Just gotten back from our ANZAC Day Dawn service to remember our fallen, returned and current defence force personnel. It was my first one, I've participated in different parades & ceremonies over the years but this was my first dawn service and I really enjoyed it. They had a jet & some vintage planes fly over. I have some photo's below.

My thought right now is that a really, really, really want a Jameson & Coke. Since I can't afford the Jameson, it will just be Diet Coke for me

I didn't know that about your mom, B-barb and I'm sorry to hear ... It must be so hard on and sad for you... You're blessed you belong to a close-knit family ... xo

it does help me cope though with having the grandchildren they are such a blessing ,i love them so much and at least my mum has seen them and can still remember them at the moment (Just ,maybe not their names lol ) as my dad only saw my eldest daughter as he died when i was 21,but my stepdad is brilliant thank god

OH, my father passed when I was 22 years old ... Jan 1973 ... I was married for just a few months (and my parents hadn't been fond of the man at all... he's an X now ... lol ... ) and my dad was just the greatest guy ... I feel sad around the times of the anniversary of his birth and death that I didn't get to know him adult to adult and that my daughter never got to know the truly kind, funny, good guy who was her grandfather ... That's great that you get on well with your step ! ... My mother dated a man from within a year after my dad's death until her own in 1980 ... After her passing the family lost touch with the man ... xo

today is the "walpurgisnacht"
this is from wiki:
Walpurgis Night (Walpurgisnacht) is a traditional spring festival on 30 April or 1 May in large parts of Central and Northern Europe. It is often celebrated with dancing and with bonfires. It is exactly six months from All Hallows' Eve.
The current festival is, in most countries that celebrate it, named after the English missionary Saint Walpurga (ca. 710–777/9). As Walburga was canonized on 1st of May (ca. 870), she became associated with May Day, especially in the Finnish and Swedish calendars. The eve of May day, traditionally celebrated with dancing, came to be known as Walpurgisnacht ("Walpurga's night").
The German term is recorded in 1668 by Johannes Praetorius as S. Walpurgis Nacht or S. Walpurgis Abend. An earlier mention of Walpurgis and S. Walpurgis Abend is in the 1603 edition of the Calendarium perpetuum of Johann Coler, who also refers to the following day, 1 May, as Jacobi Philippi, feast day of the apostles James the Less and Philip in the Catholic calendar.
The 17th century German tradition of a meeting of sorcerers and witches on May Day is influenced by the descriptions of Witches' Sabbaths in 15th and 16th century literature.
