sweet!!! another concert in my front room!

melon 09 Oct 2012 13:31

Also..... all these screen caps being posted are a fair bit clearer than I'm seeing them on TV, so I'm thinking it's nothing to do with the DVD

Yes, the Teletubbies were cut. The weird Wonderland characters didn't make any sense in the song to me either. Meat said he and Patti were going on a date but we never got to see the date because the play-by-play started before they were back onstage. Otherwise, Paradise had fantastic vocals, chemistry, and improv by Meat and Patti. I didn't really like the segment before Paradise. I know they were stalling because of a costume change, but there would have been time for another song in the setlist at that point.

Smithie 09 Oct 2012 16:34

It's really interesting to read everyone's differing opinions and tastes. The highlight for me was the vocals. Meat sounded really great. Way to go! Patti sounded fantastic, but I wish she had the opportunity to sing more lead. The band is talented but the instrumentals were much too long for my taste. There would have been time for a couple extra songs if the instrumentals were shortened. I did enjoy the instrumentals in Rock N Roll Dreams, but not in Two Out of Three- it sounded like a different song to me. My favorites on the dvd were actually the new songs- LOTO, LA, and SITS. The documentary was a big letdown for me- no interviews with the band and the interview with Patti was omitted. Very disappointing. But nice job by Meat, Patti, and the band.

The documentary is very disappointing. I recall Meat mentioning the band, but not a word about Patti. I feel sad for her. I can't believe they left her out.

Monstro 09 Oct 2012 18:54

I suppose at some point I really ought to buy this :D

I haven't received my copy yet, but didn't Wario say "Paradise" was 26 minutes long? If they had not edited it the DVD would have consisted of around 3 or 4 songs. Sometimes "Paradise" runs on a bit too long, I think they got it about perfect on the MMW tour, but I did not time it or anything LOL.

razorball2002 09 Oct 2012 19:56

The DVD is great, the show great, Meat's energy is ok. But most of it is vocally re-done, I don't know if they re-do the vocals in the studio or if they just record Meats voice at the show and autotune it, anyone can help me to know how they do it?
Oh and for the sceptics, please watch/hear the beginning of Hot Patootie on the documentary and compare it to the "remastered" version of the Live DVD.
This is my personal opinion, but I would have preferrerd to have a DVD of The UK Hang Cool Tour, as his voice was exellent and wouldn't have needed so many overdubbs.
I understand this is a product that goes to the masses, but as a fan I prefer Meat's "real" voice, even if it is shot (and apparently it was shot in Australia).

Also, im gald the vocals have been redone. Meat sounds sooo soo sooo good and I love it!!!!! Yeah a UK show wouldve been better (with DRFL and SOM) its stil la great disk. My favorite DVD of the year.

Okay first of all Meat said they were keeping about 80% of the vocals so actually you're way wrong, most of the vocals are genuine. Also I remember in exactly the same post he said he wasn't happy with Hot Patootie so yes that was one of the songs redone. Please try to get your facts straight before stating you know something to be true. Either way, the vast majority of the performance is genuine from on the night.

Me too. I want a great sounding performance no matter what had to be done to make it the best possible . Almost every "live" CD and DVD had fixes done. Some of the most famous "Live" albums of all time were not really live at all yet sold multi-platinum. I'm sure if Meat had been psychic he would have chosen a show without a bleeding vocal chord but he went on anyway as a true pro does. I just got my copy and can't wait until my meeting tonight ends so I can finally experience it. I just moved apartments so I guess I better not blast it too loud at night LOL.

Nope, afraid not, not all Blu-ray's are region free. New releases by certain studios like Fox, Disney, New Line etc region code discs still either A, B or C, depending on country. Hopefully with this not being a major release it could be region free. If it is I will buy, as I wil not purchase the DVD :-(

mikeloaf 10 Oct 2012 01:53

Paradise was a bit weird but it must have been an idea Meat thought would work, I thought it was funny. To be honest it was 10 mins too long and they could have done another song in that time.

Elijah's way 10 Oct 2012 01:54

the quality pf this dvd is terrible!! I think the 3 bats dvd is better than this but it's still watchable. :(

mikeloaf 10 Oct 2012 01:56

Well 3 Bat was uncut, this one is more like a TV show. It is not terrible!

Ah ... thanks for the clarification Jayd :-) Hopefully it will be region free and you'll get a copy.
