Wouldn't it be nice if Meat would do a small intimate theatre tour where he performed songs never played live for a while?
He has such a big back catalouge of good songs that this would be great for the real fans who love all the albums instead of just the last few or the bat albums, imagine a set list, it would be like the storytellers tour or the lost boys and golden girls tour, in small theatres.
Songs off deadringer, MATLAF, Bad attitude ect, it would be great, what set list would you like? taking into account that bat songs would be kept to a minimum, maybe none at all?

In theory it's something, but i think it'd be the most unprofitable tour ever for him and to be honest touring is where most artists make their money

A lot of artists do this type of thing though, foo fighters did an acoustic tour recently, yes it would'nt be very profitible but surley it would do ok? it would still sell out cos its meat loaf in a small venue, maybe a fanclub only type thing for just a few shows would be good?

in any event:
I think something like that would be possible, after the ending of the 'official' touring...
he has time then and could surely do something uncommon.
Maybe a lost songs, or an unplugged tour, with just 4 or 5 concerts, one every week or two....
We'll see...

That's this fan club ruled out then:)
No seriously i understand what you mean and in some regards i'd welcome it,Since i've always said Meat should do something with Rick Rubin, I think you'd get a brilliant more acoustic driven album.
I'd say his management looks at the big picture which is the last (last) world tour and if you want new people to come to it you're going to have to play them songs that they might be familiar with ie songs from the three Bat Albums.
Though why he keeps performing Gimme Shelter is beyond me.

I´ll say in a time, when Korn is recording an accouustic album, EVERYTHING is possible

It's an intriguing idea, and I would love to see sxome of those songs with a decent live recording (especially IGLHFBOU), although Razor's Edge would probably send me to sleep, even at a concert!
why cant he do some of his 80's rockers? Do some in every concert. not a whole concert of them though.
i'd like ta see him reunite with stoney and do some of those songs.
IMAGINE:
Stoney and Meat loaf - Paradise by the dashboard light!

Razors edge sounded great during the 1983 tour, a lot more heavy with a great intro.
These songs need to be heard live again!

I read an q & a session with Joe Elliot from Def Leppard on their official site recently in which he was asked about the 'obscure songs' that never get played his answer was this.
' For the few people on the message board who get a kick out of that, there's still 99% of the audience that'll go 'I don't know this song' and that's one of the moments when you go down like a support band. It's great to see a handful of faces light up when we play such a song, but they're surrounded by thousands who wonder what the hell we're playing. It's impossible to please everyone at the same time but it's our job to please as many people at the same time.'
I'd say Meat looks at this a similar way.

Thats why a tour of some sort would be a better idea rather than meat playing lots of obscure songs to an arena full of people who want to hear Bat Out Of Hell

Yeah, but you could always do 1 or 2 shows where the whole idea is to play songs that havn't been heard live in a long time as long as this is made clear in the marketing. I'd sure as hell pay!

I think it wouldnt sell that bad if it's promoted as lost songs tour or whatever...then only people who really want to see these songs will buy the tickets.
I think that's a very bad idea, I hope he never does that. It wouldn't sell enough tickets to fill up a phone box never mind an arena.

I think if it was made clear in the marketing, it'd sell less. All in all meat's 60 this year...since his early 30's every tour has taken too much out of him, so with the limited time he's got left to perform and the limited time the voice is going to still be strong enough for over 100 dates for shows, he'll stick to what's tried and tested
It'd be interesting to hear him performing the 'obscure songs' but at the same time i think they'd lose some of the things that he originally brought to them

Heck have him play Vegas.....few shows a month and that would be cool....as long as he don't get pushed to much

I would love to hear some of the lesser known songs played live, but i agree that there may not be enough people to fill out a venue?
I guess if he did just a couple per country it could work as most hardcore fans would travel to see it.
ALthough it'd be great, and I'd be up there at the front of the queue for tickets if meat were to do such a thing as a Lost Songs tour, I just can't see it being economically viable.
Not only is there the cost of taking the show on the road, which would be very high with limited payback for only a couple of shows per country; but it would take the band a lot of rehearsal time to get the performances of the songs to a level where they'd all be happy to play them on stage in a concert. All this costs money, and sad though it is to think it, it's just so unlikely to happen.
i was thinking about this the other day. i thought a good name for this type of show/tour would be-
Meat Loaf
RARE!

then I'd like to see one or two 'lost songs' at every concert...many artists do that...but on the other hand, tehre isnt much time left to wish that...
But you're right, you probably wouldnt get enough people to fill a venue, think of the critics about the latest shows. Just a few of them only MENTION the second half of the show with the new songs. :?

a

Original Sin
