Oceanīs Eleven
:up::up::up: |
Not a movie, I know, but I watched all of the C series of QI yesterday... Have The Salton Sea planned for later...
|
I watched the Da Vinci Code the other day, I think I'm the last person on the planet to see it. Found it very interesting, and certainly got me thinking, imagine if it were true!!!!

I adore The Da Vinci Code (though yet another example of the book kicking the film's ass!) and I've got to say, without starting a religious debate, I found the story and theories more believeable than I did every piece of religious education I was taught in 12 years of school!
Angels and Demons is supposedly in the making too, can't wait to see it but there's no way they'll be able to capture the book in a feature length film |

AVP followed by AVP2 (made bubbles sit through both of them)
I thought the idea of making it into some kind of teen horror/disaster movie was kinda strange, though you have to give the filmmakers credit for not trying to copy AVP. AVP3 is supposed to be much better...we'll see... |

And as to the book Angels and Demons...I found it to be sloppy seconds... |

At least some research and accuracy was used, unlike his earlier two efforts.

As works of fiction they're very good for that genre, certainly far better than many others on the ookshelves.. His books have improved in content and subject matter, and I'm sure the next one will be a good read when he gets it finished.

I think it's as much a case of hitting the right subject matter at the right time and hence getting a decent amount of press exposure and public interest in a book written when the authoers writing style has matured. I think he'd probably earned enough from the previous books to enable enough time and money to be spent on the research of the latter.

The Solomon Key is the working title of an unreleased novel currently in progress by Dan Brown, author of several novels, most prominently Angels & Demons and The Da Vinci Code. According to current information, The Solomon Key will be the third book involving the fictional Robert Langdon, a Harvard University professor. No release date has been announced.
This according to Wikipedia...didn't we have a reading thread somewhere here??? Solomon Key...NOW...that is MUCH more interesting subject... |

Next one "The Solomon Key" is supposed to be about the freemasons in and around Washington and is supposed to feature the Yale secret society which G W Bush was a member of .. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Skull_and_Bones (although we all know how accurate this can be :lol:) A future book is rumoured to feature Mozart's association with the masons. |
Don't think Mozart had much time or inclination to be involved with anybody/anything but his music...and I won't read anything about Bush...had enough already...

the thing that annoyed me the most about the da vinci code film was that they sucked all the chemistry that the two main characters have in the book, there's a spark going throughout and the film just ignores this...also i didn't think Hanks was the greatest of choices...maybe if they would have had some chemistry between the characters it would have worked better

I personally thought Angles & Demons was better than the da vinci code. The code was way overhyped IMO.
Could be a little biased though, as I've read A&D while being on holiday in Rome... His other two books I found rather mediocre...Had a bit of a feeling he was telling the same story over and over again... |
