I was a little shocked and it's worrying being this is a networking site geared with young members also, you bet your bottom dollar I reported these images, if you see anything like this it needs to be reported.

Rant over !

And I bet a dollar it wasn't a bottom that you saw.

Not sure that using the phrase "young members" was such a good idea either...

OK School kids then :-P !!

mszee 08 Jan 2009 19:29

As far as I am concerned, young people should be educated about human anatomy and sex...this way they won't have forbidden fruits to get and it won't be something secret/dirty which leads to some problems later on...

I absolutely agree Zina. Sex education and age appropriate discussions at home help prevent hang ups, unnecessary anxiety and accidental pregnancies. It's not a matter of saying that anything goes....more helping children understand that sexuality is a wonderful part of life...but, a bit like fire, needs to be approached in an informed and respectful manner. I hope we have managed to convey to our kids that sex is nothing to be ashamed of, or worried about....but that it can bring about incredibly far reaching changes in people's lives.

I agree with this. Discussions, etc are necessary and at least over here, everyone gets hysterical at the school level concerning discussing sex in any way, even in health class. The rules are thick and unreal. In the home, it can be just as bad, especially in a heavily religious home. Hysteria extends to the home as well. But people forget that some art classics are unclothed.
But what must be prevented is posting porn, where the young kids do have access to Facebook. That is where caution has to come in. And I'm talking about obvious porn, not the pic of the statue of David.

mszee 08 Jan 2009 22:48

Ummm...to this I have one answer...go to Google...click on images...and put...I don't know...something as innocent as "giant"...lol...once you're on the internet, you can't prevent porn from getting in...

that is true; so I guess this is where parental controls comes into the picture, to avoid the sites where the porn is. Then we are back to the ignorance thing again. This isn't an easy thing to win.

Well, that's my point...ignorance is what attracts kids to porn...cause true hardcore is pretty boring for educated consumer...if you don't make any secrets about it and you don't really forbid it...sooner or later youngster will loose an interest...and if they don't...it will be a healthy interest...

Of course, I am talking about teenage years and up...anybody before teenage years shouldn't be discussed sex with anyway...

mszee 08 Jan 2009 22:55

AND...anybody before teen years shouldn't be on the the facebook and/or internet anyway without supervision...yes, this is where parents come in...

If you put strict filtering on google's 'safe search' surely that prevents just about anything getting in!

in MY day there was no internet ... so childhood meant using this almost-extinct thing called 'imagination'. I don't remember EVER being bored as a child, there were always too many games to play, things to do - and that's with friends OR on my own (being an only child...explains a lot of things ;))

Well, my ADD definitely worsened with advent of the Internet...I used to read a lot...now I can't read even blogs here - too long for me...

But it is what it is...I used to read my mom's medical books for porn...lol...trust me...it's not fun...but the only reason I actually was searching for info cause nobody ever talked to me about it or answered my questions straight...

mszee 08 Jan 2009 23:03

AND...yes, you can put search control on google...which as easy to remove as it is to put on...and I was just using google as an example...

AndyK 08 Jan 2009 23:07

You seem very knowledgeable about searching for sex on the internet Zina ...

Betty 08 Jan 2009 23:20
