That's gonna hurt, might even rip her a bit and it'll be all your fault :)) Hope she doesn't need forceps or suction  make sure she has lots of drugs ;)

Good luck!

Boy 8lb 9oz is my guess.

Thought the definite date would've given away the fact it's a caesarian, she'll have all the drugs she can handle lol

Some people use a date as an indicator of due-date and not a date of caesarian and even then the date of caesarian might be changed if the midwife thinks it's for the better.

What some Mothers don't realise with a caesarian is that it's major abdominal surgery and they try and carry on with everyday life after birth when they should be taking it easy. Make sure she takes it easy, NO DRIVING or the stitches might pop and you could be up shit creek.

Good man. Someone we know was driving 2 days after a caesarian and the stitches popped and she had to stay in hospital for a couple of weeks after that. All my kids were vaginal deliveries and it made me glad of being a bloke - OUCH!!! (legs-crossed)

How much paternity leave in the UK are you entitled to?

Pud

Monstro 20 Aug 2008 01:08

Two weeks paid, entitled to 4 more but they're unpaid, saved me holidays this year though and work are letting me work from home for a while

Battybarb 20 Aug 2008 09:04

It's ok pud, i know from last time what a caesarean can be like, had to have one with last baby cos she was too big for natural birth, this is why we're going straight to it this time, i was in labour for 27 hrs last time before they realised i needed a c-section, that and the other risks invloved with natural birth after c-section are too much to risk it.

Do feel a bit robbed of the birth experience though if i'm honest

LucyK! 20 Aug 2008 10:50

Really? It's so interesting that people feel like that whereas I'm the exact opposite, could handle raising a baby but I'd rather eat my feet than "have" it :?

djfierce 20 Aug 2008 11:00

lmao i used to be exactly like that Luce but it all changes when you actually go thru pregnancy and bring that littlun into the world...something just clicks inside you...kinda hard to explain really but only then do you find out what unconditional love is.
The trouble with c-section is not only the risks as pud says its a major surgery and there are lots of things that can ho wrong, the list of things i had to sign allowing them to do if it doesnt go according to plan is an eye opener lol, but the bigger thing for me with casey was i heard her cry, saw my partner go off with the midwife but it seemed forever before they stitched me back up and i got to see her face :( i guess that's where i feel robbed and also not being able to hold her/feed her properly for a while due to pain from the stitches.

btw i saw the way you looked at casey ;) you're not so against kids as you make out i think :p

LucyK! 20 Aug 2008 11:06

LMAO a person could be made of stone and Casey would still crack them, she's beautiful!!! We must send you the pic of her with her feet up and holding Chelle's mobile

I'm not dead against kids - worked with them for long enough - I'm just too selfish to have them!!! I couldn't cope being pregnant, the thought of giving birth makes me shudder...I think I think too much about everything I'd be giving up rather than gaining :? I'd be perfectly happy if someone made me a baby and gave me it, just don't want to "have" it

In saying that though *goes all serious for a minute* I'm saying that as a person who assumes that when/if the time comes I'll be able to do it all naturally and it'll be my choice, dunno how I'd feel if my "right" was taken away...

Let's just all get puppies

By that do you mean you feel robbed of the potential 27 hours of swearing at Michael knowing he just has to accept every word with a lovoing smile?

Cpl Mickey 20 Aug 2008 12:03

All the best to you both xx

Boy 8lb 2oz

Hypnobabe 20 Aug 2008 15:16

Okay... I'm attempting to be scientific here...

Statistically, the older the father, the more chance there is of the baby being a boy, and second babies tend to be bigger than first babies... so my guess is: Boy, 9lb 2 oz... and I don't envy you carrying that weight around Anji! Luckily my two were both less than 8lb... just make sure you take the advice that's already been given with regard to taking it easy afterwards, let M spoil you!! Hugs xx
