Meat's been bragging since he turned 60 that he's an old man now; and he did say it onstage about being 60, so 1947 is the correct one. He's never hidden his age, just played with the media with it occasionally, but he isn't playing now.

Doesn't sound like bragging to me. More like "oh shit, I'm old". Does anybody have a plausible explanation why he stresses how old he is all the time? I think it's a little strange.

I'm sure I recognized a "51" in that passport and I don't think that that number was a "mistake". I believe he just likes to fool people when it comes to his age or name (and he's obviously very successful at that). ;)

I wouldn't call it bragging but he does mention age a lot...that is just simple insecurities...coming from a fat kid who was consistently shoved into a locker, etc...

And as to his age...as far as I know he was NEVER quoted in America as being born in 1951, he was always born here in 1947. This 1951 thing comes from one interview taken somewhere in some pub in England...and as far as I know that's the only journalist who actually claims he saw the passport...

With this said, Dan has a passport with incorrect information also, and so do other people I know...but to understand how difficult it is to correct a mistake in passport here is not quite possible...we walk around with incorrect info in our passports and drivers licenses cause we know if we try to correct it we will be in deep crap...

Might be but it's no proof that this is also the case with Meat Loaf's passport. Are your authorities indeed that sloppy when issuing passports?

As I said, I think it's rather strange. Why should he claim to be younger than he was in 1995 but now he has no issues with representing himself as an old man?
No matter whether he's 57 or 61, he obviously has some kind of problem with his age - which is stupid, in my opinion. He could be 90 and still make out with young women on stage, fine with me :mrgreen:, but this constant "I'm 60(+) years old blablabla" talk annoys me.

Yeah, our authorities are...ummm...difficult to correct things...

Personally I think it's more a case of Meat having an on stage snipe at those young hip music journalists who like to put the words "ageing rocker" in the same context as the words "Meat Loaf" (or any other rock star who shaves regularly). There's a faction of the press who think that rock stars should retire when they're past a certain age ... I'm sure this winds him up a bit.

I remember that guy from the Faroe islands (?) who asked him "how old can a rock star be" at the Sweden Rock Festival and he responded "how old can a journalist be". That was an intelligent way to deal with the problem. Deprive them of their ammunition, don't provide them with any. :up:

Welll my passport has incorrect information as I just found out when I tried to renew it. Don't know what's wrong though as they won't tell me. Now I have to apply for a new one which is giving me all sorts of problems and is a pain in the arse. But Meat did say in an intewview when asked about his age he lies about it because age and numbers piss him off and he doesn't see why it is relevant to quote people's ages all the time.

When I had to apply for a replacement passport, they managed to take the detail of my father's middle name and give it as mine.

They handed it to me when I came to collect and it took another day to resolve, all because of one name being under the other on my birth cert.

So these mistakes do happen.

I believe it was 1947,I know you can't solely go on another person's age but Steinman being born in 1948 would lead me to believe they are around the same age.

All these comments made me check my own passport for mistakes :lol: but it's okay.

I'm sure there's a lot of truth in that :) .. also I think there's perhaps something about him now embracing his age more and making light of it .. As to him saying on stage he's 60 rather than 61 .. perhaps like many of us as he hits a decade he's happy to just refer to that rather than count each year through it .. lol

But his birth year IS 1947 according to the state records. I've seen his birth registration, and his birth is officially listed there as 27 September 1947, which is pretty definitive to me :). The official hatched/matched/despatched records are difficut to change!

:wtf: As curious as I am, I've never felt the urge to check someone's birth registration. I better not ask what made you do it and how you got to see those records.

Though my name was wrong on my original birth certificate and my first 3 marriage certificates (all from the same marriage - we had to go back and get them to get it right!)

I'm just glad I'm not famous enough for people to want to go and get a copy of either of those ...

I doubt a random person would actually have the right to look into someone elses birth certificate.

I said difficult Dave, not impossible. But I doubt you'd be able to change your date of birth on the official register because you wanted to appear younger :)

And as I happen to have seen the register for Meat's birth I mentioned it as people seem endlessly curious as to his birthdate. I might have expected the rather unkind responses I got. Nothing changes. But using one's initiative when an opportunity presents itself isn't imo "stalking" and shouldn't result in silly and pejorative labelling.

I didn't say I'd seen his birth certificate .. do pay attention .. lol .. But the registers are public records, and many are available for anybody to view on-line, as anyone doing research into their family tree will know. It's how we've traced my family history back for 250 years.

Funny how just a simple piece of information gets some wandering off-topic to make negative comments eh? I only post when I feel I have something useful to contribute .. and you go on to suggest I'm making it up to "feel more important" than I am? That's rude and unnecessary, and shoving a smiley after it doesn't make it not so.

And oh yeah...personal data is available online but you do have to request it and go through all kind of rigmarole documents malarkey and pay fees on top of it...so...it's a long way to go just to find out it's 42...
