It's a bit like when the adverts come on telly and BLAM the volume is loud and continuous and relentless. It can be exhausting to listen to. Music, especially music with drama in, has natural variation of loudness as part of the tune, part of the experience. A good recent example is From Now On from The Greatest Showman. Starts extremely quiet, builds to a crescendo and ends softly. Make it all the same volume and you lose all that.

I hope everyone enjoyed the snow, as it's just a little under 18 years ago that dr David Viner told us winter snowfall will become "a very rare and exciting event"

and I'm fascinated to see how the anti trump, pro eu media react to trump suggesting the adoption of eu customs union policy style tariffs.

though i'm easily entertained
