For the reason PanicLord sort of explained above: you lose too much of the song. I'd rather have one song done well than three songs butchered and stuck together.

Either way, thought it was a great performance and a fantastic way to prove those mean old Aussies wrong - well done to Meat and the band.

I originally thought it was lipsynched but then listening to it again I realised that is wasn't!!!

Meat sounded awesome!!! I hope he is pleased with it! I was very proud of him as you cam see touring sometimes has worn his voice out a bit!!! I was very pleased for him when the video clip finished!!! He sounded freakin amazing and did an awesome job!!!

Well done Meat! Pleased for ya an I hope you're pleased too!!

I agree with all you said. I'm guessing this means that his vocals have healed up as he sounds so great and not like he's got a bit of a sore throat.

I'm glad he's had a break from touring! Fantastic performance and hopefully many more to come without him overdoing it!

Yeah after re watching it I think also the performance is in fact lip synched.

Still awesome though. I wonder if hes lip synching to edited versions of the Sydney DVD recordings of AFL and TTW

I have to agree with this, I believe it was live. Meat has been off tour for several weeks, and his voice is rested and he gave it his all and gave us one of the best television performances in years. Not lip synched.

I'm just curious Wario ... you said yourself you thought it was awesome. So why not just leave it at that, instead of putting the performance under a microscope to try to analyze every little note and detail :??: ;)

Are you sure? That's what I thought, too. But Michael Bublé will be there on Monday.

Thanks for posting the link!
Dec. 14th?! Well, now I'm confused… :??:

suzieq 04 Dec 2011 20:02

Can anyone tell me why it's a big deal if he did lip sync? Did it take away from the performance for you? Is the performance less credible to you? I just don't get it.

Guppie 04 Dec 2011 20:05

He sounded great, better than I have ever heard the last few years. And great promo, wetten dass is huge in germany, and T. Gottschalk was saying goodbye after 25 years, what a great host he was! I think he will be missed on t.v. by the Germans. From what I saw, he was one of a kind...

The Dutch fans were so pleased with this performance. So... if Meat indeed goes to germany may 2012, we Dutchies all try to go to one of the German concerts. the German fans have made us all feel very welcome in the past, and I'm sure we'll feel welcome in 2012 as well.

Either way, it's impressive, but if live it means it's a great rebuff to all the recent harsh criticism and proves he can still do it under time pressure and on live TV too (which we know he doesn't like)!

Thank you

duke knooby 04 Dec 2011 20:52

i would be surprised if they had been allowed to do the medley live with the restrictions often imposed by live tv, but it was very good, especially how paul did the guitar motorcycle revving noise

AndrewG 04 Dec 2011 20:59

Even on the X Factor most of the guests usually lip synch even though those are suppossed to be "real" artists in comparison to the contestants. It's quite normal indeed for TV. In fact I think almost all of Meat's performances on UK tv in the 90s and early 2000s have always been done like that and hardly ever with a full band.

Monstro 04 Dec 2011 22:05

What's often done is that vocals are recorded during rehearsals etc and used on the live show, that way you're still getting live vocals just not live live, if you see what I mean. Not saying that's the case here before I'm jumped on lol

Wario 04 Dec 2011 22:16

Just realized the intro to the show showed breif footage form the DVD:

It dont bother me whether it was lip synched or not. I was just saying that it wasnt a lip synched performance. Dont matter to me but I was bloody impressed and pleased for him because of the performance and very proud of him!!!

Im having a bromance with Meat Loaf!!!

Isn't the DVD supposed to feature footage from Sydney? The artwork on the drumkit appears to be from HCTB. As far as I know, the bass drum was decorated with the HIAH cover artwork during the Sydney concert.

Edit: I knew it looked familiar: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Gh8vVDMXGEQ

It does not matter if it was lip synced or not. It sounded goddamn good, They did amazing work on it, and it has the potential to get meat to #1 in Germany because of the fabulous production. Anyone who whines about it has got nothing better to do in their life except pick everything apart done by meat.
