Do they let you rent the car? When they send you now or next time, just say your car needs repair or some such crap and get them to authorize rental - then they will pay for gas. Or least that's how it's done here.

We're supposed to hire cars for trips greater than 100 miles ... works out cheaper for the firm that way apparently. There's always a way round it though, especially with an understanding boss, and the mileage rate comes in handy sometimes ;-)

The problem is...no matter how much they reimburse you gas which is never enough...they can't really reimburse you wear and tear on the car...but, of course, since it's your car, besides you, nobody really cares.
