Didnt they record MSO over 2 nights in Melbourne??? If so, maybe Meat might be planning to do this again with RAH and Broadway and then just put the 2 together, same set list but if one song sounds good or something along those lines use one from the other show and vise versa. Just a thought, maybe I am totally wrong!

The MSO DVD was able to be put together over 2 nights because the set-up, stage costume etc was exactly the same for both nights. Trying to combine RAH and NY together would quite obviously show a jump from one theatre to the other and make the DVD show look gumby :| And the last thing anyone wants is a gumby looking DVD

I'm guessing the RAH show is getting recorded, because it's quite a renowned famous theatre. But if the f*ck up the show, at least they have another chance as back up ;)

I can't remember where I saw it but I swear that somewhere Meat indicated it was going to be at the Palace Theatre. I think LESTAT was the most recent production there (although the run closed early).

Anyone else or was I dreaming?

You're not dreaming Jo ... it's going to be at the Palace Theatre :))

Is it just me or would anyone else going to RAH feel a bit cheated if it didn't end up being put on DVD? I know we're speaking hypothetically here: I'm sure the RAH will be c0ck up free, and both RAH and NY will be released on DVD in possible entirety in some shape or form.:D

I remember garth brooks released a dvd called to dublin and back or something which was higlights from obviously the dublin show but also the NY one.
I'm sure this point is relevant to this thread somehow

Having said that alot of artists and comedians have dvds from the rah i guess it must look more impressive or something

I'm convinced it's not going to be on dvd anyway, so I wont be disappointed  I wont feel in the slightest bit cheated if it's not either. I'm sure we'll get a recording somewhere along the line at a show on this tour, so I'll be more than happy with that. In fact I'd like the dvd to be of a show I can't get to, then I don't feel as cheated that I couldn't get there :D

I just hope it doens't end up as 'oh, they didn't record the london gig, but they did record the new york one, same old story.'
At least if both concerts are recorded then it will keep people on both sides of the Atlantic happy.

Pudding 27 Sep 2006 23:22

I fail to see your logic. I'm sure if the show was recorded in London only, the people in the states would happily buy it and vice versa.

So long as it gets recorded, the location or the country is irrelevant.

Absolutely right! I love the MSO, and that was recorded in Australia, miles away from where I am. I don't care where the recording is, as long as one is done somewhere!

I do, however, have a preference right now for a dvd of the London show, because I would like to see what Meat's show looked like in a primarily classical music place like RAH, and also to see so many of my UK forum friends in the audience.

As long as it gets recorded, is all I care.. I just want to be able to see it. :))

And imagine the front cover!: MEAT LOAF AT THE ROYAL ALBERT HALL
Maybe it's just me being biased towards a London recorded show as I'm English, love London, and am dying to see the inside of RAH for real. But for me, it just felt as though we were told ages ago that RAH was going to be recorded, and it was like 'great! we'll get to watch him in that fantastic (and seemingly elusive, concertwise) venue more than once'; then suddenly, somehow, all the focus seems to be on Broadway being recorded as a possible alternative, and it's just...'what?! why?'
But if both are out on DVD, then those who couldn't get to RAH can see it, and those who can't go to NY (me included, skint) can see that, too.
