Me too, we should name that magic place. Music is a rather fine drug.

Like at births, deaths and marriages? Which is what I believe has happened here.
No-one saw the birth except Jimmy's delivery team. Then, we had a beautiful wedding day with the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra.
And, now, every f**cker is turning up to see For Crying Out Loud off on the "funeral" tour!

There are so many of your songs that are filled with so much emotion that they take us somewhere special.

FCOL is one of those that you just have to stop & listen to properly, it is way too good to just listen to while doing something else.

(cough) Not trying to drop any (cough) hints but would be nice to hear this one at Sheffield!!

I think thats why he has not performed it more, If the song is that powerful for Meat just think how emotionally challenging it would be to perform it.

Adje 14 Jan 2013 14:45

Depending on my mood it's either 'Objects' or 'For Crying Out Loud'

'Took the Words' is the Meat Loaf song I listen to most but it's barely in my top 5 strangly enough:D

robgomm 14 Jan 2013 16:26

I really couldn't say what my very favourite is as there are just so so many amazing songs you have done over the years. But I did decide not long ago that my 4 favourites were Rock N Roll Dreams, For Crying Out Loud, Bat, and Objects.

I also have to say Meat, I know you had a bad time with Bat 3, but one song I really loved you doing and which I thank you endlessly for was It's All Coming Back. When I was around 16-17 celine Dion did this song, and it meant something really special to me at the time. I just thought it was an amazing love song, and it was more the song appealed than the singer, but i digress. And then you did it on bat 3 and I remember being so thrilled that you had done that as it's one of my favourite songs ever. It would be amazing if you and Patti ever decided to do it together live, but I thank you for doing it anyway.

 You might be right, but if the song was that challenging i'd have thought that he'd never perform it.
But he has performed it, and he's shown that he can perform it very well.
The MSO version was stunning 8)

I've always like Bat Out Of Hell and I've listened to BOOH2 loads and really like a few tracks on there.

Bat Out Of Hell wins hands down though, reminds me of getting into rock as a child. It's just such a powerful song, and I remember listening to it over and over again just feeling all the highs and lows. Genius :O

DJLeen 14 Jan 2013 22:02

Favorite songs : I'd Do Anything For Love , Did You Ever Love Somebody , California Dreamin' , Decadenth Wish , All Of Me , Mad Mad World especially with the Blue sky intro !!!!!! And if I hear I Want You So Hard live I go totally nuts !! LoL

Paul Richardson 14 Jan 2013 22:56

Mouse said 'so why do you not sing that song more often' ...

Maybe because its so ~~~~ing difficult !!!

melon 15 Jan 2013 15:40

Not so much an absolute favourite, but I've had Decadent Wish stuck in my head for a few days.

I never have the same favourite song from day to day, so I guess this is the current favourite, until I get another one, which will be soon. Depends what happens in my day or my mood.

I think in the MSO dvd it shows us this.

For Crying Out Loud, especially the MSO

Very close second place to Peace on Earth (especially live)

I'm looking forward to it but I always cry when I watch that song on the MSO DVD so I'm pretty sure I'll end up crying during the song at least once on tour.

Not sure he'll be doing objects?

LucyK! 16 Jan 2013 19:00

It's ringing a bell that I've read about him doing Objects...was it posted on Facebook originally then re-posted here?

Sebastian. 16 Jan 2013 19:05

Spoke to Paul on Facebook the other night, as it stands Objects is in the set.

robgomm 16 Jan 2013 20:20

I can't believe both objects and fro crying out loud will both be in the set. That's just mind blowing and could be THE best show ever.

I really am not able to pick a Meat Loaf Steinman involved or not, favourite song out of all the material over the years... but for this thread's sake I will say Elvis In Vegas.

That piano hook is spine chingling. After all the hard rock tracks it just begins the closing of an album with class. Classic Meat Loaf emotion w/ the clever lyric of Jon Bon Jovi. The drums pack a punch and when the guitar jam comes its golden lights. Piano hook comes back and that live Meat Loaf experience is in when he starts to say WHEN THE LIGHTS WENT OUT.... and then he recites an Elvis Presley lyric at the end... incredible.

PanicLord 16 Jan 2013 21:59

For me, it's I'm Gonna Love Her For Both Of Us - I love the setting, the passion, the drama, the production, the vocal performance, just everything about it is spine tingling - especially the newly remastered version off the Playlist CD.

Meat, when you sing For Cryin' Out Loud, what character and scenario do you lose yourself in?

chansadres 17 Jan 2013 09:23

Favorite song is definitely Rock and Roll Dreams Come Through. I have the picture disc vinylsingle framed on my desk. Objects is second.

The Bat Trilogy is like a persons life. Bat I is for me about youth and growing up. The music is light and joyful. Lyrics about problems you encounter when your young. Bat II is about being mature. The tone of the music is just darker. Lyrics about the pains in life. Bat III is about getting old. The hunger is there but the lyrics are more darker and about the little future you got. The last grunt before the end. And it ends beautiful in peace with Cry to Heaven. So I count the trilogy as one. And it's my favorite.
