I'm with you on that one Dotster. You can't compare BOOH with CHSIB.They are both superb albums in their own right, but very different ,you can't compare one to the other,it's daft to try.Just enjoy them for what they are!!

Peat Loaf 12 May 2003 13:34

Nothing will ever come close to BOOH sorry peeps but thats a fact i don't understand how any one can compear any album to it :(

I'll agree Bat will be impossible to be topped, it was a defining album, and to me, Bat 2 is too. Where the new one fits in after that is still up in the air with me, i need to give it a bit more time :D

But I think that better than bat is possible... my 0.02 eurocents

Bart 13 May 2003 11:04

i have heard that statement before from other fans. Which album one prefer is also because of the sentiment. Which one has made you a fan. Which one have you heard first. Bat was my first, bat 2 was yours.

Shane 14 May 2003 01:51

Bat

I won't say that topping Bat is impossible, because I don't know what the future will bring. Maybe some people think Bat 2 is better. Maybe some people will Bat 3 will be better. Maybe some day another songwriter will come along that might be better than Jim. Some will say that's impossible, but how do you know the future? How do you know what else is out there that you haven't heard? I don't know every other songwriter or album in the world that exists so I can't really say that it is the best album. But I'm not really interested in making comparisons. I don't find that an interesting topic, so I wouldn't go into that subject anyway, at least not often.

Personally I wouldn't say that Do It is the wrong song for Meat. I would say that we don't really know Meat as well as we could if we didn't expect him to do such a song. I don't think of it in terms of the rhythm or style (almost rap-like), but that it is different (refreshing), and a good message...DO IT!!! Listening to him performing that song reminds me of him doing the last minute of All Revved Up in Storytellers. It shows that classic, virtually limitless Meat Loaf energy.

original sin 15 May 2003 00:19

I don't think they can be compared. To some degree its almost an evolution. Probably the first song you hear will be be the one that sticks with you and for me it will always be BooH as a single and album. BooH itself has just gotta be the best intrumental intro of all time

Ben 15 May 2003 00:57

i agree about the intro, its fantastic!

Peat Loaf 15 May 2003 01:00

Took the words was the first song i heard walked in to my mates bed room when he was playing the album i was hooked imeadeately

some of you just don't get it!!!! it is very funny and it's only 2 min and something long, and the way it was recorded will one day make history.

Shane 17 May 2003 04:23

Meat

Will you be performing it on the world tour?

Tim 17 May 2003 12:58

Coulndn't have said it better, Fire Ball.... it is indeed very funny!!!!

evil nickname 17 May 2003 14:28

Well, when I first heard CHSIB (the album) from start too end, I was all like "is this the album I've been waiting for, for the past 3 years?" The songs just didn't grab me, with one exception (sp?): Do It!
This song stood out, just because it's different from what Meat has done... and indeed, it's very tongue-in-cheek (at least, that's what I think). Personally, I would be rather disappointed if CHSIB was exactly like Bat, or Dead Ringer, or Bad Attitude, or all the others. It's different! If I want another record that sounds just like Bat, I'll listen to Bat some more. Change is good. And artists need to grow and expand their style. Otherwise you'll end up with a bunch of albums which all sound alike. Dutchies will know what I mean when I say: Frans Bauer. (For all none Dutchies here: AC/DC is accused of releasing the same album every year or two, cause they all sound the same. Well, Frans Bauer releases each year the same album with 12 times the same song)

Well, my 2 eurocents on this matter.

In my book, Bat 2 wins the award for best packaging, Dead ringer, chsib, I'd Lie for You, BOOH, Anything For love, paradise, testify, nothing sacred, why isnt that enough  - best song!! (God, I should be on the telly), BOOH

'nuff said

Danny

Danny L 17 May 2003 18:15

Just curious now. Anyone know why the way "Do It!" was recorded will someday make history?

Feleena 17 May 2003 21:02

:D Hey Diane perhaps Fire Ball could tell us??

mariella 18 May 2003 11:33

Yes, I would also like to know how Do It was recorded, but I am sure one day Meat will tell us all about that!

I have been listening to YRIWW this morning, LOVE the vocals, maybe I just think the other songs on the album are SO great, compared to them I feel this is just a litlle 'less great'. But I am working on it. Thank you!!

Great day to you,

Mariella :bunny:

I never understand the need or desire to try to compare Meat's albums and decide which is "best" .. each for me is a beautiful album .. I am buying a work from a man who is driven by a desire to constantly improve .. so I expect to hear that .. and I do, simple as that.

Some songs may edge forward a little at times because the words call to me in a specific way ..but if you ask me what is my favourite I inevitably find myself thinking .. the one I'm listening to! And with the current album every single track seems perfect .. and each acts as counterpoint to the others .. there is variety yet harmony, a perfect balance .. nothing disappoints from the frenetic energy of Do It, to the vocals on You're Right (how anyone can dismiss that as over simple is beyond me) to the sheer brilliance of Man of Steel to Because of You, which captures that incredible feeling of being consumed by falling in love, to the WOW of CHSIB, to the evocative Did I Say That etc etc. I just wish the album could have included the deliciously Decadent Wish as well :))

For me each album and each song are like carefully crafted works of art .. like a piece of blown glass or furniture. Impossible to say whether I like the vase better than the dish, or the chest of drawers better than the table .. each was made by a craftsman, each is a perfect delight to behold .. Meat is a craftsman and each is a perfect delight to hear :))

Terri 18 May 2003 23:49

Totally agree with CarylB -

But I must say with CHSIB I love each and every track. As it is with BOOH. It's along time since I have bought an album where I have been able to say that.

I think Fire Ball meant the vocals on Do it! are great, not YRIWW

mariella 19 May 2003 16:40

Dear Baldy,

You could be right about that. Yes, thank you!

Still feel YRIWW is good but not AS good as the rest of the songs.

Great day to you,

Mariella

Yes you are right. I think Fire Ball just said the same thing
I still think that he put it on the record to do Warren a favour.

I always liked "Do It!" since i first heard it. There is absolutely nothing wrong with this song. The solo equal to "Because Of You" 's in amazing outstanding way. It is indeed funny, but near the first, where you say "Stake Your fakin' put your reputation to it! Dot it, Do It, Just Do It" I so really agree with that line. now as for "YRIWW", it took me a bit more to understand, it is a great piece, and I'm liking it more and more everytime I hear it. It is my least liked song on the record, but its still awesome. quickly turning from and an 8, to a 9\10. see what i mean?

opinions are opinions, and we all have one. there is only one kind of bad opinion. the opinion you make up to please someone. if its not your TRUE opinion, that is a bad opinion. opinions can also change, that doesn't make it a bad opinion. i always base my opinions to myself, and they often change, but that's the way things go, am i right?
