:D :D Good to see you back meat, you look great!
see you soon in manchester.

Edit 28 Nov 2003 22:10

It was good to see some pics but I think he looks really tired, and even though I missed Manchester on the 13th November and will miss the 30th, I think he perhaps needs a bit more time and get his strenght back properly.
Must be extremely difficult with the pressure of thousands of fans to please and concert commitments.
Still his health should come first...

It is so nice to see him looking well, but tired. I'm glad he has put his foot down and said he's going to re-schedule Monday 17th Nov. I just can't wait to shout the house down with everyone else, we will show him he was worth the wait.

Meat Loaf: 'I cheated death'
20.19PM GMT, 28 Nov 2003
Rocker Meat Loaf has spoken about his dramatic on-stage collapse and heart surgery, and admitted: "I cheated death."
The heavyweight rock star was diagnosed with a potentially fatal heart condition after collapsing in the middle of a concert at London's Wembley Arena.
He underwent an operation to correct the defect and has spent the last two weeks recovering.
At a press conference in Kensington, west London, the 52-year-old singer said he was lucky to be alive after doctors discovered he had Wolff-Parkinson-White Syndrome, a condition which causes an irregular heart beat.
"In a sense I guess I cheated death because of the condition I had," he said.
"The last two weeks have been fairly scary and unlike anything I've gone through before."
Speaking at a meeting in Newport, Gwent, Prime Minister Tony Blair - who himself had treatment for an irregular heartbeat last month - said : "There was hot news in just before I came in to speak to you. We got a message from Meat Loaf.
"It's absolutely serious. He's been in hospital and he has issued a statement saying the standard of his care was spectacular and UK hospitals are better than American ones, so there you go."
Meat Loaf revealed he had been unwell throughout the summer, but was determined to perform in the UK despite suffering dizziness and fainting spells during earlier gigs in Europe and America.
Recalling his Wembley collapse on November 17, he said: "I was performing a song called All Revved Up and I couldn't sing the lyrics.
"I got to the middle of the stage where the girls were and I remember grabbing hold of a girl's arm and starting to fall."
The singer passed out but when he came to, he was determined to carry on with the show.
He said: "The next thing I remember, everyone was all around me and I said `Where's my mike? Let's go'.
"I did one more song and then I was supposed to go and change clothes. I sat down on the steps and realised I wasn't going anywhere.
"I tried to start singing another song but I had no air, I literally couldn't breathe. That's when I got really scared.
"I don't quit anything, I'm very competitive and I don't care how bad I'm losing, I won't quit. I just want to play another game.
"But I just had to walk out and tell them I was really sorry but I had to go. It's a good thing I did because I was completely out of it."

Also rumoured that he said 22/11 will be rescheduled for 15/01 - can anyone confirm this?

I'm also pleased as i don't wan't that memory of Meat laying on the stage hope he takes it easy and gets well properly first.

Cpl Mickey 29 Nov 2003 01:33

Thanks Jen for the photo's at the Press Conference. Meat does look tired but then so would i if i had just been through what he had.

BadAttitude 29 Nov 2003 02:05

Thanks, for the update and the link to the pics. Meat did look like he was still kind of tired in the pics even though he did look good. I hope that he takes it easy the first few shows and does not over do until he gets feeling much better.
Meat is a real fighter that is for sure, doing the shows over the summer even though he was not well and not wanting to quit till me quite literally had no choice.
But now I hope that he quits pushing him self so hard and takes the time that he needs to heal.

Hi, All
I just got a new press release from Yahoo new a while ago some of the same previous news that we have heard today but I thougt I would share it with you.

http://story.news.yahoo.com/news?tmp..._meatloaf_dc_1

American rock star Meat Loaf said Friday he hoped to resume his tour soon, despite suffering anxiety attacks two weeks after collapsing on a London stage and undergoing heart surgery.

The 56-year-old, famed for "Bat Out Of Hell," had a two-hour operation after doctors diagnosed his condition as Wolff-Parkinson-White Syndrome, a heart defect that causes an irregular heartbeat.

"The last two weeks have been very scary and unlike anything I've gone through before," the star, carrying a rugby ball in homage to England's World Cup victory, told a news conference.

He was forced to cancel a concert in Manchester, northern England, but hoped to resume his tour in Dublin Tuesday.

"I've been going on stage since some time in the 1960s... But I have to admit, I'm a little bit nervous. I'm having a few anxiety attacks," he said.

Meat Loaf's operation was carried out to remove an extra electrical pathway in the heart which causes an irregular and accelerated heartbeat, he said.

"Your heartbeat can get up to 300 beats per minute and then it explodes, so that would have been uncomfortable," he said.

"I guess I cheated death."

Quote from Meat Loaf: I guess I cheated death.

I don't think that many of us realize how close we came to losing Meat, when I head originally that Meat was having a relapse from the flu I thought well no big deal. But after hearing how sick Meat actually was, having heart problems that but things in a different light for me.

I hope that Meat Loaf take the time that he needs to get well and that he dosen't give us any more scares like this.
