I don't think Meat will lose any sleep over it and ultimately it really doesnt matter, Meat will sell albums regardless, Clarkson is hardly a music guru!
I think he got the desired affect, he riled the fans who take stuff way too seriously and got his name thrown about all over the place causing people overseas who never saw the programme to go to youtube and look for his vids!!

I think her and Fran Drescher are from the same area of New York. Drescher is from the queens area and I think Patti was raised in the Bronx, though far as I know she was born in New Jersey

My ex lives in Queens, while her accent isn't as strong as either Patti or Drescher it is similar.

James May is the one who hates Meat Loaf on that show not so much Clarkson. I hate James May he's nothing but a plonker, and he has the worst hair I've ever seen too. Actually every time I see his hair I shiver, it's disgusting.

James May and Richard Hammond are just puppets in that show imo. I seriously doubt James May "hates" Meat Loaf.

Well I'm of the opposite opinion I'm afraid having heard the way he talked about him on the show. He came across as sarcastic and ignorant. I know people on here were going to write into BBC complaining about it. This is going back a while though.

Is it? :wtf: I'd have to listen to the whole song, as that video does absolutely nothing for me :nope: If there was an anti-Viagra...that would be it

And indeed I was one of those people but that does not mean that James May HATES Meat Loaf and if you'd included that statement in a letter to the BBC I think they probably would have ignored your mail which I can understand. Top Gear like any other entertainment program is heavily scripted and dramatised to be "entertaining". The offending Meat Loaf and his fans part was included to be "cool" and indeed to generate some laughs as all three presentors were in on it. Did any of the presentors at any time say "Oh I so love this song, I went to a concert of them and it was awesome" (unless of course that artist is in the studio and it is suck up time)? Of course not, that is just the type of stuff you'd never hear on TG. But if you like to continue to believe everything that is said in Top Gear as being the truth on how people are in real life be my guest.

Exactly. The show is scripted and designed to be funny and irreverent. Don't take anything they say seriously.

RadioMaster 23 Jul 2009 10:34

while all this top gear talk is highly entertaining, I'd like to remind everyone to stay on topic. :yep:

So......Patti in Meat's twitter videos:  or :barf: ?

have to be honest, that clip didnt sound great to me, or the few lyrics, but i am hopeful the whole song once finished will sound great!! I don't think many of Meat's songs would sound that great if we just heard a small clip of him singing them on his own, so i don't think i can give an opinion either way.
It was nice to see a clip of Meat singing though nonetheless :-D

Also great to see Patti has arrived

Sarge 23 Jul 2009 12:43

I agree with Bobbin. I'm not that impressed by his vocals but it's hard to judge the quality of his singing by a clip that's just 15 seconds long. I'm actually glad to finally hear him sing in one of the videos.

Edit: I just listened to it again and the lyrics sound a little dull to me. I wonder if it is really something that's going to be on the album or a joke. :? The melody reminds me of his "David, David, oh David" song. ;)

Andrew your opinion is fine, but if this show is indeed heavily scripted they need to sack the script writers. On a side note someone needs to do something about James May's hair too.

Ok back on topic about the new Meat Loaf video on twitter, hmmm I translated what he's singing as "Lets be love....Lets be love.....lets go upstairs" I think it's just a bluff to get people talking.

I don't even understand what he sings between "let's go upstairs to" and "more than enough" (?). Can't imagine that he would mumble like that on an actual recording.

I hope it doesn't deter people from buying the record. ;)
