other to be worthy of induction, but it would be fitting that they were both added the same year.

IF the guy at the head of the head of the orginisation CAN keep Meat out just because he himself is not a fan, then i'm afraid that the R&R hall of fame is just a bullsh!t piece of political and commercial flatulence with very little credability or conection to the spirit of what Rock N Roll is all about.

It's about as deep and meaningful as stopping into the hard rock cafe to spend $99.98 on a burger and T shirt.

Did you have any doubts that, like most things like that, it's political and commercial???

 Well in reality, we know that this is run by a bunch of suits working who last worked on selling you the latest cola flavoured drink in a can, but it would be nice to at least believe that one or two people in the industry might give half a damn about the music

Yes, indeed...it would be very nice...

I am often an idealist myself...especially when it comes to art...

There could be an arguement that how can it be a Hall Of Fame without Meat in it, biggest selling solo debut album, third biggest selling album etc etc

Like I care anyway, he's in my hall of fame.........and my front room, bedroom and my office at work lol

You know...it's not a bad Hall of Fame...to collect Meat's albums, his memorabilia, and keep him in the Hall of Fame of your heart and mind...beats the heck out of bureacracy riden institutions...

still, It will be at piece when he does get into the Hall Of Fame.

and I;d like to see him on the Hall of Fame nomination show on vH-1! he always makes a VERY enthusiastic performance when hes nominated or wins something (Look at the brit awards, he did alot of "whew"s and "yeeeeeeeow"s). Thats my uno reason for him to at the least be nominated.
